News / The best Poland ever? [125]

German energy concerns would be equally addressed by building a land pipeline as suggested in many of my posts

How so?

What's better than a direct connection to the supplier? What if Poland decides to cut the pipeline because of some Nazi-accusation? What if the transit fees reach new heights...it's a nice income for the budget, isn't it?

What if another country, doesn't have to be Poland, get's problems with Russia...using the pipeline as a weapon?
Nothing new here...

Do you really begrudge Germany wanting to get rid of all these question marks? Again... WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM???

PS: The pipeline will be done in July...the first gas will be distributed by October this year. It's time Poles move on.. ;)

Umm...excuse me but I think I know better what a catastrophe these potatoe heads had been for the german-polish relations...and please read the study if you don't believe in german hard business decisions.

.

in building Nord Stream you prove to ignore Polish concerns so you don't treat us as partners

How so?

What about german energy concerns?

(Lech Kaczynski was blackmailed during the negotiations)

ROFL
He made himself and Poland look ridiculous! And the vision of such nutters having our gas in their hands to use as a tool against us was enough to fire on the search for better solutions!

They for sure didn't treat Germany as a partner or ally...

Belarus and Ukraine is unreliable...at the time of the decision making the Kaczinskies were unreliable...the transit fees were to reliable...

Why do you have a problem with a sovereign country cutting out factors it has no control over through a direct connection with it's supplier?

WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!

so why should I believe you

For the third time...read the link I posted...there it's all for you to read!

you just don't care to treat us as partners? why should we treat you as such

Get a grip! It's exactly these tantrums which made your pipelines so unreliable...you see the pipelines as a political tool...we don't!

History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

The disadvantage of being a medium-sized rather than a big country are obvious in terms of smaller economic, demographic and cultural potential

So...the bigger the country the more cultural and economic potential????

Do you really want to say that?

See above

I'm not sure about polish business but german isn't politic at all...believe me! Why should we invest in expensive and unreliable pipelines when we can have something better? Or have you forgotten about the ukrainian-russian payment spats?

I don't get your accusations at all...

It isn't as if Nord-Stream would be the only new pipeline Germany is investing in.

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

maybe it some ethical arguement that Poland should not demand payment for the gas transferred (btw I think Polish side contributed to the maintainance of the pipeline) to Germany through its territory but from the financial point of view I bet it is even more expensive to pump gas (and maintain the pipeline) under Baltic sea -

It's no ethical argument at all.
It's common that middle countries charge for allowing their country used for pipelines etc.
And in the end after the North Stream is build it will be cheaper without all that regular extra fee (it isn't only Poland which is charging Germany for their pipelines, you know).

YOU make a political argument out of it...accusing Germany of a second Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and what not...unable to see the hard economical facts behind the decision. Or do you really think german business is somehow willing to pay millions only to be "mean" against Poles?

"It's the economy stupid!" (as Clinton used to say)

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

Germany chose not to treat Poland, Latvia and Lithuania (all EU countries as reliable partners)

Remember back at the time when the decision for the North Stream was made? Do you remember the treatment of Germany at the hands of the potatoe heads ruling your government? Do you think it wrong that Germany didn't feel it could rely on Poland???

With North Stream we don't need to rely on anybody else at all anymore...and no more paying fees either.
In the end it's cheaper and much more reliable...how can you blame us?
Sometimes your argumentation runs more around like the pipeline over your land being a hostage for german good behaviour, all political...nothing to do with economical questions.

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

there was no instance Poland has not paid for its Russian gas -

That's what I meant...there is no danger that Russia cut's delivery be it not disagreements in payments. That's what happened with Ukraine...hence the need for an independent pipeline not going through countries with financial problems.

Should the over land pipeline again be disrupted because of differences with middle countries not paying Poland will get also gas from the North stream....

....can eventually put many big industries in Poland out of business

I'm not sure what you mean...hopefully not the forced charge middle countries take for allowing the pipelines on their land?

Excuse my fallible nose but to me it smells more like freedom.

You are free already...

Poland is at risk that her neighbours will manipulate her into disadvantageous economical position.

Yes, that's why the billions out of the EU-funds...and the billions of foreign investments...open borders for Poles to go where the jobs are and support their people at home...etc....

Without that you would be all blooming paradise!

once the Nord Stream pipeline is finished Russia can shut the gas supplies to Poland for whatever reason

There is only one reason..if Poland doesn't pay for the gas.

Poland is not fearing military conquest at the momen

Peace!

education degenerates

Germany wasn't happy about what the PISA study said either....we took the lesson and work on it.
So should you.

No reason to think about the country being on the brink of destruction!

What do you think about 'the socialized enterprise'?

Smells like socialism/communism if you ask me. You might think you can control it, cage it, but once in place it will grow. Dead end avenue as history has shown...

I hope you remember that when the rebels win with the west help and start their revenge...killing civilians!

But somehow I can't see western jets flying for the "wrong" kind of civilians then...

Same difference really. A stitch in time saves nine.

Then the countries who feel the need to "stitch" should do so alone but not abuse the NATO and pressure others to go along with them as in "You are either with us or you are a traitor".

What if North Korea starts to think suddenly "Let's the oppressed citizens of the UK liberate by force? They are already demonstrating against their undemocratic dictatorship!" What's good for the goose...

The NATO is no tool to be abused by some governments head for their ideas about foreign policy in far away countries, period!

Polonia / What are social and cultural occupations of Poles in Germany ? [30]

, this still doesn't mean he's liked by non-Jewish Germans, merely respected

Well....for Germans that means even more. You can like whom you want for a plethora of reasons, but hard earned respect is something else.

What is your problem? Why should we like people? Just because they are Poles? ;)
If you could choose, what would you take? Superficial sympathy and a clap on the back or respect and admiration?

Why "ruefully"?

As he once stated at some self-clapping ceremony that german TV is generally crap he got standing ovations!

He is called the "literature pope" in Germany...a Pole in the self-acclaimed country of the thinkers and poets!
What an achievement!!! :)

t "All Krauts are Nazis!!", huh? Is that also a well-deserved? I DON'T THINK SO!

Why not well-deserved?

Do you really believe the after war fairytale that there had been only a handful real Nazis and the rest had been resisters by heart (as you can hear so often from other countries) ? ;)

The majority did, that's what I thought of too....

There had been x assassination attempts and even a resistance who tried to pull the plug under Hitler late in the war (Valkyrie), but to no time had there been ever a "danger" of a popular uprising.

Quite the contrary, the officers of the resistance were seen quite unanimously as traitors by the folks at home and the soldiers at the fronts...even for decades after the war.

Yeah...I for one didn't knew that under Ghaddafi there was gender equality...something unheard of elsewhere in the arab world.

Those "allahuakbar" rebels won't care for that I think....

Actually the more I read about Libya the more unsure I get about the painted image in our media. Who knows which nutter we right now help to power and if that is really such a good idea.

Perhaps I should have said 'most people in Europe who are expressing an opinion'.

Yeah...exactly
I also got only always the same sources...

I would give something to see and hear the other side in that conflict. And that I can't makes me thinking...

The rebels come from tribes who haven't had such a good deal over the last few years.

Did you also watch that footage about how rebels treated pro-Ghaddafi folks? Doesn't bode well for the time after their victory (should that ever happen).

Bloody mess

One thing is clear, most people want Gaddafi out. And fast.

Just a question...who told you that?

You know...if Ghaddafi was really so hated by the Libyans he would be out by now. Makes you think...(or should).
By now the soldiers should have defected from the dictator and there should be uprisings in more cities. But it rather looks like as if the rebels number is dwindling.

Doesn't look like a popular uprising anymore....right now the NATO does the rebels fighting. Without them the insurgency would be dead by now.

You believe that they are poor, persecuted, political refugees at your own peril.

I once read a series in Spiegel as a journalist followed the way of a nigerian mother across Africa till to an italian camp.

This women left behind her two little children, suffered countless dangers and hardships and spend about 100.000 Dollars for smugglers and other criminal contacts. (I still don't know where that "poor" woman got all that money from as she needed it)

Since then I lost any sympathy with these people...just a tiny amount of that energy, determination and money spend at home or in a neighbouring country would have helped her, her kids and her country much more than her "working" illegally now as some prostitute at some nameless street somewhere in Europe.

We are only the ventil...without us taking them in their home countries would probably explode and things would change for the better. But as long we provide the ventil the masses will come, leaving behind failed states.
