Intentional Miscegenation in Poland [26]
America has always prided herself on being a melting-pot society. However nice sounding the words, the reality has been far different for all except perhaps for those immigrant communities themselves.
Run-away diversity coupled with affirmative action have crippled America.
Although as a Jew myself, I naturally cannot bring myself to side with one-time Senator Cabot Lodge who once stated during the end of the 19th century that Southern Europeans, including even Slavs as well (along with Eastern European Jews) were an unassimilable element within the predominantly W.A.S.P., Northern European culture at that era, I do feel that the ever-prevalent allure of cheap labor has degraded the once proud United States and turned that erstwhile "culture" into something less than desirable to those who grew up and knew far better times aka the Roosevelt Era. Many African-Americans apparently also would tend to agree with me:-)
When my grandparent came here, one of the first things they did was to learn English morning, noon, and night, assimilate as much as they possibly could, secure employment and become as self-sufficient as humanly possible. For a family of at least eight, this was a indeed a heroic feat.
No era is perfect and yet I find myself understanding Poland's dilemma more rather than less.
