UK, Ireland / Job interview - recruitment process in the UK [26]

In England we would be more likely to say cash jobs or cash in hand. Just means you avoid paying tax and National Insurance.

Looks like its better not to do mistake saying in hand instead of after tax in the UK

And another point|question if you don't mind ;)

I'm a newcomer to London and it looks like eastern part of the city is a bedroom and western is a workshop.
and its better not to rent a room/flat in the East because you will hear from emploers sorry you live too far buddy ;)

Real Estate / Making an offer on a new flat in Poland [15]

Some 10 years ago people paid for newly built flats and it turned out that the flats were used as security for a developer who had gone bankrupt.

It was but it not is

Empty flats mean lower prices

no, developers in new buildings can control temperature via internet, cut heating costs and fight for months. If they have three blocks they sell flats in only one. Two are in "stanby" mode.

lol well I am sorry but 'feeling' that you could fit the cables is not really enough.

if I'm correct there is an independent profession in the UK Cable Fitter

UK, Ireland / Job interview - recruitment process in the UK [26]

I know it very clearly but I have to start somewhere. Someone has to trust me in the first job. Of course I'm not going to turn the power on or sign any paperwork for customers but I feel I can fit the cables.

UK, Ireland / Job interview - recruitment process in the UK [26]

Basically, just be honest and be confident but do not exaggerate

what does it mean exaggerate?

employers and agencies are very familiar with the sort of experience and qualifications to expect from Poles

Are they aware of that we Poles are people|handymen of many skills due of necessity avoid cost of car mechanic, plumber, carpenter? Or is it percived as lie?

I worked in PL as an Electrician for 7 years. Of course a don't have 17 edition. Do I have some experience? 10% 20% or 0%

To be honest some of their questions are very close to offend me. I'm almost 50 yo and have SOME experience for sure.

a few questions how recruitment process works in the UK

Do recruiters believe in what you are saying, declare, what you have in cv or they believe in nothing and you are from country where white bears live on the streets and you live in the yurta?

how references work? One of you best employees insolently escapes westward and you give him positive references?

if you worked 5 years on black as a bricklayer. Do you have experience or not?

Real Estate / Making an offer on a new flat in Poland [15]

You pay the developer during the build - he may run away with your money

Stupid move. His profit is 40% legally.

developer goes bankrupt or if the flats are put up as security for a loan and the bank comes after them.

Today they have to put deposit.

You buy a ready-made flat.

and you buy a land and who has land has flat.

co-op never go bankrupt. Mafia cannot bankrupt ;)

For example, are developers more or less likely to accept negotiations compared to private owners (on the secondary market).

I always thought developers or co-op do not accept any negotiations.

Travel / Driving between towns in Poland during winter [7]

How difficult is it to drive between major cities (Poznan, Wroclaw, Krakow, Warsaw)?

There is a huge traffic between major cities so snow have no chance to stick to the asphalt. If you don't exceed 80km\h you will be ok but it is boring. Keep the distance. Periodically try brakes gently for a black ice. Avoid driving beetwen lorries.

but am just concerned about road closures

Main road closures don't happen except when there is a serious accident.

Have powerbank with you to charge phone or navi and windscreen de-icer, high visilibity vest inside of cabin.
Beware of wild boars in the night.

They say its hard to learn. Hard to choose proper words in sentence. Hard to pronounce.

So where should I start?

Listen to the radio or watch yt. Learn by heart basic sentences.

Jestem Hagrida. Mam 15 lat. Mieszkam w Londynie. Mówię płynnie po angielsku. Chciałabym uczyć się polskiego. Od czego zacząć?

Real Estate / How to rent a bedroom in Poland? [9]

what is really the difference between pokoje and stancje

stancja - od fasioned name, you may expect sharing a house with students, landlord 50+
pokoj - rather professionals or mixed or not specified who, you may expect everyone

slight difference at all

I found many rooms for 130 euro or so

My new shiny flat in a lovely estate cost me 70 euro pcm. I can rent it for 350 euro pcm.
