News / Poland - Ukraine. Młodzież Wszechpolska against Ukrainians. [180]

@Crow

Poles are fighting mostly on the side of Ukraine in the conflict. Rebel forces use a mix of USSR and 3rd Reich symbols as well. Even the commander of one of the rebel battalions was known for wearing a Wermacht helmet into battle. It's just nationalist symbolism - not because they love Germanic influence. Poland's ONR uses Falangist and 30's nationalist symbols like lightning bolts as well. Actually, Azov's leader Biltesky regularly praises Poland for being a shining symbol of Slavic power and refusing things like migrants, gay marriage, etc. He is a big supporter of an intermarium federation with Poland and other Slavic states as a bulwark against Germany/western EU and Putin's Russia.

This war needs to end though. No more conflict between Slavs.

News / Poland versus Greece in economy [175]

@rozumiemnic

Umm simple and geography has nothing to do with it and everything to do with government and societal will and whether it cares about its citizens more than economic migrants. They have guns and an army... you post border guards around and dont let people in illegally. Speaking of geography take a look at china, saudi arabia, or any number of countries within close promiximty to where migrants are coming from. Even poland is surrounded on 3 sides by different countries but thay doesnt mean we take in every person that crosses the border without checking them and detaining those breaking the law.

They shouldnt of let any boats come in in the first place. Fire warning shots if you must. Refusr them entry once, twice, three times and people will get discouraged and stop coming by the thousands. Allowing thousands of people from a vastly different culture to reap economic benefits and literally rape and pillage all over the land isnt humanitarianism, its allowing an invasion via amphibious landing. No self respecting rulers should ever allow it and not try to stop it.

Work / Native English looking for a teaching job in Poland [135]

My college roomie taught in S. Korea after college for like a year or two. He got offered something like 50k usd but Poland won't pay nearly as much. He told me that Koreans don't wear deodorant there but idk if that's really true or not. A lot of people who are serious about teaching English in PL for a career will teach for a while, make contacts, give tutoring lessons on the side for extra money, and before long a lot of them do that full time. I've thought about doing business English lessons too.

Idk how you guys could teach 6 year olds. They make everything sticky and are a walking petri dish of colds, flu, and God knows what else.

I've heard great things about Crete, Athens not so much. I feel for the Greeks man. Its sad that government cucks protect their own citizens. When millions of young men are rushing towards your borders thats not a refugee crisis, its an invasion as must be treated as such.

News / Poland versus Greece in economy [175]

Economy better? Please, Greeks have the lowest savings rate of any EU nation. The average Greek spends 19% more than they earn.

Average wages are way way way down from pre-recession years -statista.com/statistics/416209/average-annual-wages-greece-y-on-y-in-euros/

And how's the ROI on the billions invested in that Olympic stadium working out for you guys?

You guys should've put all the migrants that came through in the stadium and sent Merkel a rent bill. Not only would you have helped stem the flow of terrorists, ninjas, neck beards, etc. but you'd also make some money. That's what the Italians are doing. It's making them a ton of money too putting thousands of migrants into an empty warehouse and charging the EU 100eu per migrant per day.

That's not a very good GRE score - you want to be above 310 if you plan on getting into a half decent grad school. A 299 is right around the average, perhaps even a bit below the mean

History / Israeli wants to wipe Poland off the map! [198]

think Orthodox Jews do accept converts

No they actually don't really accept nor recognize converts as 'real' Jews. According to Jewish law, a person receives his or her 'jewishness' from the mother. If the mother is not jewish, their son or daughter isn't - according to strict Jewish law which Orthodox follow. They do not recognize 'converts' and I believe only the more liberal sects like 'reform' recognize them.

Its worth noting that Orthodox place more emphasis on Torah than Talmud. In fact, many orthodox jews, especially groups like netuya karta, do not recognize Israel as the Torah states that Jews are not to have a homeland until their messiah comes.

Can a convert to Judaism [like say, Ivanka Trump] be considered to be on the same level as an Orthodox Jew

She is not considered to be a 'real Jew' because she does not have a Jewish mother. Although, if she keeps kosher, follows Jewish law, etc. then the more liberal sects will recognize her as a Jew.

News / Poland - Ukraine. Młodzież Wszechpolska against Ukrainians. [180]

Azov battalion are heros and true patriots laying down their lives everyday for not only Ukranian interests but for Slavdom and the idea of intermarium of which Andriy Biletsky is a huge supporter. It's too bad though that Ukranians and Russians are fighting each other instead of driving out all the foreign invaders coming into Europe illegally and giving the lands back to the native Europeans. We need citizen militias like Ukraine's Azov to patrol the no-go's zones in places like Germany, Sweden, etc. to keep native Europeans safe. The cops sure as hell aren't protecting the populace since they're beholden to the socialists who want to sweep migrant crimes under the rug and pretend everything's okay.

Nazi rule in Ukraine.

I don't see anything wrong with nationalists ruling Ukraine. Maybe they'll finally mop up all the European and Israeli oligarchs who stole millions, even billions from the country and nationalize their assets.

Life / Poland safe for a Greek? [93]

The IMF didn't stuff a loan down anyone's throat, it was simply there in case it was needed - which it wasn't in the end.

Thanks to Poles' great handling of the economy, no we didn't need a loan. Yes, they play a role in Polish fiscal policy, nonetheless Poland and its banks ultimately can set policies for the national currency - that wouldn't be the case if we adopted the euro which Poland has no plans to do unless it improves

Hey if you guys want it in greece thats up to you. We poles generally prefer not to have the imf and eu dictating our fiscal policies. Weve just told the imf in 2017 to take the loan they tried to force down polands throat to stuff it.

Life / Poland safe for a Greek? [93]

I thought Poland is in € ha ha

No, and hopefully we never will be. There were plans for Poland to adopt the euro after EU ascension but then the global recession happened which hurt Europe tremendously - Poland on the other hand clocked in ridiculously high GDP growth esp by EU standards and to this day doesn't want to adopt a stagnant currency and give up its fiscal sovereignty. The government's position is that 'if' the Euro's standing improves, then Poland will 'consider' adopting it.

Work / Polish Canadian ESL job/student advice [78]

you need to read your history, it's a bit more recent that that.

I'm aware that many of the countries didn't regain their independence till the 60's or 70's -- Poland didn't regain hers till 89 90 when things really changed - where are our billions from Germany and Russia? So the people born after the 60's and 70's in France, basically the majority, have to account for their ancestors sins according to you. Well, at least you and North Korean ideology have that in common.

You should watch Chlopaki Nie Placza - it explains the situation rather poignantly. For example, it asks, do you think it's easy to capture a big African dude in a net? Of course not. The people who were caught were those too stupid to run away from a guy with a net. Also, chiefs traded their own people for muskets and tobacco as they'd rather have a good smoke than keep around a useless guy. Now the descendants of people who were too stupid to run away from a net or who's own leaders traded them away for some tobacco are telling us that Europeans owe them something because one of our great great great grandparents traded a musket for some slaves - a legal (At the time) economic transaction over 100 hundred years ago? Sorry, but if the roles were reversed and Africans had superior technology to the Europeans do you think they'd be so accommodating to us today? Somehow I doubt it - the Chinese sure as hell aren't - they're only about commerce and money, they don't play this namby pamby BS - and actually their levels of technology were superior in many regards to medieval/rennaisaince/imperial Europe.

Who are the modern colonizers? Chinese. They are in every African, Carribean, European, etc. country. Go to Madagascar even - it's Chinese running vanilla plantations. It's the same scenario all over Africa. Yet no one is calling the Chinese to take in millions of Africans.... They don't want em and that's their right as a sovereign nation with its own border policy and laws.

. I think i will do the schooling in Poland and try to work living in the EU a couple of years,

It's very common for Poles to go to EU for work and then spend most their earnings in PL - especially Germany. This has been going on for ages, even during commie times people would go to Germany, buy goods that were hard to get or dollars, marks, etc. and sell them back in PL or move them onto Russia. A lot of Poles went to UK in the past few years, a lot have returned though because of the higher wages and a lot more opportunities than 10 years ago.

Frankly, yes it does

So the descendants of colonialists have to account for their great great great great grandparents' sins? You realize that's the line that North Korea takes - that a son is equally responsible for his mother's or fathers and even their grandparents' crimes.

If that were the case then it should be applied universally - Poland should be given billions of dollars then by Russia and Germany for their destruction and these countries should also pay for their crimes which occurred far more recently than the age of imperialism.

France deserves everything they get, along with Belgiium, and the Netherlands. And the UK.

Yes, they indeed do - they made their bed, they must now sleep in it. Although I hate to see all these beautiful countries that I've travelled to be utterly invaded by seas of ninja women and neck beards, their lefty politicians lead the citizens down this course. And the millions of conservative and even centrist citizens hate it! This only makes countries who aren't having to face nonstop terror, rapes, economic strain, etc. like Poland, Hungary, etc. who voted in nationalist governments look better. Don't believe me? Just take a look at AfD's success. Europeans are getting sick of this lefty nonsense that we are somehow obligated to take in economic migrants. No - we have no responsibility whatsoever.

If they want to mess up their countries to the point where women only sections are created during NYE parties and concerts so that migrants aren't able to grope or rape them, that's fine - that's their right as citizens to vote for whatever limousine liberal and shampoo socialists they want. However, we Poles have spoken loud and clear - we don't want migrants from ME and Africa and the majority of Poles will vote for people who respect those wishes amongst others.

If i live for the next 3 years at least in poland

Less than that - you'll be nearly fluent in like 6-12 months if you already have a foundation. I'm pretty fluent in Polish although I speak English more in my daily life everytime I go to Poland I always learn new words or like how to phrase something better. Being there forces you to learn the language. One nice thing though is almost all the youth now speak English and will bug you for lessons. You'll be able to find work teaching/translating/tutoring English without a problem. Katowice is a great city too - good location. I've always preferred southern/Silesian Poland over the other parts although the Baltic coast is really nice too. I'm right up the E40 in Wroclaw.

@rozumiemnic

Doesn't mean they had to take in a flood of migrants that cause a ton of problems and throw garbage all over the streets and sh1t because they've never seen a trash bin back home in Afghanistan.

Italy had colonies as well and up until very recently their foreign population was low. Same with Portugal - they had plenty of overseas territories yet have largely been unimpacted by the migrant crisis. Sorry but I don't buy the BS that having colonies during the age of imperialism and somehow that means you have a huge migrant population today.

Poland yes didn't have colonies yet nonetheless took in migrants - Ukrainians primarily -1 mln, roughly the same amount as Germany yet Poland doesn't have to face terror, rapes, etc. Just yesterday i read a story about a teenage afghan who killed a 15 german girl because she dumped Abdul... well Abdul didn't take it too kindly and his culture tends to have zero respect for women, let alone equality. Clearly, the problems that arise out of migration as evidenced when comparing Poland to Germany, France, Sweden, etc. is WHERE you take in migrants from - and not necessarily whether the host country is very wealthy or even how many migrants you take.

masters in translation

I highly doubt you'd need a masters in translation to get a good translating job. I'd do something more general IMO to broaden your employment possibilities. Maybe consider something like linguistics, language arts, or simply majoring in English or some other language.

translation work alone (ie free lance online stuff) and will need to supplement income with other skills?

Probably not. A lot of the people who teach English in schools make money on the side tutoring as the wages tend to be very low for teachers even by PL standards. Some will write or publish books but tutoring is I'd say the most common side hustle for teachers. You can make half decent money by PL standards tutoring and you don't really need an advanced degree (or really any degree) to do that. Oftentimes the highest rates for tutors are those who are native English speakers and have business experience/business degrees and focus on clients learning 'business english' and focus teaching more on things you'd encounter at a corporation.

Not angry, just practical and realistic. Also, I don't want my beautiful Polish motherland to turn into a place like Paris with garbage and sh!t strewn all over the streets and a nonstop state of emergency because we took in unvetted migrants, that's all. And no, being a US soldier by itself doesn't impress me. There's plenty of them with complexes like thinking they're another gender than the American taxpayers get stuck paying hundreds of thousands for gender reassignment, hormones, and all sorts of nonsense that has no place in the military. What impresses me is someone who stands up for their family, country, culture and knows how to make money.

Work / Polish Canadian ESL job/student advice [78]

i understood that you kind of need to work in an agency as a newbie until anyone will take you seriously enough to move into freelance work so i kind of understood you have to put a few years

Not necessarily. If you're looking into working in the corporate realm you can find a job fairly easily but if it depends on your work experience - if most of your work experience is teaching abroad it may be challenging, but not impossible. You can still land a customer service or even entry level sales type job and make around the national averages. It depends if you want to go into tutoring/teaching and work at a school, work as a translator for a company, or something else. If you wish to tutor private you don't need anything beyond knowledge of English, native preferred which you have, and be entrepreneurial and promote yourself.

think MA Engl with specialization in Translation studies is better than a degree in Polish....?

I would say so. Polish degrees aren't really internationally respected as much as degrees from western nations. Although if you plan to live in Poland that won't matter as much. If you plan to move to Poland and further your education the renowned state schools with lessons in Polish are considered the most respected programs. A lot of private schools offer lessons in English - those types of degrees aren't generally as respected. Same with English language degrees from Polish state schools although certainly those would be more respected than one from a private polish school. They have this sort of stereotype of being places where you pay, you pass - a for effort... I'd stick with furthering your education in Canada imo because I think it will be more impressive and also will be recognized just about anywhere should you decide not to stay in Poland.

State schools in PL don't pay at all well and the work is hard, however it's easier to pick up work in private schools - most of them aren't that good, however they do hire.

Yeah Jon actually points out a valid thing here - while state schools tend to be more respected, its the private (esp the known international schools) that will be far easier to get your foot in the door and they tend to pay more too....

Work / Polish Canadian ESL job/student advice [78]

I'm sorry I just read your experience - I was reading more recent posts and at first it sounded like you were just about to move to Poland and attent school there...

So Canadian degrees will be respected in Poland. You won't have an issue with that. My response was more in reference to the state of schools in Poland for the undergrad/grad level. Anyway, if you have teaching experience and you're a native speaker plus you speak some Polish you'll find a job no problem. I would go for either well known international schools or renowned Polish state schools. The pay for teachers however, even professors at the uni level, is low even by Polish standards so be prepared for that. Quite a few people make money on the side tutoring for which the rates are actually a lot more than the salary theyd make teaching. CELTA and BA will be enough to get you a job teaching esp English but some may require higher level certifications just depends on the school. It'll be easy for you to get settled regardless though. I also have dual like you but US/Polish citizenship and while I live primarily in the US I travel to Poland all the time and have a home there.

Work / Polish Canadian ESL job/student advice [78]

Best Polish schools tend to be state schools, taught in Polish. English degrees aren't viewed that highly from schools Poland esp private ones. If you planned to do your education in England in Poland you're better off just going to a Canadian uni for undergrad and than Poland for grad school imo... or go to Polish state school. I can't speak for L.A. and philology (for business its SGH undergrad and grad level) but the schools in Warsaw tend to be the best although there's some decent schools in Katowice too since its a big city. You can still get a job though teaching young kids with that but don't expect to ever move further like teaching even high school or undergrad level without a masters or atleast a bachelors from a good polish uni, good knowledge of polish, and some work experience under your belt. If you're just looking to teach English though ultimately most important is just to be a native speaker and do some certifications, nonetheless a degree in that field helps if that's what you plan to do.

Life / Poland safe for a Greek? [93]

think it's similar to Lithuania, the modern baltic state has jack all to do with the previous political entity

Ehh yes and no, Poles and Lithuanians are two distinct ethnic groups with their own languages, alphabet, culture, last names, etc. But, they are similar in many respects and Poles and Lithuanians have historically been very close. Although lately Poles have seemed to focus more on relationship building with Czechs, Hungarians, and during the 90s and pre-EU especially Germans, at least more so than the Baltic nations anyway. Before WW2 though Poland and Lithuania was like the same and marriages between Poles and Lithuanians frequently took place. Wilno is considered by a small population to be a Polish city, but it's really not at least certainly not today. Even back in the day it was mainly Lithuanians living there but certainly a huge Polish minority as well.

With the money its strange, that you get $.

Yeah but I think that's only because most of my bank accounts are in US and for some reason the exchange rates are great - they're usually the official rate and a few times I've gotten it even a tad cheaper - idk if they maybe didn't update it or if they go by the forex official rates before's days close.. not sure. I don't really use my Polish account for buying stuff as the fees are high, points and the gifts are garbage, interest on loans is insane, etc. I usually just use it to pay small fees and bills. Banking industry imo in Poland isn't competitive - esp not compared to US and large wealthier countries but if you're travelling it's fine for those purposes.

You'll be fine with paying with visa's just about anywhere. Carry some loose zloty (at least 100-200 z's worth) for buying stuff in shops, kiosks, markets, etc as those are very popular. Oftentimes some of the best blueberries are ones you can buy from a stand on the side of a highway or even like some nice inexpensive clothes at the bazaars (aka targi)

Slavs reached the area around the year 600 after christ.

Not really tho - the sarmatians were part of Scythian culture and even the lusations

I think the situation with Alexander the Great is a bit complicated. To my understanding he was a Greek king, of Macedonian stock. I believe the Greeks were in charge of ancient Macedonia and even Alexander was taught by Aristotle. So he was definitely a Greek but either Macedonian or mixed Greek/Macedonian stock as was common to seal treaties - a king would marry a princess from an ally. Alexander was of the Argead dynasty

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argead_dynasty

The culture of Macedonia and Greece esp high culture was basically the same in those territories too. Also, Alexander's family followed Greek mythology as a religion

News / Polonophobia rising in Israel. [144]

Hahaha American taxpayer paying for replacements. It's your taxes going to their warmongering, don't forget.

Actually, Israel purchases the planes - albeit with a discount. Thankfully we don't have rabbi dov zakheim as comptroller so no more selling planes for scrap metal. In any case, there's always bad with the good and despite Trump being an uber Zionist, I still like most of his policies. A person will never agree with 100% of the stuff that a party or politician stands for.

Israel's never been interested in dialogue, just in lecturing (not the same thing at all).

And bombing schools, massacring university students leaving classrooms, bulldozing Palestinian peoples homes, building walls to keep them out and generally instilling a system of apartheid...

Tourists students etc no problem. 15 years ago youd never see a black guy in wroclaw krakow and even rarely warsaw outside the airport n business district. Hardly any tourisys back then. News / Poland's economic future? [294]

Still though, even putting in a cheap gas doesnt mean a min wage worker can easilt afford a 100k car even if its leased. Plus itd be arguably the worst way a pwrson thays slightly above povertt should spend their money. Walmart workers makr around 220 to 250 a weel after taxes. Thats 1k a month max. Say they even chose the cheaper lease of 500 a month. Thats half their salary right there. Add atleast 100 120 mininum a month (based on my expericne working for state farm a whole bacl) or insurance and thats on the absolute low end for full coverage and would assume an older person with a perfect driving record, living in th3 suburbs, married, home owner. If theyre a renter, arenr married, are a young male the cost jumps to easily 150 170 etc. Add 2 moving violations in 3 years and it easily goes to 170 180 200 or even more. Up to even 300 400 of they had a past dui and/or accident claims plus such an expensive car... some insurance companies wouldnt even underwrite a policy like that, i highly doubr state farm would esp with accidents or theyd charge a crazy amount. If theres over 2 accidents in 3 years no way will they underwrite it. But say even 100 for insurance. Add 10 a day average for gas, which wont get you very far. Work and back - maybe 30 40 mins of driving (which a 6k mile lease would likely be insufficent) but even if we lower it to say 50 a week... thats 500 lease, 100 insurance, 200 gas for a total of 800 a month absolute minimum assuming absolute lowest costs for gas and insurance. If a person is making 220 to 250 a week at mcds after taxes theyre left with 20 to 50 a week leftover after lease, gas and insurance.

Also you really cant put in regular esp not into a new mercedes. The engine will sound awful, youll feel the drive is different, and youll likely have nonstop check engine lights. Ive owned 3 e class and 2 s class in my life trust me u cant put in regular even in the older 2000s models. Mid grade yiu can get away with.

So yes a mcds person could in theory afford an s class if they meet all the criteria to pay a low rate, drive no more than an average of $7 of gas a day, and chose the lowest mile option. Then theyd have maybe $20-$100 a week left depending on their taxes although generallt walmart min wage and similar workers net like 250 a week. Theres no way theyd be able to affors anythinf but some cheap food after that and maybe a $50 cell phone bill.

Also theyd have to raise $5k atleast down payment which at a rate of 250 a week, all if nit almost all their money, would take a min 5 months to save. Plus, this is assuming that a dealership would lease a 100k car to someone making maybe 10k 12k 15k a year or so amd have ti have excellent credit to be considered. I dont think the lease department would even lease a car to someone like that unless they have a ridiculously high credit score.

Then again you do see people living in the hood on food stamps and driving a $60k bmw audi caddy ot whatever but thats usually bc theyre making cash and not reporting it and the car is often registered to someone else.

If a Mcd's worked say makes $250 - $300 a week, then yes, they'd be able to afford an S-class.... but they'de be able to afford little else like food or even the premium gas going in a 5.5liter v8 (for the base model) or insurance

but one still can when working in mickey dees(McDonalds) in Usa

No way dude, S-class lease is $899 a month, plus likely at least $5k-$7k down payment. A McD's worker making some $200-$300 a week couldn't afford that - no way.

It's a pity that we can't decommission their nuclear, because then they would soon swallow their pride.

Hopefully Iran one day does it for us.
