History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

Well...I don't remember any Poles here admitting freely from the start the big part that the Germans played in these now polish lands...as if admitting would make it less polish again...doesn't seem such a minority to me...

Do you remember the hot fights about this topic here on PF...my oh my :)

History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

There are alot of Poles downtalking the german presence in these lands even today, discussing any german history there as short and insignificant, fully trodding the propaganda line they were taught for decades.

As if Germans had been only a short, unhappy character for these polish only lands.
It's actual mainstream in Poland to see it that way...

That has nothing to do with the hate against german conquerors from 70 years back... That is the wish for greater Poland, not more, not less...only Lwow and co are still missing.

They would go to war if there were a chance!

I don't see these people hating Germans today for gaining these lands and getting a really homogenous population. Today they are quite glad about it and tell it that way.

It's shocking but true...

History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

I'm not saying it was a right thing to do - I'm only saying that I understand the emotions behind it.

I don't think that was the reason...it was a process over several years...the last wave had to leave in 1950 as the worst was already over.

It points more to the claiming of these "re-gained" territories as it was told from then on in the media...it was "pure and eternal polish territories which had been rightfully returned" and so on, the whole yadda yadda.

For that it was more convenient to erase all traces of century old evidence of german history as not to interfere with that new teaching of history.

The Ukrainians didn't feel such a need it seems...

I'm blaming the self-worshipping, half-witted
moral dwarves and traitors who currently rule Poland.

Don't we all! :)

But then...observed from the outside Poland looks okay...it could be (and often was) much much worse!

(At least you don't blame Germany! *phew*)

It means "a germanized Slav" ;)

Of course! :)

These are, surely,
very moderate expectations, don't you think?

I still don't know what you mean with that :(

Can you give an example for either:

A) servile russo-german condominium

and

B) what the deserved polish place in Europe would look like?

But I don't think you can blame the mass emigration on the countries who take the Poles in....Do you prefer a wall around Poland???

But leave your tanks at home when you come and visit again.

We come with Audis, Mercs and Beemers this time! :)

Mr. Szmidt

Polonization...that's so Schmidt! Should you meet him again ask him what Smith/Schmied means in polish.

Just watch and judge my good taste.

Your good taste (and your nose) rocks Adam...but I'm highly suspicous of ideologues trying to worm their way into otherwise fine brains...and so should you. There will never come something good out of it...like sirene songs, highly seductive in their promise to have all the easy answers to the problems of our time but the awakening will be bad.

Felt that way as I was there :)

There are 51 million Germans in teh US RIGHT NOW, or 17% of the U.S. population. Hmmm I’m wondering... 81 million in Germany and 51 million here. It doesn't look like mass immigration at all.

And it's still a top destination for Germans... :)

It means that we are currently well below the status that we deserve.

How so? What do you mean by that?

You are soon taking over the EU-presidency for 6 months...a Pole presides over the EU-parliament etc...

Poland stops being Germano-Russo footrest, and we finally take the place among
big, rich European countries, that we deserve.

Erm...what does that mean?

You know..that's the problem I have with you peoples discussion....it's all so wishy washy slogans...I want something more tangible...some real ideas...you know?

But now I want to hear the worst case scenario too! :)

With all due respect, BB, but I'd say my look on Poland is a little bit more accurate than yours.

Of course...I can only descibe a Poland I can see here from Berlin. And what I see is a respected country with nice renovated towns and an economy which avoided the pitfalls of the last years and is growing contrary to alot of other european quagmires. You have alot going for you!

(Okay, the football still sucks)

Germany is one of the richest and most successfull countries on Earth but we to have poorer people and also Kinderarmut. We try to help them out but no government can take all the responsibilities for the people, that would be socialism and that never works.

So again, what change do you have in mind?

"5 million Germans immigrated to the United States with a peak in the years between 1881 and 1885"
But i give you this, you have an ability to turn things around for better for yourself quickly.

Yeah...sorry I forgot to mention numbers from over 100 years back as the discussion was about today! :(

whilst the governing retards are literally beaming with satisfaction and self-worship.

Bummer that, I didn't know you have it so bad over there. And as I read your own life description it
didn't sound THAT bad...

You know what...that all sounds mightly like whining self-pity. You should really take a good look around with your stable, peaceful country, your growing economy and all.

Take an even wider look and compare rising Poland to the real hellholes of this planet and then maybe you change your priorities.

Instead of dreaming to create chaos aka "change" again work on making it better....it needs time and efforts but nobody else is to blame.

PS: your governing "retards" achieved that Poland is a respected country once again...something their predecessors really worked hard to destroy.

Anyway - you didn't answer my question. What do you think would happen in Germany?

I'm not sure what you mean...Germany hasn't any minimum wage..there are millions of workers living on 1200 -1400 Euros!
And your prices are in big part still cheaper than in Germany....hence the "border tourism". Germans driving over the border to shop.

We march on and pull through nonetheless...what are we supposed to do?

Okay...Germans don't emigrate in masses as Poles do but mainly because it's still a good life to have in Germany and somewhere else the grass is not that much greener! ;)

You know that Germany at that times suffered famines could only transport the money for a beer in a wheel cart?
That the reparations were crippling any rebuilding?

Now let me see the starving polish children of today...oh and the billions of EU support (you know...money going INTO Poland compared to being taken AWAY from Poland) are surely also only imaginations of my feverish mind.

Under such stress

Erm...you are not seriously comparing today's Poland to Germany in the 1920ies, don't you

I don't know, BB.

Well...there is no alternative than to cherish what you have and to look down to others who are much worse off!
Works like a charm! :)

I can live my life in full, as a man, a husband, a father and a Pole.

That's the way! *nods*

It could be so much worse...sometimes people forget about how privileged they are compared to billions of other Earthians...even the poor ones!

we will see how long they will serve cause - the existing pipelines are enough at the moment - on the other hand Nord Stream can thoroughly replace them in terms of capacity - so we will see if the existing pipelines will still serve

It's not only about capacity...it's about diversity.
As the spats with Poland and Ukraine showed it's not good for a such a high energy demanding country like Germany to put all their trust in only a few sources. Nord Stream just adds to the sources...as will others still to be build ones.

other countries will most probably suffer then

How?

still you are siding with the devil - if Russia is not neoimperialistic then I don't know what you call it - remember those journalists that dared to write truth about Chechnya wars (like Mr Politkovskaya)

Well...we are working on alternatives...but for the next few years do you have a better idea? Even if we would still only use the ones over Poland it would still come from Russia....where do you think most of Polands energy comes from???

no I say talking about things and trying to reach compromise is - Germany never tried to

What compromise?
It was either build or not build.
I remember a proposal to Warsaw to build some branches so that Poland would get also gas from Nord Stream....now guess how the potatoe heads reacted!

partners are considering each other's concerns and interests -

Yeah...as seen in the broad understanding of you to acknowledge Germany's energy concerns!

Germany does not seem to consider Polish interests and concerns

How so?

The old pipelines are still working, aren't they! There nothing has changed.

Germany claimed Europe needs strong leaders - are Mr Van Rompuy or Mrs Ashton strong leaders?

Well, that is far off the topic...

I just think Germany wanted to have more control over Europe

As I thought....your screaming about the pipeline has nothing to do with the facts but with "fighting german dominance" or whatever....as in true potatoe head spirit!

The fourth Reich is rising!! muhaha *insert devilish laughter*

care to comment???

Well, the article is of 2008, now is 2011 and I never heard of russian problems to deliver.
And once we paid Germany expects to get the gas so or so...*shrugs*

Don't tell me you are honestly interested if and how Germany get's it's energy...as if you care!

ROFL
I can ask you the same questions regarding Russia....(another country the potatoe heads liked to antagonize).

Still what do you mean exactly with "not treating Poland as partner"? Do you mean only a pipeline over polish lands would show true partnership?

You are not serious, aren't you....

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

I say you are not treating us as partners

You for sure seem to accuse Germans to in some way to betray Poland only because Germany builds a pipeline direct to Russia...

What has that to do with "treating Poland as partners"?

you are being paranoid here I would say -

Heh:) Says the one accusing Germany of a kind of betrayal against Poland? Says the one imagining Russians stopping delivery???

;)

I know you have an agenda with this Nord Stream thing for whatever reason

My "agenda" is to bring some economical pragmatism to all your hysterical " a new Molotov-Ribbentrop pact against us Poles" yadda.

name those nasty mistreatment of Germany by KaczyƄskis btw - cause you seem to conveniently circle around inconvenient questions

Polish Prime Minister: 'Something Very Negative' Happening in Germany

In a radio interview, Poland's prime minister issues an ominous warning about Berlin, implying that contemprorary Germany is comparable to the time that saw Adolf Hitler rise to power.

spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,489510,00.html

Under the Kaczynski twins, ties between Germany and Poland have deteriorated to a level of animosity not seen since prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain. This week, the mutual enmity is the main event on the European Union stage.

Just google, the net is still full of it....

btw Russia itself is a concern for Germany energy supplies as its own gas budget allows for very little margin at the moment (so if there is some unusually severe and long winter in Russia we may all be short of gas or Russian people will be freezing

The Nord-Stream is only one pipeline...we will still using the old pipelines too (also those from Poland) and invest in other newly build...it's called diversifying. Taking into account shortages and a heightened need for even more energy.
