UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

Since noone answered you...Polish govt would welcome there stay till they probably can get any kind of investment visa or such...and poles will welcome that.:)

Thanks :)

Its the little insights, not big issue arguements, that let me know what it may be like to live in day to day Poland

Love / Woman 23, man 47 years old. What do you think about ? [162]

Children make mistakes, when they do, parents are probably best advised to be there for them, love them and help them recover.

^^This

I might ask some questions...try to see what led them to the unusual choice. Especially if it seemed sudden. I would warn them of obstacles, the kind that can stress and break relationships. But in the end I love my children and they are not me...they are their own person. I trust them as well adjusted individuals to make stable choices in most things. Though love is always a gamble.

I wish for their success in their wants and their happiness, how could I not support them, specially when they are not hurting anyone.
But really as long as the person was treating them well (amd they were not becoming monsters to that person) and they were content, I would have little else to say except are there any foods they're allergic to? and leave off the Christmas dinner menu. I guess it would seem odd to be calling a person that could be my peer 'daughter/son". But I'm sure if they were a sweet person that made my baby happy... the oddness would fade.

Love / Polish men :( demand forgiveness [35]

(Caraj: 'if I have to sleep with her (meaning me), I will imagine your face)This sentence is enough to dump him.I guess you don't want to be with someone who doesn't appreciate you.Good luck girl.

I second that emotion.!!!!

Caraj That kinda of attitude is NOT good for you. I don't think that specifically is Polish thing. But it is BAD thing. And every day you spend with Mr Right Now is a day you will never spend with a possible Mr. Right.

While he was my BF, my Fiance didnt demand forgiveness during our one break, he pleaded.. (and he did nothing even CLOSE to such disrespect to me and to us! kicked me to the friend zone when he had heavy familial pressure) and it has been nothing to this day but what was promised for 11 mos as engaged.

Love can fade or be mistaken.. and it's removal is painful... but disrespect or mistreatment is intolerable.

If you peek at threads with those that positively promote Polish men, you will realize...if a traditional male like most Polish are respects you and KNOWS wishes to spend his whole life with you ..you are his best friend, his Princess, his Lady, his Queen , his goddess; all in one. And he will rope the moon for you.

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

Question:
So should they do so ..would they have to take the shoe from the other foot?

Would they expect this referendum on immigration to stay one way?..why should other countries honor the treatise that allowed their nationals abroad any special VISA or immgration perks. What if other countries revoked these things such as foreign ownership of vacation or retirement properties (Mexico and S.A. do this all the time with major government changes. Never buy property in Costa Rica you want to keep) and refilled Britain with all of those who recently left?

Would that help Britain? in long run?

And also: Would the Polish government give any "EU" priviledges to British Expats on their soil that were not naturalized yet? Or kick all but the most lucrative businesses out? ^_^

Just asking.... to get an idea how Polish government might sway on this type issue

Life / Question on the average Parish in Poland [6]

Because the insular history most Parishes probably are made up of local population?
But if say myself, moves to Poland... how big is the difference between Polish RC and regular(vatican)and Latino RC?

Do they require many classes to join the new parish or require documents from your baptismal church to ensure your ^_^ "catholicness".
How much of the service is Latin as opposed to Polish?

If married in RC church in US, would Polish RCC require remarriage?

There is plenty of time before I would find myself living in Poland. But I always like pre-planning so I have more than one avenue to take.

in an aside:
His family and mine (..and me) are more traditional than he personally is. He attends few services. Not for lack of faith but for scheduling and studies for his degree.

Love / Woman 23, man 47 years old. What do you think about ? [162]

In 1963..I think there was slightly looser definitions. Specially when the man is the older person.

Though the first time they got married it was out of country. They remarried in a US both church and civil a year later with parental permission (which I think cost him 3? or 5 million...lol. her parents SOLD her). They didnt divorce until 1991; though they separated in 76.

They had a huge gap... yep..some gaps are uncrossable.. he was unfaithful-she was crazy.

actually to be fair, they were content couple many years.

USA, Canada / Better life in USA or Canada? - expats opinions and your comparison [143]

I worked w/ some canucks abroad n they appeared very limited though knew a lot about hockey...To my shock, Canadians were very racists

0_0
I used to go with Canook buds to Whistler when I was in WA state. I raced a few too. Though I would use non-confrontationaland MELLOW with capitol M; I never detected anything like an inferiority conplex. Some of the East Coast canadians that were AZ snowbirds were kinda insufferable, but I always found Canadians to be congenial folk like Dakotans.

Never noticed any racist tendencies.
I did notice a lot of them in that particular circle..genX or Xgame types; are Potheads like many granola crunchers from the Northcoast US west. I do mean a LOT.

If you dont mind cold..want stable lackluster healthcare and a slower pace of life..I'd pick Canada. Specially if you are avid woodsman/hunter.

But even in the current illness, the US is still a place of MUCH more opportunity for motivated or entrepeneur types. More diversity. More climate choices. More choices of type enviroment (rural? agricultural? Urban? Suburban? Tourist? Beaches? Islands? Tropics? Mtns? Deserts? by a river? lake? stream? Seaside? woodlands? Forests?....name your poison partner!)

News / Highlights of passing year, in Poland (or elsewhere) which made hot discussions in PF [57]

Are you around any educated people at all?

0_0
Ah ..are we wanting to get personal? :/ How about YOU?

define educated..how many of your family/friends teach...? how many hold BA? or Doctorates? How many are engineers? researchers? Designers? Physicians? How many of your friends? how many countries you been to? lived in? States?

Though I guess my asking if you are anti polish could be considered snarky... but really you mentioned no other "offenders" and are defending the position that incorrect information being released by media is okay. That no one can possible misunderstand it because a small section of people you know as basis, is reason enough to let it satnd.

And you repeat about how your educated "friends have no idea how antisemetic Poles still are ( you still seem to want to accuse Poles in particular instead of using word "people"). So it can make one wonder if you don't like Polish in a general way, no? How anti jew were/are ...hungarians? lithuanians?Chinese? native American nations? can you recall without google, or ever knew?

I dont know if you are obtuse or being snarky: THE POINT- the average Joe DOES NOT know better

I also made posts that refuted the way you presented the topics of antsemitism and the tragedy of 1941 as uniquely bad Polish, as if the whole nation and it's Government was behind such views and the historical atrocity. That was simply unfair and untrue.

Regardless of your small personal enviroment... or my current small enviroment in Podunk NC ; the middle of average Joe would not know better.
MY other Point is: It is the habit that you (and others) say the average Joe..the majority knows this or that; like you had some article or statistic or personal experience of being around large section of population,

You now clarify ...um well My circle of educated friends. Well if that is case..what would you or they know of an average Joe anyway? And you threw out all those very incomplete and biased pieces of history to ? (my turn to seem obtuse) support it being okay to infer that Poland ran death camps?

Yes, presently I am around people that didn't go far. I moved from Florida only a couple months ago. I normally live in Arizona, if not needs of employer. But also educated people are around me often even here in Podunk because the non-local specialty instructors for my autistic child.

maybe somewhere I was less clear..? I prolly just the late hour...sorry. I have ocasionally been accused of making redundantly long communications. Plus I may have added uneeded information to show why I cared enough to even know a smidgeon of Polish history when my EU family history was mostly in Prague and Budejovice. Or to refute/debate a statement.

My ENVIROMENT- "educated people at all?" I have also lived abroad via my dad &Uncle Sam. I had tutors a lot while traveling. My dad and I sailed to S.A, then crossed the Atlantic and spent a year+ exploring interests and re-contacting family(Um look up Judson School and WHY I am not convinced an AVERAGE American education is going to produce a savy customer . For that matter ANY ROOKER in the state of Texas teaching at UT or A&M or any PREWITT. Or Wiez teaching in Sao Paulo area. FYI My normal enviroment is around a HIGHLY educated family that I am one of the few that doesn't hold a doctorate or teach in Math, Engineering, Physics, Marine Biology etc. tho Uncle Sonny was Intermural Coach). My "experience" is that I have met ALL sorts from ALL over. So can safely say have a better than usual idea who average Joe is and what he knows.

all this WW2 posting should prolly go to its own thread.... since OP point was that the President of a sovereign nation stated in public media a negative incorrect phrase -gramatically at best or biased historically at worst- about an allied nation...and issued no apology. Nor was it the first time he stumbled on slighting that same nation.("What about Poland?").

News / Highlights of passing year, in Poland (or elsewhere) which made hot discussions in PF [57]

I couldnt help but say something.. this is not first time I see that the "average man on the street ..most often the phrase Average Joe and referring to US resident supposedly knows better than to not question the media or sources of a public figure.

Again, your average Joe does not think that Poles were exterminating Jews

"Survey says?"** BZZZzzzzrt!**
um Yes..the AVERAGE American would so think the worst! the structure of the grammar would make Polish a possessive noun and therefore implicate that the Polish/or Poland were running the mentioned death camps

but if he really starts doing some research

BZZZT!
the average American would research...would question what a news source quoted?
0_0
I must live in an alternate dimension U.S. last 40 years then. I have lived East -West -North- and South when in country. I am mostly of Bohemian(now Czech) ancestry born in Texas btw.

In Dallas? maybe a look at internet...because it has high Jewish population and the curiosity combined with better education. However, average American doesn't give Poland a first though.. bad or good. Most Americans barely know where Poland even is... "Thats Eastern Block like Russia right?" In El Paso... "those dirty pollacks were killing those poor kikes in the war...who knew?"

Or in the South? "It is near France where Pollaks and Sausage comes from, right?"
Despite my private education mostly at perrochial school, I would have known even less than my little, but I liked teutonic history and fell in love with the winged hussars, plus my father was very positive in his admiration for his fellow pilots from Poland during the war.

Maybe in Your America the average Joe is a scion of informed worldliness and even knows in advance who they are voting into their local municipalities and circuit courts. Heh!

My America as far as Cali in Orange, LA, SanBernadino and Sonoma, WA, TX, AZ, OK, VA, KY, TN, NC, SC, FL, IL and AL?

LOLOLOL in MY America? the editor of a SC paper in a college town asked me what I "wonted" and said they want do it...and repeated these and other phonetic spelling all through the official communication.

In my America..my normally democratic grandma voted Ronald Reagan because he was such a handsome actor. Most my friends voted for Clinton because he promised no taxes. Not one even knew he was ever a governor! Including alumni from Judson School!

LOL... the AVERAGE american knows better... the average american in the 40s supported NOT getting involved in WW2. AT ALL. Yet never questioned the sudden involvement in the war being so well timed. Our Seated President at the time, trolled the public and used a controversial grey areas to present a "sneak attack with no warning to stir up the populace up. that is all researchable history as well..and you still hear of the sneaky Japs. LOL. Because it was entrenched incorrect by the media for years.

True the Japanese tried to use a grey area by late declaration, that got later because of translation. The Japanese ambassador was instructed to deliver his message just before the planned attack,

BUT our US cryptographers had the message copied and decoded even before the embassy could do so. DOH! The President took a CALCULATED risk expecting collateral damage to garner the support he wanted.

Ambasador of Japan indeed was a few hours late in delivering the proper message.
The only real difference was the spin. The leaders of both countries knew full well they planned war that winter, and the specifics were all that was lacking.

As an example, a couple of weeks before that, General Marshall had given a secret briefing (Of course record releases later gave the full story) to select members of the Washington press corps in which he told them that the US strategy in the upcoming war would be to bomb/burn the major Japanese cities to the ground

POINT? LAWLZ at "Average American KNOWS better" I served my country with pride most of my years in service..but I am not gonna say we are something we are not. The average Joe of any country only cares about employment, price of food and retirement..all other concerns are nominal unless interfereing with said pursuits.

Are you like anti polish or something?

he might find something about antisemitizm in Poland before the war, maybe run into something about Jedwabne, or how about many pious, church going Poles that think Jews killed their Jesus.. be careful what you wish for.

This has WHAT to do with the high percentage of average people who would belive media spin? Are you saying its okay to let an incorrect fact stand publically because a few average Joes in Poland had opinions that were bigoted?

Antisemitizm was common in MANY places before the War. INCLUDING the US. ESPECIALLLY the SOUTH (and lts say that ALL Southerners not only hated Jews but are secret KKK members. And profited by slavery. That was once widely believed and even stated in media).

Disgruntled citizenry is not the same as government actions or policies, How many countries turned Jews away from their Borders..sometimes aggressively back to Germany before the brith of the final solution? And even after the rumors.

And our population AND our government's treatment of AMERICANS of Japanese descent certainly doesnt give us the right to call a kettle black! And it is not the only time we were guilty as a nation of such a terrible thing. We try to be the good guys but we can't wipe the few black marks off by sinply saying the other guy was worse.

and all traditional Christians and also Muslims acknowledge that the Jews of the time were directly instrumental in the death of Christ... not just Poles or Catholics.. so not sure where that is going?

maybe run into something about Jedwabne

MAYBE YOU should have researched it before throwing it out there...the horrible masacre of half the 700+ population of Jews in that town that no longer exits...followed some real feeling of hostility towards Jews. There is never any excuse for savagery, but the catalyst was there.

Trying to say its okay to say that Poles ran death camps by using a small town's shame as example? is misleading and cheap shot.

Like the part where the town primarily was ETHNICALLY Polish Germans with a few Germans left over form first occupation and with Soviet occupying for nearly 3 years after Germans totally crushed the local resistance and tehn handed the reins to Stalin. As well as Polish peasants and Polish Jews.

Jews WELCOMED and assisted the Russians rather than have Nazis. They openly helped rounding up and dismantling the local government. 20k+ ethnically Polish families..men women and children were deported from the region.. . many of the openly jewish Polish defectors were in admisitrative positions overseeing these times. Many of the militiamen in the roundups were openly former jewish citizens. That story has NO clean hands so should not be held up as anything but tragic.

Life / Is it me or do people "seem" to live longer in Poland? Life expectancy among Poles. [52]

Waaaah ! Quit saying polish men die in 50s!!! I'll have to figure how to extend my man's life!

And my Great & Grandparents that died natural, lived to around 98-100, My mums generation was hard hit with accidents.

As for me? I am North American from EU (N/E EU at that) roots not too far up in most branches. I can run to plump side but I have a diet that makes my physician whine. (tho lately I have been stricter in portion control to be example because my youngest is getting quite portly recently). I look pretty snappy for my age, but I think my family is mutants so may not count in the average statistics (not only do most of us live well past 80-even the drinkers.. but one side that I have taken from, women don't even hit menopause til well past 60)

IMO : the generations of my dad that looked old , often lived a stressed life of hard work & toil and war/oppression..and the ones my age and younger are the sterotypical "spent youth"s. drinking, drugs, smoking , tanning and hedonist diet just took their youth

Food / How natural is food in Poland? [25]

wonder if factory-made Polish food nowadays is any less chemicalised than what is sold in the West

Hmmm..I think key term is "factory made".

With so many special diets and food allergies in the house; I try to keep my packaged items minimal..though I do get microwave popcorn because I am so fail at popping natural ...

All that mention of pickled.. cabbage... and fish made me hungry. I don't mind exciting counterpoit now and then but I mostly prepare meals that are fresh, simple, hearty, quick to prepare & plain enough for any family member to eat.

I have to really search to find proper cured foods that use salts and not nitrate/nitrites. only thing I like more than pickles is sausages.

When (if..plan is 'when') my love decides to return us to Poland later; he will have to arrange a gym membership for me or shall become a cow! real chocolates available easier and all the sausages of Poland and Germany, ..*faints* and Pickles..pickled cabbage, cucumber, fish! (I make my own pirohy now)

Love / Aliments and abortion (I was married to a Polish guy) [64]

By account, it is not like she was originally an illegal and for that reason got knocked up to have a citizen child on the benefit system ( not to be facetious..wouldn't UK be better in that case? )

We can color her story by our own experiences or those of someone close.. but even as some of you paint her as somehow getting this guy's love in order to have an 'anchor' baby... the other side is the type of guy who is a user and cad

ie. like my father in law was(and to some extent his son). He married a younger wife saying we'll have kids later..meanwhile expecting her to raise his two children

When she got pregnant 2 years later when a sudden trip had her unable to fill prescription. He beat her constantly when he found out (so says his sisters, friends as well as MIL). Then he wanted abortion because physician worried one of her "falls" may have done damage. And then was angry because coerced sex got her pregnant again before she was eligible for birth control again. He threw her out of house and divorced her the week the youngest was in daycare. Used her 'homelesness' as his tool for custody.

My own X was angry when my 13th pregnancy (I miscarried often..mostly for physical duress) arrived ; his mother whisked me away on a "vacation", gave him the bird (she remarried wealth and her kids who sadly hated her, licked her arse to get their shares) and I enjoyed a mostly problem free pregnancy.

My youngest child was concieved past three forms of birth control(was on set 3 of Depo shots. technically I am not supposed to even use hormones because my blood disorder. I liked and wanted kids so sterilization was not MY option. I did every other thing in my power to avoid it).

My middle child was after my x-spouse had first vasectomy (yes genetically his and I was on Ortho 777). He also was one who said I did it on purpose. 0_0

my point of sharing this personal information is that truth is stranger than fiction... never say never.... for every stereotype story there is the ones that did not follow any norms. And that benefit of the doubt should exercised rather than indirect attacks on the girl's motives and honor. Dude was an atty... and a XXX(edit: oh he never even married teh GF with kids. Not a divorce.oops) ; you think if she had been simply after citizenship he couldn't sniff that out before legalizing her position with him?

OP says her man said to effect "we can have kids in about 5 years". From my bias, different from those expressed previous; I suspect this was a trick to get her best years...what he really meant was NEVER. Oh gee-Lucky him, he ALREADY has children so doesn't need more or care. It would behoove him to marry a hard worker -sans children- since all their joint resources (tho he seems to make plenty) would be going to support his former family (nice..not!) still giving him a bed warmer, cook, maid and errand runner with attractive looks to rub in Ex's face. And someone dependent on him as far as communication and transport local.

I can understand about not wanting to "return home", specially if not been there for some time. I am currently in location where I spent teen years to tie up some business. And I despise it as much here in podunk now, as I did as teen. Define "go back home". Being born somewhere does not make it necessarily "home".

If you are not 'returning' to open loving arms and understanding from a parent or generous sibling..why buy further stress? Why go back? None can abuse your inner soul harsher than blood kin. Is old home a better place for a mixed child? Or new home?

Plus leaving before divorce/mediation/separation makes her "abandoning him" giving him more rights to do wrong by her. While she is trying to establish a stable presence "back home" she will be a no_show for court since she is not likely to get due process while "unaddressable". She could lose alimony, support..even custody itself! How awful to have him come with an int'l warrant to take her new born baby after struggling alone in pregnancy? Not even knowing he had won such a decree (My X tried this but FAILED and I beat his sleazy arse with no lawyer in court...but it was not easy and I had NO savings years after. I can't imagine how waiting on Visas would have effected my outcome).

Call me a paranoid. but being on my toes has me ready to fight every non jurisdictional hearing that crops up every 2 years. Maybe her guy is not that low...maybe he is lower. The fact he used threats to coerce an abortion she clearly does not want..says plenty about his character already. I am sure he already is aware if she comes from a culture that believes in or personaly believes in abortion as an option for removing inconvenience.

But to say he MUST have a reason? What?! that kinda thinking is why DV still is so strong and so shameful to admit suffering under... he can "freak out " from being a control freak, a manipulator and having never had any intention of having children with OP.

ie. my X lost his higher security clearance because he was caught breaking Order of Protection by Post Office security camera. Just because he was not allowed at house without supervisor. I always bowed down to him and did what he said with utter fear for a decade. His "losing" and my daring to (his words) 'DEFY him', made him an ugly person who constantly put his job at risk. I usually live in location that is more than 1500 miles away from him.

...I didn't kiss a pile of frogs to find my polish Prince... I was shackled to a starved Saltwater Crocodile.. and I have the bite scars to prove it.

Love / I'm getting married to a Polish guy and need advice before visit his family; gifts, topics, customs [82]

I'm red haired ,but dusky with hazel to black eyes... not from my Portuguese (ethnically a Boheminan basque /castal) who are mostly grey eyed blondes or Ubertall, redhaired green eyed Scotts; but from my Boheme Weis and my 1/8 Cherokee. My Solvak friend was also very dusky, duskier than I.

My Wadusili is quite enamored with me... but is very intrigued with my curves and my appearance. ^_^ his entire family are golden toned, pale , honey blondes with blue eyes.

I am also learning basic speaking Polish at present. I like it better than my own second language of Boheme. Plus I surprised him and still do. I think dude needs to take some purple happy vitamins.

You make a cute couple! Congratz on your plans!

News / More Poles speak English than French or Spanish! [34]

yeh but inwroclaw don't forget that many of those people esp the younger ones might have spent at least a year or two in the UK

Don't forget the ubiquitous influence of games ^_^. Scoff though one might...

Most of my friends in MMOs speak passable accented to very good english in Ventrillo, Skype, and Other Voip supported programs. And many are from Russia, Hungaria, some Polish, and the region. And they are usually undetectable in chat communication (since who uses proper syntex or grammar in Forums on the average?)

And many are self-taught and ended up preferrring to be on North American/UK servers (more populous and more avaialable servers with quicker repair) despite the inevitable lag. Over the past two years my Hungarian friend's spoken has caught up with his written just chattering in Vent once he felt brave enough to join in verbally. Though the median age of the communicators is between 14-25 we have a few junior members in our PvP league and the RP players has a handful of English speakers in 40s (Polish and Czech mostly, 1 Russsian and one Slovak)

Heck..My fiancee sounds more american than I do in thinking, memes, opinions... and speaking on many days ^_^. Specially when he is fresh before late hours start making him fuzzy.

Heh ..Nerds unite!?

Travel / Going to Poland and looking for some antiques [24]

double standard, no?

I'm sorry , I had to pipe in; your entire view on this subject makes you sound quite unsavory for first time since I started hanging here!

My question..how many countries even HAVE this type of law that happen to have these legions of native Polish, using their mighty buying power of their current coinage to illegally obtain fine antiques? What double standard?

Are you taking specifically of import /export law? Or the raping of national treasures (regardless of tatty post war condition) to make ..PROFIT. Using western economic strength to make a predatory market because inability to pay fair market price? Or straight up raping of antiquities?

My maternal grandfather was Import /Export dealer in rare items and coins.Every true foreign antique we have left from him has paperwork trail.

Very FEW countries even have such a law..usually ones that have been rolled over and sacked constantly so have so very little of their precious past. Obtaining anything illegallly is WRONG. Especially to float a business. Ethically , morally and of course by law.

So point out the NATIVE polish ring of antique thieves that operate in countries desparate to hold to treasures like Iran, Afghnastan, Egypt. The Syrian war is directly connected to illegal antiquities trade. And there was a reason for agreements like the flawed old GATT as well as it's replacement VER. To protect countries newly opened into Int'l market from predation from richer countries is just ONE. A sovereign nation has the RIGHT o make whatever law they like in their borders. If you break it in their borders you area criminal. No matter how large or small the offense. I doubt any WTO data shows Poland as some major offender in antiquities theft. But I will look into it in normal hours (am up to take allergy med)

If one is worried about police or customs, then one is intending to obtain things they should not have. I have a personal disgust against the type of people who look for illegal baragins of heritage pieces. Plenty of interesting stuff to buy the right way. And if real? it should never be let go 'cheap". I have no qualm against obtaining an older, well made piece of furnishing or art/jewelery type of antique. Even older pieces, if obtained legal with proper tariffs..regardless of "fairness" .

Looking for bargians in illegal antiquities is neither cute, amusing or even clever. It is all just wrong.
And fuels events like happened to my family personally.
A business acquaintance of my grandfatehr hired thugs to rob my father's house to get Stewart linked possessions he heard about in passing casual conversation and THIS: And other antiques, but THESE were personal heirlooms that would have become nameless "finds" had they slipped past the (?French..I think it was? this was 70s) border after the reports. It was luck and a sniffy official and a squealing hireling. He was caught selling these items on the sly market. And damn straight we PROSECUTED!

UK, Ireland / Domestic arguments caused by differences between Polish and English culture [109]

What a funny subject.

My family has always used more holes for salt... grandparents and down. 2 grandparent sets used grinders for pepper and it is less obvious.

All my containers in house presently-especially disposable picnic sets..have 4 or less holes for pepper and 5-8 for salt; with exclusion of sea salt in grinder and Grandma Weis's pepper grinder. (US. One set is Morton's =other local store brand Winn Dixie).

No, they don't "rinse" the dishes - they wash them in running water

I thought I did that because of my OCD wish to ensure no debris of ANY kind is left on dishes. I scrub with soapy scrubber and rinse in hot side only running water to rinse throroghly to squeaking before putting to dry and on shelf. My mom didn't but her mom and my dad did.

Edit..BTW: none of them are polish ..
and I say either Badmington or badmitton

News / Human Trafficking in and from Poland [80]

An independent organisation should be set up and separated from the courts so the psychologists are not in the direct pay of the judges or "friends" of the judges. This really is a joke.Judges, and welfare agents acting on behalf of the courts should be made responsible for their actions.

Because the 'indirect " influence of money, popular atty or local renown in the US is sooo much better?

Guardian ad litums are normally close with, work with and are often from same offices previous as the winning atty side. I have fought six... SIX non jurisdictional cases.. all within the states.. (by the way when dismissed? are unable to be followed up with oh...prosecution for perjury? restitution? damages? reimbursment?... and that money and time is taken from my 7 yr old child. Oh yeah... needs of children first, riiiight) and it is expected that whole other countries will give respect to each other better than that? Wotevah

I do agree that judges and welfare agents in family court should be made accountable. but this thread isn't technically about family court..it is about the abduction, coercion and subjecation of people into salvery or sex bondage. And Poland ISa tier 1 country, as mentioned earlier.

Love / How real is your international (Polish-other) relationship ? [53]

Define real... ^_^
seems surreal at times.

We are aligned near perfect and complimentary in the gaps. We were friends as close as skin and now betrothed. We plan carefully.
He is the Polish.I am the "other". A mix of Bohemian, Portuguese, Cherokee and Scottish. English was my third language before age 5.(I think English is his 4th?)

I like his pragmatic, practical direct ways, it suits my Asperger's very nicely. Yet conversely; even though abrupt with familiarity, he is poster boy of good manners. Always: Would you mind? Will this be alright? He asks 'permission' to sleep when in middle of migraine ^_^.

Yet under all his cynical pessimism is a firey romantic. I certainly enjoy being "beloved" "sweetest""cherished" and occasionally "my queen" "my lady" and "kochanie".

We have a couple of minor misunderstandings but they even out quickly since we are both pushy, were trolly buds too long to stand on "girl/boy rules. One of us will grill the other person to spit out what is wrong. Argh! Can barely stand the time and distance while he finishes his degree before coming to live in US.

And lovely dinnerware.

Life / Abrupt Poles explained ! [51]

she is constantly telling me how soft the language is.

English was my third/fourth language... the most spoken were Bohemian Czech and Portuguese. Also Basque, German, Castal, Cherokee and smatterings of celtic. as reflected where we started and where we'd been. My full Russian in -laws spoke, dominican sp. , 3 dialects of chinese, thai, french and german. And english of course.

I fell in love with spoken Polish for thinking it "softer" than Russian, Czech(with exceptions of certain words), German, Cherokee. even Basque my ears still remember. I like it better than french. The person I exchange language with is quite personable and polite.

When I saw this post I was curious but really couldn't see it..and "rudeness" only direct answering and pragmatic logic.

And my dearest is ever so polite in speaking in English. Genteel. He was abrupt at times.. like when leaving call. Not so much now that we are involved.

Makes me feel like m'lady is gonna get tacked on any second. and he is nothing but kind and helpful to his two younger sisters that barge in his room on any given. Even when annoyed he doesn't raise voice or say very rude things (that I can tell).

Inflections sound like a raised voice sometimes but the content points it as tonal.

Life / Prevalence of Autism/Asperger's in Poland? [6]

fairie folks getting hold and causing the changes or being a complete changling

Got it in 2. Though my spelling was incorrect.
Changling stories are in my family bugaboos.

And here I had a child that was reading simple books (dick and jane style) , bilingual, named his own pets and got up early one morning to do dishes to a child wild eyes and spinning and incapable of speech or understanding instruction in less than 7 days after 24 hr fever and trip to ER.

Here is a site with some good info

ah here is the info. Though he had no personal knowledge of anyone close, so was unsure. But my Lech was worried that my son may not get need therapies and accomodation in school while it counted, if I come east to him. Especially after he read up on the condition later.

Language / Need Advice On Polish-English language barrier (my Polish boyfriend and his family) [59]

I wonder if it just these guys are missing some consideration or is it my guy is unusually indulgent for a native.

Back to BF support.....
Though he never suggested about teaching me, when he found out I'm learning he is now amused, flattered and supportive. He said Polish can be a difficult and "tongue breaking" language for some. I can say some things quite well now. I am not ready to practice with him yet since I really want our time while separate devoted to something other like lessons. And I'm afraid he will let me get away with more mistakes. ^_^

But I'd be very hurt and somewhat uneasy if he discouraged my learning AND put me in situations where it was all that was spoken around me : (

I am also not under pressure to learn, which may make me able to feel better practicing. I WANT to learn, just for me. Even if he ditched me tomorrow-it is still a present to myself

My biggest obstacle is sounds I cannot even make proper in English. Types of G H and S. Though it is all I speak now, English was not my first language, heh not even my second.

A small advocating for the devil: Not everyone can teach or will attempt. My mom could not teach me to drive a stick or ride a motocycle ...she simply did not have the patience despite keenly wanting me to do so. Nor could my former spouse. But when I learned, my teacher taught me within a week.

Life / Prevalence of Autism/Asperger's in Poland? [6]

p3undone :Rysavy,I have a nephew who has Asbergers

In another thread this reminded me...

What is frequency reported of children with Autism or Asperger's in Poland?

What is usually done and how long is it before diagnosis?

What programs are available? if any...

Also is indirect relation; What are vaccine schedules like?

I have Asperger's as many in my maternal family do (im only one that was slacker and didnt become an engineer of some sort). A manageable condition.

My youngest was diagnosed with Autism at age 3 after migraine and a fever spike allowed the fey to take him. He is worlds apart in his symptoms compared to what I am accustomed to regarding Aspies.

Anyway.. one major point in my not yet thinking of going to Poland and bringing my affianced here instead ; is running the gamut of programs with my son until he has reached an age past most strong rehab ability. As well as a good five years working here can save a nice tidy sum. So now I wonder

What are Polish Winters like.. I like crisp, dry, snowy winters as oposed to drizzley damp greay ones

Food / Polish roast pigeon anyone? [17]

But there is this Polish saying: "pieczone gołąbki nie lecą same do gąbki" (roasted pigeons do not fly into your mouth by themselves), which means "nothing in life comes easy, with no action". Evidently roasted pigeons used to be known as a delicious dish - considering that they have been elevated to the proverb level.

. ^
Heh.. Exactly... || ^_^

I am kinda funny about food that is tidbits. Only exception is well cooked fish that is eaten whole (liek kippers).
I've eaten and enjoyed many foods not in mainstream; but making a favorite of it? It isn't the taste so much.
It's too much work to eat or worse I have to handle it..... specially since I developed bad habit of near eating whole my food like a winter wolf (I know my father spins in his grave every time I have supper).

I do not eat buffalo wings often or short ribs for same reasons. I enjoy hunting small game for the challenge but not frequent since I don't "sport" hunt. If its is not going on my plate, I am not hunting it.

Food / Polish roast pigeon anyone? [17]

No Squab for me... it is in the; not good for anything but pie; category of small game. And may not be safe to eat if city bird.

If I was starving ..eh. in the pie or soup they go.
