Law / Motorcycling Business In Poland [10]

Biking is very popular in Poland...I am a Brit who has lived in north west Poland for around five years , and was one of the organisers of a Zlot ( rally ) that takes place near my farm every year...gets bigger every year..! I guess sports bikes are the most popular , but plenty of off road and touring stuff too..

I own a Harley myself , and the Harley rallies are always booked up whenever we have them...

If there is anything i can help you with ...just ask...

Life / Polish men mostly have short hair, why? [43]

I notice that Polish boys mostly have very short hair, I just wonder why?

Because nobody could tell who was male and who was female otherwise...

If you like the Polish short hair look , but live in the UK in an area where there are no Polish guys , then i reccomend you try a gay disco...The guys in there look exactly the same...!

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

Nooo certainly not...i have the greatest respect for Polish pilots , some of my friends are Polish military pilots...But i just wonder if there is something wrong with the way they are trained or the rules for flying in dodgy conditions...

Its because i have Polish friends who fly that i worry that there is something wrong with the system...!

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

Whilst looking at similar stuff on the internet i discovered that aircrew flying important Polish people into the ground is nothing new...

Apart from the crash which killed the president in Smolensk , and the casa crash that killed the top military people , there was a previous crash in a helicopter that almost killed a Polish president...The president praised the pilot for saving his life by crash landing the helicopter , but the pilot was later charged over the crash...

Prior to this a lot of other important government people died in a crash near Szczecin , so it seems there is a bit of a history of Polish pilots crashing planes with important people on board....

Maybe its time they had a look at the way pilots are trained in Poland..something is clearly going wrong...!

David Duke, raised the point about the impact with the trees. I really can't comment on this but he was saying that clipping the tree wouldn't have irreperably damaged the wing. The 'oh kur*a' shouts from the cockpit would tend to suggest the pilots had another point of view ;)

Believe me...hitting trees of any size with an aluminium wing at 180 mph is going to result in damage , and its not going to take a very thick tree to rip the wing in half... The wings are made to take the stresses of flying and landing , not high speed contact with ground objects....

I remember flying in Russia with some friends in a light aircraft.....When we returned to the airfield we had taken off from we found a real pea souper , could not see a thing..!

My friend took it down as low as was safe , but we still could not see any ground...Diverting to another airfield meant we would have been a long way from our car...The temptation to go just a bit lower in order to spot that runway was there , but in the end we decided that being a long way from our car was better than having our heads a long way from our asses..!

Here is another report of that casa crash...spookily similar to the Smolensk crash don,t you think....these pilots were trained no doubt by the same instructers that the Smolensk crew were....

The crash of the CASA C-295 is being blamed on pilot error. According to the official report, visibility was low and the pilot likely tried to land by sight. In the first landing attempt, the ILS landing system, which directs pilots to the landing strip, malfunctioned. During the second landing attempt, the pilot tried to land by sight and did not realize he was flying too low. The plane clipped trees and fell apart.

Well , of course he thought he was going to get away with it...There was every chance that any small gap in the clouds might give them a glimpse of that runway and enable them to put the aircraft down safely...

I am guessing that like the crash of the casa aircraft the crew were peering intently out of the windows desperate for that sight of the runway , and did not take as much notice as they should have as to how low they were actually flying...They were looking out of the window and not at the instruments that would have revealed how dangerously low they were....

By the time they hit the first tree it was beyond saving ... the aircraft was still decending , a split second later they lost half a wing and the aircraft rolled over into the ground.....

What kind of a pilot ignores multiple warnings and his own TAWS system?

The kind of pilot that has the boss stood beside him...and the president of his country a few seats further back..Here was a chance to go down in history as the pilot that screwed up an important ceremony for Poland by chickening out of a tricky landing...or to go a bit lower than was safe in order to complete the mission and emerge a hero...

Its not all all uncommon for pilots to want to please the boss when he is on board , and there have been many incidents due to this situation...

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

This crash occurred near my home , friends of mine had people they knew on board...The accident was caused basically because the crew were ignoring their instruments while all looking out of the window to catch a glimpse of the ground in bad weather....Does this sound very similar to another more recent accident involving a Polish president..? The Russians were nowhere this one.....

Mirosławiec air accident occurred in Poland at 19:07 CET on 23 January 2008. An EADS CASA C-295 military transport plane of the Polish Air Force flying from Warsaw to the 12th Air Base in Mirosławiec crashed as it approached the Mirosławiec runway. All passengers and crew aboard were killed.[1] There were 20 victims, among them high-ranking air force officers.[2] This accident was the first serious accident of a CASA C-295. The primary cause of the accident was determined to be an inadvertent loss of spatial and situational awareness by the aircraft crew during the landing approach in poor weather conditions, with a low cloud ceiling and little visibility.[3] A number of secondary causes and contributing factors were also found by the investigation after the accident, including deficiencies in the air traffic controllers' skills and methods of directing and controlling the landing.[4]

After the accident, all Polish C-295s were grounded until further notice.[5] The Polish defence minister Bogdan Klich dismissed five air force personnel after the accident investigation concluded that multiple failings contributed to the crash

Seems to me the Polish air force needs to take a long hard look at the way it does things....

Where were the evasive maneuvers?

At 180 mph in thick fog they were not likely to have seen the trees they hit , their first warning of disaster was when the wing hit them , a second later , hitting a bigger tree tore half the wing off and the aircraft turned upside down...there was no chance of any evasive maneuvers...Once half the wing had gone , they were going to crash , nothing they could do to prevent it...!

they waited until the height radar said 20meters before taking over control.

At which point they were actually below the level of the runway , and flew into an upwardly sloping hill before they reached it...

They must have been well aware , or should have been , that they were dangerously close to the ground in a hilly area covered in trees , and all this in very low visability...They were taking a huge risk , and sadly paid the price for it...

It could be staged - I mean the accident !It could be done.

Yep..easy enough...kidnap the entire Polish elite , murder them..take em to Smolensk...steal an identical aircraft , smash it up ,and scatter the bits in Katyn forest , then claim there was a tragic accident...!

It would take a bit of planning...but its possible....

History / DID THE COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT OF POLAND CENSOR MAIL IN AND OUT OF POLAND [29]

Yes it was built specifically to destroy armour...but not to counter the Soviet threat , it was not around in those days...It would have been a case of Nato troops and tanks trying to stop them , and when we failed , due to sheer weight of numbers tactical nuclear weapons would have been used...We were sure we were better trained and equipped than the Russians , but we just didn,t have the numbers...We would have been in the same position as the German elite tank units in the second war...we could destroy five of their tanks for every one of ours , but there would always be six...!

Related: A documentary about censorship In PRL (Poland before 1989)

A fascinating read about communist censorship in Poland: arts.gla.ac.uk/Slavonic/staff/Blackbook.html

The Black Book of Polish Censorship (Czarna ksiega cenzury PRL) consists of approximately 700 pages of classified documents, which the Cracow censor, Tomasz Strzyzewski, smuggled out of People's Poland to Sweden in February 1977. Strzyzewski had collected, copied and removed these materials from his office between the summer of 1975 and his departure. The London emigre publisher Aneks published them first in two volumes in 1977. Subsequently, extracts were published in Poland, appearing in the bulletin of the oppositionist Workers' Defence Committee as well as in other underground journals such as Zapis (The Record). The "second circulation" publisher NOWA issued selections from the materials in book form in 1977 in a run of some 1500 copies, making it one of the biggest underground publications in the pre-Solidarity era .[...]

Things like that were little stones which gradually made an avalanche which toppled communism.

Poland: PLEASE learn from our mistakes before it's too late!

Sadly , i think its human nature to follow what appears to be a better lifestyle...Poland will try to be like the UK...The UK will follow the USA.....one day the whole world will be like America.... if we don,t all kill each other before then....
