Life / Are Poles winter lovers? [63]

Exploring this site and seeing the most ridiculous topics discussed.

...doesn't really help if you all of a sudden start reviving those moronic threads, that's been dead for months, years...

Life / Can many young Poles speak German? [72]

Can't take a joke, can you..? Anyways this day and age Germany is not Poland's enemy but her biggest trading partner... It's no longer London and Paris as cultural centers of Europe, it's Berlin, ubercool city with plethora of young artists and musicians from all over the world, vibrant and creative, only an hour's drive from Polish border.

Russia is far far away... looks kinda nice... from a distance...

Genealogy / Polish person's average height? [210]

Im finding some of the topics on here really scary

So true it is such a bizarre experience to log on PF, just a glance at the topics makes you wonder how fcuked-up Poles really are (which obviously is not an entirely fair observation, as the most of neo-nazi-commie slavic supremacist present here don't come from Poland), shame really, but this is entirely up to mods and admin what they want this forum to be... evidently they want it to be a gutter tabloid.. well so be it, tabloids do sell after all... it's just sad that this has to be asociated with Polish...

Love / Polish guys opinion about Romanian girls? [23]

What exposure of other cultures? Most Poles don't experience other culture in Poland and rarely travels

they do it more than ever before... besides over one million Poles in UK...

. Besides that experience of other cultures doesn't change the attitude

Doesn't it..? I would have thought it would unless that 'exposed' someone is superbly blinkered

it's just in Poland political correctness doesn't exist in such broad way like in other countries

Political corectness in Denmark lol, Muhamed cartoons anyone, not mention tons of satire that would be completely unthinkable in US, UK and France...

"Poland? Oh, it's that poor post-communistic immigrant country full of alcoholics

true, minus the alcoholic part (that'd be Russians) besides when it comes to the beer consumption and the ensuing drunkeness especially among the young, it's hard to beat Danes... I think according to Swedes and Norwegians we are the alcoholics... actually Xmas season in Denmark starts with the realese of special, extra strong brew Julebryg (first friday of November) it's all about beer really

From what you see? From where exactly? Tailand or Denmark?

Been to Poland, you know. Rarely heard any Pole say anything nice about other nationality, they'd usually concentrate on negatives(imaginary or not) and if the country in question happened to be poorer than Poland then they'd have a field day... but those were the late 90's so I surmise that attitudes might have changed since, given more openess, increased affluence and more exposure to other cultures through travels and such.

here inAmericawe refer to Latin people as those who originate from LatinAmerica

Just keep looking at your sentence for a bit, see what I mean. But I know where you're coming from on this one. When someone mentions a Latin girl (Latina) no way in hell he means Romanian, that's just Eastern European.

But even in Europe defefintion of Latin can be confusing, historically Latin Europe means countries under the sway of Roman Catholic Church and here Poland would be Latin unlike Othodox Romania. If by Latin you mean countries speaking Romance languges then Romania is just that.

From what I can see there is this unhealthy tendency to look down upon other nationalities, particularly those hailing from countries worse off than Poland. I'd wager it is simply an expression of some sort of Polish inferiority complex, as Poles often are not that hip either in the eyes of others, hence their need to find someone 'lower' to pick on to feel better about themselves. By no means it's a prevailing attitude though it is noticeable. The younger and better educated Poles are probably to a large extent free of that.

Life / Your Polish friends - why do you regard them as such? [41]

I assume you want stories about my Polish friends in California Seanus. "You are truly Polish."

Oh I missed that one, I guess I wasn't around here at the time, hilarious. Sorry Seanus but the guy is right, your flower-power Polish kumbaya friendship stories are way too cloying... lol I'd take a Pole with a massive amount of coke anytime over a Danny The Coffee Bearer

History / Gen X Poland '69 – '82, [22]

Yes but in case of Denmark this doesn't just stem from having enough money to go around, although that obviously factors in. It's also part of the culture; Janteloven (which may or may not be a negative thing depending on the context) as well as the Scandinavian form of societal all-inclusiveness (roots of social equality).

Historically these were very sparsely populated countries, competing against much larger neighbors to the south. Therefore the need to utilize everyone and as such care about everyone (even the weakest) so that the whole collective was strong, was recognized very early on. Heck you can even trace it back to Viking times, where the Viking longboats were kind of individual cooperatives with the crew members as more or less equal co-owners of the enterprise...

they can afford to appear to be no-materialistic

correction, they don't appear, they are and yes it is a result of generations growing up in relative affluence and social equality, one the lowest rates of disparity between rich and poor in the entire world

warts and all.

Speaking of which (at the peril of getting heaps of flak) when I was there (in Warsaw) I noticed a lot of Polish men were running around with all kinds of zits and pimples on their faces.. is this still a 'problem' or has the metrosexual wind of change swept across of Polska?

Ha ! well, go on - what is your take?

well not really my take (oh well it is too but that was in the late 90's when I spent 7 months there to polish my Polish:) ), just some of my friends from Denmark who made that observation, but perhaps that's not so surprising as Danes tend to be very unmaterialistic

I don't see much evidence of vulgarity if that's what you mean.

not vulgar but perhaps slightly pronounced, at least seen with Scandinavian eyes.. anyways just checking and thanks for sharing your insight.

USA, Canada / Going back to the Old Country of Poland after more than 25 years! (from USA) [249]

I think he might have been referring to the fact that you can buy bananas in Poland nowadays??

Really..? That's it I'm coming! Please save some for me, there wouldn't be anything more disappointing than a heap of blackened banana peels greeting me at the airport...

Nah ok seriously, awesome thread, keep at it Rybnik. Do you, per chance, plan to venture outside Wroclaw, any other cities?

I'm pretty much speechless when it comes to Natasa.. well no, not really, just tired and about to crash.. but seriously she is so painfully blind, carpet bombing on hope and prayer with random definitions... Not being able to see the forest for the trees doesn't even start to describe it.. it's like she is in midst of it, dressed up in a park ranger uniform staring at those mother-fucking trees all around her yet all she sees is a couple of fornicating squirrels, wondering if they per chance would fancy a threesome...

Flagless is in his own category to say the least. He is a brilliant writer with a twisted sense of humour, but I love reading his posts because they add some sauce to PF.

nice... thanks aphro I was just about to start a new thread: FlaglessPole - what do you think of him? well no need for that now.. though a possible alternative could be: What about the rest of you cunts?

Well, I got to try replying sascha style i.e. dissecting a whole cohesive message into individual sentences, thus conveniently taking them out of context and just reacting off of to each one of them. An obvious advantage of this approach is a zero reliance on creativity...who needs creativity anyway when you can spend your days transcribing news from Russian state-approved media and then sell it as an apogee of free thinking on polishforums, right? I wonder if this may be an offspring of this strange pack mentality... safety in numbers..the more disjointed sentences the merrier? Hey why stop there, why not just take a sentence and split it into words... That would completely absolve me of any imagination, how sweet! Shall we?

..hmm do i really need an emoticon to tell that i'm taking the fvck out of him..? What would sacha do..? ah yeah he would put one in lest the whole thing was mistaken for a X-mass card.

So there, end of the experiment I guess now I come across as an agrreable and amicable poster worthy PF according to sascha (but not yet the Balkan corner, no not there, there you need to go syllable by syllable just to make sure that all thinking is eliminated) . Way to go sascha!

btw, why you are at all here? isnt your place at atp, together with gw, kitty hawk, bberlin62 or whatever nick she uses now? there the company is adequate.

here you are misplaced by only using your 'circus english' as an attraction is ziemlich arm.

greets to your buddies on atp. ;)

Lol what is this..? Balkan Special Olympics with a Serbian bobsleigh team as a highlight..? Didn't know I needed to be on a team here. Call me stupid but I mistook this place for an open internet forum.. sorta place one normally would associate with individualism and freedom of expression... not a kindergarten with designated sandboxes
