Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

Do some women search to assure themselves while feeling inadequate and failing to do it anywhere else, make their "success" especially pronounced at home?

You mean, why are they bugging their husbands to help out with the kids and housework?

I honestly have no idea what are you fighting for on this thread.

Love / How to survive a relationship in Poland? [42]

Distance works for me.

Yes, distance is the key. A marriage is between two people so the focus of the relationship should be on just the two people, and the rest should be more distant background. I swear, whenever I have to deal for a longer time with my in-laws, especially his mother I'm seriously considering a divorce, that's how badly things get out of focus.

I'm sorry about the way you feel and I hope for a better state of things in your relationship soon. Did you try to talk to your partner and explain, how you feel? Maybe that could help?

Life / Drinking before clubbing in Poland? [25]

Coming from a female, I guess thats the deciding vote.

You don't know them very well. They might become mistrustful when they see that you are trying to get them drunk. If you want to save on booze, go to a bar first, tell them you want to talk before it's too laud (start them on beer), and then go to the club (and stick to beer).

I personally wouldn't feel confident with a bunch of guys who I barely know who start off with strong liquor.

USA, Canada / Polish-American groups in Southern California [26]

but there is no bad weather, only bad clothes, and weather is a state of mind.

Not for me. Weather is a state of the sky and thermometer. Whenever winter rolls around I start planning a move to the West Coast. By the time I have some ideas, the spring comes back and I'm fine where I am, thinking I would miss the Indian summer ;)

Love / Polish men are their own special breed ... [96]

I can't expect you to understand since you've never had the honor and privilege of being in my presence :)

So why are you so special? Do you have balls of gold or something? ;)

Love / Polish men are their own special breed ... [96]

That's it.
show interest but let the guy be active in the first stage of the relationship.

If they put more effort into getting you, they will not let you go so easily.

(I only vaguely remember that, gee, I've been married for too long)

Make the girl chase after you. That's what I mean by they'll respect you more.

Or they will move on. I've never in my life chased after a guy.

Married or dating but still go out and party on their own or with friends (without their girl). Women don't respect men who are too obedient and faithful.

You clearly don't know much about women. Or you are just hanging out with some young siksy, who have no idea what they want.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

One thing I know for sure is that Poles, at least those living in Canada, don't *do* ghettos.

Around here Polish ghettos are called Polakowos. They usually have sklep and Polish church. Housing is usually cheap and owned by Poles (who live outside of Polakowo) and affordable for low wage workers. Once the workers make enough in their judgement, they either move elsewhere, like regular suburb or go back to Poland. Polish ghetto is rather a station in the way rather than a status quo for a person.

rooshv

This guy is less than average looking. He brags and brags, and most likely the only type of women he can score with is the desperate type.

Travel / Traveling around Poland - our photo stories with very personal commentary [225]

I have been to Krakow but not Wroclaw or Berlin, if they are all the same you have just saved me a boring trip :p

Something is not adding up here. Berlin is nothing like Krakow. If I had to pick a nicer city it would be Krakow. I guess Wroclaw must be somewhere in between.

News / Poland warns against deporting its workers: hypocrisy? [35]

I had to play by them, why shouldnt eastern europeans?

I'm sure there are plenty of Eastern Europeans who play by the rules. Stressing the whole group creates unnecessary animosity towards those who play by the rules.

News / Poland warns against deporting its workers: hypocrisy? [35]

I'm in favor of all European countries kicking out everyone who is jobless and abuses their social system, but the Belgium speaker targeting just one group is a little off. If he said they will deport all unemployed foreigners and those who don't speak whatever language they are speaking there, that would be fine. But saying explicitly Poles and Eastern Europeans creates certain image about the whole group, and that's not ok.

UK, Ireland / Brits or Poles more eager to try new foods? [17]

I have to admit, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to organ meat. Tripe and liver is where I draw the line. But I will try any veggie, any fruit, any grain, and any cheese no matter how stinky it is.

News / EU presidency to cost Poland 110 million euro [33]

During the debate, Barry Madlener said the Netherlands 'does not want to pay for the upkeep of the Polish unemployed or Romanian beggars', according to Dutch media reports.

I'm wondering if the unemployed payed some unemployment insurance while they were working. If so, the Dutch are kind of obliged to provide them with some unemployment money. If not, he is right, Holland is under no obligation to pay for neither the beggars nor the unemployed.

History / Forgotten great Polish writers [4]

When I was 17 or 18 I read a set of his articles collected in the book "Reflektorem w mrok". He was way ahead of his times, and as I was reading the book I thought he was way ahead of early 90ties too. It was one of the books that influenced me for life.

News / Sex is patriotic: Poland's birth rate rises [34]

States/nations with Europeans generally become more powerful when their European populations increase.

That's what the European population likes to tell themselves.
