News / Which French candidate for president will be best for Poland? [512]

Ha ha if anything 53%, mark my words.

Showing your ignorance there Ironside. These aren't exit polls, but rather representative polls taken from actual votes all over France. They're much more reliable than exit polls, hence why Le Pen conceded almost instantly.

Incidentally, all the American Trump lovers have been going insane online. Their ideology has been clearly rejected, no matter how many bizarre and illogical things they write online. The era of populism is ending as quickly as it began, with not a single victory for populists this year in Europe.

The continued rejection of the right wing continues in Europe. It's clear that Russian-backed populism has had its day, and with the AfD in electoral trouble in Germany, it seems that 2017 marks the year of the fight back against such parties. Austria, the Netherlands and now France have clearly rejected such parties, and the reaction from Russian trolls online is plain to see.

The Dutch and now French voting for the future and not for divisive undereducated demagogues who offer no credible policies.

It's a clear rejection of the Russian-backed populism that our non-Polish posters on here have been pushing down our throats. One has to ask why they were so adamant that Le Pen offered the best hope for Poland when every Polish person (including the government) knew that Le Pen was the party of Russia.

Looks like this will be yet another failure for the right - they've failed in the UK a few days ago, they failed in the Dutch elections, they're failing now and they're going to fail in Germany.

Europe is clearly rejecting the cancer that is Russian-financed nationalism, and we're all the better for it.

Latest poll shows Le Pen has fallen since the debate, and the betting odds show huge amounts of money being placed on Macron.

Don't worry, we promise to laugh all the way at you Americans come Sunday night. Your Russian ideology is failing miserably.

Macron has banned popular international media outlets RT and Sputnik from his campaign headquarters and his private events which most media sources are more or less automatically allowed to cover.

Good. RT and Sputnik are pushing a huge amount of propaganda into Europe, in the grand traditions of Radio Moscow.

Quite a reasonable course of action to ban one of the worst propaganda networks in Europe today.

Just to reinforce what the Americans are saying about Russia - independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/russia-james-comey-hearing-putin-greatest-threat-any-nation-earth-a7716016.html

FBI Director James Comey says that Russia is the "greatest threat of any nation on Earth, given their intent and capability."

Let us remind Poland that Le Pen's campaign has been funded with Russian cash and she has pledged to eliminate sanctions against Russia. Our American allies are certainly well aware of the dangers posed by Le Pen.

Le Pen has accused Macron of being a puppet

Compared to Le Pen, who is a Russian puppet and owes her position to a huge Russian loan?

Le Pen is the answer to give France to Russia.

There, fixed that for you.

Life / Advice needed on Dental implant in Poland [119]

I contacted Velcure and received quotes from different doctors

No, you didn't. You're spamming on behalf of them.

Telltale sign: you're using "quotes", which is a transference error from Polish ;)

Real Estate / Buying property at the Bailiff / Enforcement Agent Auction (Komornik Sądowy) in Poland [20]

There's not that much liquidity on the Polish market, so I wouldn't place much in it. You could do well by looking into so-called 'mikroapartamenty', as these are likely to go up in price if they're located in good areas, and you could probably get good yields on them from all the korpoludki moving to Poland.

And with speculating whether or not the Putinists have a hand in those, somewhere down the line.

It's now becoming very, very clear that Russian tactics are working. They've got a firm hold in Hungary, they (along with their puppet Assange) had a role in the US elections and in Brexit and they're heavily influencing the French election. Europe simply isn't prepared for this onslaught, and if Le Pen wins, Russia will almost certainly see 30 million dollars as a good investment for buying off countries.

What's disturbing is the way that our American friends here see Yalta 2 as being perfectly acceptable. By openly calling for a Le Pen victory, they're as good as leaving Poland to the Russians.

I don't think Macron winning is a done deal to be honest, but if she wins, I think it will spell the beginning of the end for the EU.

I was intrigued by this possibility a few days ago, and actually, it transpires that the French President isn't anywhere near as powerful as it seems. They are mostly ceremonial in nature, but because there are elections to the National Assembly shortly afterwards, it usually meant that the party winning the Presidency would win in the National Assembly as well. In this case, there's no chance of the NF winning there, so she could potentially be a lame duck president, similar to how Lech Kaczyński was under PO.

40% youth unemployment rate is successful ?

Actual number is 23.7%. Do try and post facts rather than myths.

I forgot to mention that it is also the most visited tourist destination in the world. Not bad, really.

A large successful economy, a powerful domestic defence industry, a highly successful high speed train network, a thriving aerospace company, incredible food and drink, being the architect of European integration and so much more.

Work / What qualifications are required to teach English in Poland? Completed 2 week TEFL course [53]

it's the student that try to learn from bad British materials I feel bad for....

In all fairness, the worst collection of books I've ever seen were the "Fun for..." series designed for the Cambridge YLE exams and published by Cambridge ESOL. Total and complete garbage and even worse than the terribly bad Hot Spot series.

They certainly don't want her or any other Putinist. No decent person would.

It's clear that she's going to be rejected. No doubt the pro-Russian trolls on this site will claim that it's a major victory, but the reality is that 30 million Euro of Russian cash isn't going to buy her the election.

Are you sure all Polish work visa's will be cancelled ?

There's no such thing in the European Union. We can live and work freely everywhere, which is what Le Pen wants to stop. Make no mistake, there are plenty of angry French workers that aren't happy with cheaper Poles.

Most are only temporary workers anyways.

Evidence is showing that the emigration westwards is permanent for many people.

Poland is forced to take economic immigrants when they don't have enough work for their own people

Poland has more than enough work. Why do you think a million Ukrainians have turned up? It's nearly impossible in big cities to find enough workers.

Le Pen wants to shut the borders

Le Pen wants to shut the borders to all migrants, legal or otherwise. There are Polish families dependent on the income received from working in France. It's really not so difficult to work out, unless you want Polish families to suffer.

Just do 6-7 hours part time after work and pocket the money.

You can legally declare these without any hassle, just a simple form to the tax office.

Agreed with what you say about language schools though. Most of them are run by paranoid, neurotic wrecks.

I used to have a simple policy with language schools as a freelancer years ago - if you don't pay me on time, you've got 7 days to pay. If you don't pay, I'm going straight to HR and discussing with them when I can expect to receive my payment, while our cooperation is immediately over.

Poland has to realize that they are a key player in the future of Europe.

With what? No natural resources beyond heavily polluting coal, an economy hugely dependent on transfers from the EU and not much in the way of domestic industry beyond state-owned monopolies, right?

Le Pen will be Poland's best choice in the long run by far.

Again we see you pushing a pro-Russia agenda. Le Pen is the best option for those that want Poland under Russian dominance, which is about 1-2% of Polish society.

Law / Stopped by the Poland's Police for no reason while walking at night [94]

Did you hear about what happened in Slupsk awhile back ?

That was 20 years ago. Things have changed dramatically in Poland, not least because the old Milicja methods of policing have long gone.

Compare and contrast to aljazeera.com/news/2016/09/video-shows-police-shoot-kill-unarmed-black-man-160920042318546.html - where a black man that had already surrendered was shot dead because...well he was black.

Law / Stopped by the Poland's Police for no reason while walking at night [94]

They do not see civilians as someone to protect but rather as potential targets.

Didn't they gun down someone sitting innocently in his car not so long ago?

Operating under the assumption of "guilty unless proven otherwise, and probably guilty nonetheless". Where did USA go wrong?

Never mess with an American cop that hasn't had his donuts and coffee yet.

riskology.co/traffic-stop

This is absolutely insane. If you scroll down, you can see advice about only opening the window 1/4th of the way, putting your hands on the wheel and not answering questions. Does anyone need any more reason as to why American police are insane?

Polish police are nothing like that. Even if they check your documents and the car, there's no harm whatsoever in being friendly and talking to them. I remember they wanted to check the car once, and I had a nice conversation with them while showing them good potential places to hide something in these models of cars. Of course, because I was friendly and cooperative, they had no reason to bother checking elsewhere in the car. If I had been a dick about it, they almost certainly would have caught the long-expired fire extinguisher.

Europe is crumbling so breaking up the EU is the best thing that could happen to help Europe recover.

Between 70-80% of Poles don't want that. Why are you pushing something on PolishForums that isn't wanted by the Polish people?

Looking straight in the eyes is a sign of honesty.

It's like when you get stopped for speeding. Looking the police officer in the eyes, smiling and admitting to what you've done is a good way to get away with it. Staring sullenly at your shoes and being all "yes sir, no sir" is a guaranteed way to get yourself fined.

Language / Any good English term for lewactwo and derivatives? [16]

Isn't lewak a higher degree of lewicowość, ie more radical leftism?

It's hard to say, because for me, lewak is rather about those hard socialists who advocate really hard left wing policies and support using violence to achieve their aims (so - really - anarchist), while lewicowość is rather more about old school trade union politics, which don't really have a parallel in Poland.

And yes, American politics is stupid like this. It's becoming the same in Poland - "lewak" being used for anyone that supports even centrist social politics such as the current stance on abortion. It's the same reason that PiS can't be described as Catholic Socialists, even though there's nothing at all wrong with the title - they pursue Catholic policies socially and socialist policies economically.
