Life / Woman on Wigilia spells bad luck in Poland [6]

Acccording to Old Polish Wigilia lore, if the first person to visit your home on Chrsitmas Eve is a woman, that means bad luck in the year ahead.

They always degrade women in Poland

Love / WHY DO POLISH MEN LIE? [150]

All men lie not just polish men!

Everybody can lie, but Polish men do it more. For example you want to but a car in Poland from some guy. He will never tell you the truth about it, what accident it had, what repair work was done, etc. Polish men lie and hide the truth and don't tell you the whole story. They always have an inner thirst for something more without telling you what it is and many are dishonest.

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

Or what about WORLD Series?Only Yanks (and Canadians?) play yet you call it WORLD Series.

So which sport are you talking about? Only football and baseball isn't played in Poland because they would never understand or follow the rules. Golf is becoming popular there. They only play soccer, which is a game for children and little girls and never taken seriously.

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

A numbers of immigrants from said country's ( visa waiver) combined, equal number of a potential immigrants from Poland !

You cannot become an immigrant on a visa waiver program. No lawyer will help you get one either. If they overstay their visa they become illegals. Tghere are other ways some become legal here, but the visa waiver is not one of them. You have to return to your country and many do, unfortunately the Poles don't when on a tourist visa.

As long as your government wont be willing to solve the problem of immigration, you will be screwed again and again!!!

Lol, our gov is willing and prisons are full of immigrants. AZ is a prime example but the illegal immegrants oppose it

Life / Is Poland a place of high culture? [36]

If Poles think so about their country, that's a good sign because they always complain about everything

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

I mean, to each their own, but not locking your doors at night and leaving livestocks outside bc you don't feel like bringing them in is looked at as being rather behind-the-times by some

Depends where you live. I never lock my doors, neither does my mom.
People leave horses out on pasture all the time and it's not because they don't feel like bringing them in, it's just the way everybody does it. Nobody steals horses around here, you would have to come with a trailer at night, catch the horse and pray it will load and not kill you. A horse in a barn is easier to catch. Horses are so cheap now it's hard to give them away. Boarding stables have inside and outside stables. Some get locked in, some don't. It's not behind the times, just the way it's done. Many horses in MT, WY, SD and ND are kept outside all year, with only trees for shelter. Many are wild horses which were broken in and are used to this and go crazy when locked up. So it's not behind the times, it's just the way it is done. Horses are tough, just like cattle is outside in the winter. They are fed extra ration of grains to keep them fat, they grow fur and they survive.

My point to my statement is that it has nothing to do with living in the US bc many Americans DON"T do that

Many Americans do that. You must not know many equestrians or cowboys.

Life / How do the Polish feel about air pollution in their cities? [35]

What would you heat your houses with if not with coal? Poland isn't a rich country to insure a change to every house to heat with electricity or gas. People are used to the smell and it doesn't bother them.

News / US Military: The Army of Poland is crap. [124]

Shooting at a bunch of civilians and children from a helicopter for example, and calling it a mistake.

In war innocent people die. Doesn't matter who shoots at who, there will always be innocent people caught in the middle. You make it sound like all Americans go and shoot children but you do not know how many wish they were never there. You don't realize that American soldiers have families, children at home but were enlisted and shipped out somewhere where they would rather not be. They would prefer to stay home with their families than go shoot at children. It is war, innocent die and the soldiers when they do come back suffer mental anguish from seeing how life is destroyed. You make it sould like we are ruthless people with no feelings and emotions. But the military does not represent all Americans.

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

i asked him the same question and basically he said, "respect". it pisses him off

What about "respect" to America? They come here and have no respect to our laws, no respect to our poeple, no respect to our food. Everything here is fat, dumb and stupid. So why do Poles want to come here?

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

Ah yes, America....the land of milk and honey

Good pictures. So why do Poles get mad when their visas are refused? We are all fat here. We eat people so they better not come here.

Love / Should I still go to my Polish ex boyfriends parents house for Christmas? [13]

He's annoying you. A person can only take so much. Who cares what his mother thinks, what he thinks, you are in charge of your own life, you make the decissions that make you happy. Be strong otherwise people will run all over you if you don't stand up for yourself and for what makes you happy. Don't worry about what he says, you will never be happy with him if he annoys you. He doesn't respect you, doesn't respect your feelings then why should you respect his? He will continue to act stupid and you will say nothing just to please him and this will kill you from the inside.

Just shut that door and don't look back. Make a new path towards your own happiness.

Love / Getting to know a Polish Man who's first time he'e ever been in the USA [12]

Some people take longer to adjust to a new country, everything is new to him. He just came here to make money, like most Poles do. He works hard because then he can make more money. He's not here for relationships, he wants to make money and go back to Poland, rich. He has certain goals which you don't even know about. He doesn't want to get involved, some Polish guys have an opinion made about American women, that they are loose and easy even though this is a generalization and a misconception they fail to understand. So be careful, don't get too involved in him, he doesn't think much about you. Get to know him first, Polish men like to hide things, they are not as open with their thoughts as the Americans which makes it hard to understand them, not knowing what they are really about. They always are hiding something, and he is not telling you everyting. You opened up to him but he won't open up to you. Be careful.

News / Upping the speed limit in Poland [92]

The speed limit should be lowered in Poland. There are too many hot-headed, irresponsible nervous drivers causing too many accidents.

Life / How to Politely Refuse a Drink in Poland [72]

Maybe in USA is something natural but in my opinion only completely irresponsible people or advanced alcoholics drive UI.

lol. Police take drunk driving VERY seriously here. You lose your license, go to classes, get arrested, pay a fine. You do not want to get caught driving drunk in the US. It is a crime.

But In Poland there are many more accidents of DUI, they just don't take it seriously as a crime and many more Poles drink than Americans. I have seen all those pijaks going home after drinking all day. Living in a city with a large Polish population in the US, you will see polish pijaks pissing up buildings

Love / Polish girls fall for Indian guys ? [217]

Men also smell - like curry. You go to a motel own by Hindus and you know right away they own it. The smell is so bad and the motel is so filthy that you have to watch where you're going so you don't step on a holerny cockroach.

History / What was better in Poland under communism? [67]

Yeah I agree, Poles didn't do that where I lived either. It was just the opposite, for example they would kill a cow or pig, make kielbasa or steaks and sell it to neighbors and friends without telling the gov because under communism the gov wanted to know everything about you, how many cows, pigs, chickens you had, when did you kill them and what did you do with the meat, etc. Money was tight that's why people never fully gave the correct answers and would cover each other then kill the pig, make sausages, sell it and have money.

The lines were unbelievable in stores, specially the masarnias. People would stand in line 2-3 hours before the store would open to get a piece of wątróbki or schabowy and if you came to late, you got screwed.

The movie "nie lubię poniedziałku" or the seriał " zmiennicy" is an excellent example how Poles lived in those communistic times. many movies were made about communistic Poland. When toilet paper was brought in to a store, poeple would buy as many as they could carry. The stuff was tied up together with a string through the middle. It was worse than sand paper, but hey, they had some hard asses.

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

Polish meat and milk is really fat. Not healthy for the cholesterol conscious. Hard to find lean meat in Poland. Also too much kiełbasas consumed in Poland causing liver problems.
