History / Do Poles really blame Britain for Poland becoming Communist after the war? [104]

+1,260,000

Your idiocy is so appalling that I can`t believe that it can exist : READ my post nb 93 - remaining troops were in underground army and partisan army and also intelligence ..

I am not going to spoil my weekend with your trollish posts . So go ahead and search for yourself for more information about these two formations.

Here is a link to polish war underground :

you can google translate this websites

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armia_Krajowa
pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polskie_Pa%C5%84stwo_Podziemne

The most spectacular achievement of the intelligence was working out the research center and factory in Penenmünde, which built the rocket V 1 and V 2 The first information obtained in autumn 1942 and in March 1943 was sent to London a detailed report. This allowed the British to conduct a massive bomb attack (17/18 August 1943), which for many months stopped plans to build Wunderwaffe.

According to the latest findings of the Polish-British Historical Commission for Documenting Activities of Polish Intelligence during World War II, the information provided by Polish intelligence accounted for 45% of all allied materials. The documents the committee, it also follows that in the Polish intelligence worked at least 20 000 agents.

Just in 1944, Polish intelligence provided for the British nearly 38,000 reports over 12,000 for Americans and nearly a thousand for Frenchmen. From this, according to the British ratings, 85% is about a very high or high quality, another 12% had information valuable, 2% less valuable, and only 1% of the information was considered worthless. It turns out that the Polish intelligence was one of the best and most effective in the war, and perhaps even the best.

Look how huge was the structure of polish underground and it was divided by :rightist formations like AK , ZWZ , NSZ and also leftist formations like BCH

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polski_ruch_oporu_w_czasie_II_wojny_%C5%9Bwiatowej

The armed forces of the Polish resistance movement in 1944 numbered more than 500 thousand. people, including nearly 150 thousand. fought in partisan units. Was carried out about 10 thousand. military actions, which killed over 150 thousand. German soldiers, police, Gestapo agents and officials. Momentum has been made possible by the massive participation and support of the resistance by Polish society, which, moreover, led the fight against the civilian with the Nazis.

The book "MI6: The History of the Secret Intelligence Service", whose author is a professor. Keith Jeffery of Queen's University Belfast, cites the opinion of Wilfred Dunderdale'a, liaison officer between the SIS (Secret Intelligence Service - MI6 another name) and the history of the Polish General Staff in London (the two), from June 1943. In a memo to his superiors the author points out that the Polish intelligence had at that time 30 networks in occupied and neutral countries in Europe,

Large service SIS also gave Mieczyslaw Slowikowski, who created one of the most effective intelligence networks - "Agency Africa." Her reports served the Americans and British to plan the operation of the marine Torch landings in November 1942 in North Africa. Słowikowski served as a prototype of the hero's famous film "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

Now get away , you troll.

It is just a structure of Polish Underground State :

History / Do Poles really blame Britain for Poland becoming Communist after the war? [104]

When the war in Europe was coming to an end, the Polish troops fighting at the side of the Western Allies numbered more than 210 thousand soldiers

Read the main page with understanding , you are giving just a number of troops engaged in certain campaign called land battles 1941-1945 and also it is the number at the end of the war of those soldiers who survived , altrough you don`t comprehend properly , but let me tell you something , maybe you should consider the fact that tens of thousands of Polish soldiers died during campaigns throughout 6 years of war . The cited by you line states the time of the end of the war . During the war Polish regular army troops losses were estimated as 160 000 .

2 millions of Polish soldiers comes form regular army troops engaged in western and eastern fronts , underground army forces , partisan troops . In the final stage of war the Polish troops on all the European fronts amounted to some 600 000 soldiers (infantry, armored troops, aircraft and navy) It says those who were alive and formed regular army !!!!!!

It doesn`t count underground army and partisan troops alive or dead !!!!!!!

Let`s summarise :regular army troops who participated in the IIWW were estimated as high as : alive 600 000 + dead 160 000= 760 000 .

PWEI , aka Harry , vel Davidson , attorney , whoever you are :

memorise that 2 millions of Polish troops were participating during WWII campaigns:

Poland was the only country to fight in the European theatre of war from the first to the last day of the greatest armed conflict in the history of mankind.

The war began with invading Poland: first, on September 1, 1939, by the Nazi Germany, soon after, on September 17, by the Soviet Union. Both invaders acted in concert, upon the Ribbentrop - Molotov Treaty (concluded on August 23). The allies of Poland - Great Britain and France - declared war upon Germany on September 3rd, but did not undertake any efficient military actions (the so-called "Phony War"). The Soviet Union joined the anti-Nazi alliance only in the summer of 1941, when invaded by Germany. The United States, although they gave a lot of significant material aid, joined the military actions in December 1941 when assaulted by Japan and when Germany declared war upon them.

The most important features of the Polish contribution to the defeat of Germany are determination and perseverance. Despite the severe defeat in 1939, the Poles formed five more armies, including four in exile: in France in 1939, in the United Kingdom in the summer of 1940 (after the defeat and capitulation of France), and twice in the USSR in 1941. These were the army of Gen. Anders that fought later in the South of Europe, and the one that emerged in 1943 and later fought at the Red Army's side.

The fifth Polish army, created at the end of September of 1939 was the conspiratorial armed force in the occupied territory. For the entire period of the war there also existed the very important "silent front" - the intelligence.

Probably up to 2 millions Poles served since September 1st, 1939 to May 8th, 1945 in all the Polish military formations - regular armies, partisan troops and underground forces.

In the final stage of war the Polish troops on all the European fronts amounted to some 600 000 soldiers (infantry, armored troops, aircraft and navy).

In the summer of 1944, while commencing regular military struggle against the retreating Germans, the armed underground numbered more than 300 thousands sworn soldiers.

It can be concluded that Poland put in the field the fourth greatest Allied army.

Buy some books about the subject ! then you may say something .

History / Do Poles really blame Britain for Poland becoming Communist after the war? [104]

They blame themselves for being over-run because they did not prepare.

What a contributing comment of a person whose knowledge about Poland`s II ww participation is null .

Poland started miltary preparations when the NSDAP came to power and Hitler became powerful . It was obvious that the first country to conquer will be Poland, after just reading few chapters of Mein Kampf . But even if Poland had put as much money as Germany for preparations it would have failed only by the one fact that Germany was twice as much populated as Poland .Not to mention that it was the strongest country in Europe military and economically .

Let me give you a link to read about Polish - British relations in a very shortened form .

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_migration_to_the_United_Kingdom

During the debate, 25 MPs risked their careers to draft an amendment protesting against the UK's tacit acceptance of Poland's domination by the Soviet Union. These members included: Arthur Greenwood; Sir Archibald Southby, 1st Baronet; Sir Alec Douglas-Home; Commander Sir Archibald Southby, 1st Baronet; James Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 3rd Earl of Ancaster and Victor Raikes.[8] After the failure of the amendment, Henry Strauss, 1st Baron Conesford, the Member of Parliament for Norwich, resigned his seat in protest at the British treatment of Poland.[8]

British society , the king and Churchill himself knew very well that UK owed so much to the Polse and thats why - The Polish Resettlement Act was issued .

Poles formed the fourth-largest armed force after the Soviets, the Americans and the combined troops of British Empire. Poles were the largest group of non-British personnel in the RAF during the Battle of Britain, and the 303 Polish Squadron was the highest-scoring RAF unit in Battle of Britain.

Special Operations Executive had a large section of covert, elite Polish troops and close cooperation with the Polish resistance. The Polish Army under British high command were instrumental at the Battle of Monte Cassino, the Battle of the Falaise Gap, the Battle of Arnhem, the Siege of Tobruk and the liberation of many European cities including Bologna and Breda.

Real Estate / Who designs houses in Poland? [66]

Konior and Konieczny are already world renowned architects and their projects were appreciated by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design . So I am glad that Polish architects are awarded every year by this body where jury consist of architects but not few members of PF , for my great relief .

You will never find out, if you don`t even bother to check the links I gave .

BTW The visionary house of Konieczny was named as the safest house in the world . The main idea was to build the house that is safe from even radiation . So, the project was focused on delivering and fulfilling this obejectives rather than the creating more interesting structure , that`s why, the form of this project is very simple . People who are architects appreciated this project very highly in contrary to some posters who claim to be connoisseurs,, but seem rather amateur .

They are all very beautiful, visionary and versatile

Your last post proves how moronic your opinions are . If you want to post something informative you better learn the language . All the buildings look the same ,yeeeeees and they should , because it is a link of a door maker not an architect, Einstein . Instead of complaining better devote your time to other subject as you have no knowledge about Polish architects and architecture whatsoever .

History / Why have Poles contributed so little to Academics? (Particularly Science) [180]

Personally, I was trying to keep my contribution to this thread at reasonably low profile - mostly responding to direct attacks from trolls, or expanding on some cases. But unfortunately this cannot be handled this way, because everybody has their own tactics: ranging from complete disregard of trolls, to apologizing, to giving trivial examples.

Boletus, you are so contributing poster and I greately admire your knowledge and appreciate a lot very interesting information given by you on this thread and generally on PF . I am sure that most of the posters have the same opinion . Those trivial examples or quoting Mikołaj Kopernik or Maria Sklodowska as only examples are the most pathetic and prove that they have no knowledge about the subject . Keep posting I read your very informative posts with great pleasure . Thank you ,sir.

Ps

Don`t argue with trolls , don`t feed the trolls .

Study / The worst of Polish education. No wonder Polish universities are bottom of the list. [142]

the cream is collected by Faculties of Philosophy, History, Literary theory, Psychology, Political sciences, sociology, Electro - engineering, Molecular biology, Mathematics,.

These are faculties iyou can get in without any exams in Poland , because nobody wants to study and get a diploma from such faculties . Belgrade is very strange , because anywhere in the world medicine and law are the most coveted faculties .

magpie Don`t worry , it is The Times list . Have you ever spotted something positive in English press about Poland at all ?

Those who regard only level of education and disregard other matters will not be disappointed here . It all depends on what kind of people you will encounter on your way at the university . I could recommend Olsztyn which is very modern and the staff is very friendly without buffoon types .

It is not about architects but the investors . Polish architects are well trained and are visionary .

But if an investor wants to direct a work of a profesional then we have a work of an amateur and the outcome can be rather kitschy .

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_Our_Lady_of_Liche%C5%84

As opposite to this

youtu.be/LcfqPmy83os

I deliberately have chosen examples of sacral architecture to show that it can be both visionary and modern .
