History / just before the war the Polish/Ukrainian szlachta learned Ukrainian [243]

they 'got their share' from their own government which starved them.

NO, it was the Soviet government.

the point I was trying to make was that they starved, not who's fault it was.

I think the the operating body (the Soviet government) was a crucial part of the Holodomor. I also think that there is nothing uplifting about starving people: Ukrainians or not.

I wonder what according to you happened in Volhynia. Your explanation 'from Kievan Rus to WW2 slaughter' is a little too vague. Would you say something similar in court, as an advocate of a Ukrainian who brutally murdered thousands of Poles?

we are not in court.

Genocide is the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group.

agree, therefore Ukrainians experienced genocide by Poles for centuries.

Who would dare to criticize those Ukrainian Angels?

I have been on this board for a while and Ukrainians have been criticized on an ongoing basis. You don't expect me to take responsibility for the action of somebody else, or do you? I am not comfortable with the collective responsibility. I personally would never kill anybody, but a war and ethnic conflicts is a different story and I am not in a position to judge either side.

As long as they don't 'lie', they can sleep in peace.

Ukrainians got their share from the hands of other nations. What boggles my mind is the fact that many posters here are playing victims.

I said it a long time ago: it is up the both of the governments to clear and apologize, only then both sides will be able to move on.

You mean in the same way Hitler hated Jews and he had reasons, and retaliation is what happened. Of course, on a different scale, but the same principle applies.

NO, I did not mean that. Of course you are free to interpret what I said they way you wish. Far fetched interpretation, but there is nothing I can do:).

I am not 'new here!!.. it's just I don't like to waste my time with people kind of like you- aphrodisiac or 1jola

I am glad we are on the same page:)

Link to what?

you said that one of his mottos was: freedom through genocide. Can you provide a link or you just basing it on a general interpretation of the history?

Bandera hated Poles just like many Ukrainians did and they had reasons. Retaliation is what happened.

If you were intelligent enough, you'd know what I meant by the name "Krzyżacy"

intelligence is about expressing yourself clearly and to the point and you confuse it with sarcasm and contempt for other posters.
Nuf said.

Yes, one of his mottos was: Freedom through genocide of the Polish minority.

Link please.
Genocide? Hmm.......Holodomor was a genocide. I know most of the Polish posters speak with anger and pain because you lost families, land, but that is what happens when somebody tries to show another religion down the throat for extended period of time. Ukraine , or rather Kievan Rus was a center of an Orthodox religion and a very powerful one at that.

My noble Polish ancestors (my fathers side) were killed by the UPA banda (Ukrainians). If you see a movie called 'Krzyżacy", that's how Ukrainian nationals treated Polish noble people/ szlachta people! My Polish grand..father was cut into half by them and it happened during a WWII.

I am hoping that Krzyzacy is not the only source of your history education.

Anyways,

I wish you didn't have that glaze of deception over your eyes..

what is so weird about it. Russians admired Stalin at one point too. Bandera stood for everything Ukrainian and for the luck of a better hero he has to do for now:).

Besides, you all can talk about for years. He will always remain a symbol of somebody who wanted Ukraine to be free.

It is easy to criticize another nationality, so we don't have too look at our own mistakes.

Law / The 'Secret' of Poland's Economic Success [83]

You don't seriously think, that the only criteria a company would take into consideration is the cost of labour?

unfortunately this is usually the first thing the investor will consider and it is Economics 101.

At some point of time this will change, as Ireland has shown.

true. Business management 101;).

And finally Geography 101: location, location, location. Wait, it is real estate 101;)

Poland should lover its small business taxes, so the small Polish business will get a break (economy:101)

News / Poland: In Top First 15 Countries in the WORLD by the number of CRIMES [286]

it's funny that you keep denying that some ethnic groups are more criminal than others.

because it is not true. It is a myth, most statistics state otherwise- that is if you looked at them, but then again, all the statistics lie, so this discussion does not make sense.

sorry, but that's bullsh#t. nobody needs to rob somebody to survive.
they want to be rich quick and they don't care about making innocent (usually white) victims.

looks like you found a scapegoat- crimes are not exclusive to race but to the social class.

USA, Canada / Most common ancestries in the USA [56]

You should begin this rather basic aspect of communication before you lose the ability to do 'critical thinking'.

ha, ha- you do have sense of humour , ha, ha............right back at yah.........you have not provided anything which will change my opinion my dear Zimmy. Besides, you will not read anything, unless it has you fingerprint on it. Why would I even try to try to communicate with you. I like to save my energy for worthy causes but our opinions are opposite of each other and it would be silly of me to try to change your mind, wouldn't it? :)

USA, Canada / Most common ancestries in the USA [56]

It is true that I've proven my points by backing them up with links.

lately youtube links- are you running out of options?;)

That seems to be an alien concept to you so just continue going with your 'feelings' about things instead.

Oh, so I need to provide links to be credible - interesting. Do you suggest I use Ali G in order to be a partner in a discussion with you?

In this way your self-centered prejudiced convictions will remain intact and this emotional cover will distance you from the threat of objective reality.

right back at you:)

Work / Is it normal for companies/schools in Poland to be rude? [116]

very insular of you Torq. So if that is the case why so many Polish people accept the welcoming of other countries when they leave their great Poland to make money somewhere else. Just wondering.

the end of golden days for foreigners in Poland earning ridiculous amounts of money.

you sound very envious Torq. Envy and inferiority complex has passed onto another generation already and it is a characteristic, which is really difficult to get rid of.

that sounds very unreasonable to me. Most of those people you are talking about will always have a better grasp of English because it is their first language, which does not mean that they are good teachers. Some of the Polish teachers are really good too. Some of the foreign teachers are very good as well. It depends on the person really.

As for the training - well, maybe Poland should concentrate of training their stiff better.

I guess what it boils down to is the stiff job market competition within the teaching industry.

Off-Topic / Europe according to Poles and other European nations [44]

According to Canadians:

USA- - think that Canada is another American state, we let them fish and shoot our game for big bucks since they have killed all the wild game while playing with their guns

Poland- pickles, sour kraut, Walesa and big, blue - eyes women, pierogies, cabbage rolls
Germany- the country of engineers
France- they have good wines and cheeses, but we have our own
Great Britain -they are still coming over here and showing off their accent?
South America- their "export" is becoming a competition to our small but excellent grass
Russia- beautiful women who speak Russian and are willing to marry a regular Joe to get a passport,
Scottish and Irish- our relatives (especially during St Patrick's day), can drink any Canadian under the table
Australia- cangaroo riders, expensive vacation
New Zeland- even more expensive vacation - but the pics are worth putting on Facebook
Greece- restaurant owners, vacation
China- next empire
Cuba- very cheap vacation
Japan- a country when a fresh univeristy graduate goes to teach English in order to pay off the student loan

News / Freezing weather in Poland, 42 people dead in winter freeze... and no-one cares? [140]

I have heard that too.
The dog survived 5 days/5 nights of freezing weather. Got on the ice somewhere around Grudziac and was rescued on the the Gdanska Bay on Baltic sea. He was adopted by the rescue ship grew and renamed Baltic ( the same as the rescue ship).
