History / Khazars and their crimes in the Slavic lands of Poland [63]

Is there any chance that the studies you are referring to will be posted?

And here we all thought eugenics died in the ashes of Nazi Germany!

I don't believe in this Khazar stuff but that is spot on. There is zero evidence for this racial purity theory, I would love to see some studies showing what is claimed.

One key factor is that DNA studies of the Ashkenazi population show no connection to the Khazars at all.

Not really surprising as there are no Khazars to test against.

There is no Jewish DNA and no hard scientific evidence from D N A studies re Palestine or Israel or the steppes

Is Catholicism allowed under Sharia law?

Yes, you can even go for a pint in Iran.

Sharia can mean anything a nut wants it to mean

in that manifestation, being other then God, cannot be perfect. Yet, manifestation comes from God, and is thus an extension of his nature, however corrupted this nature might become as manifestation grows distant from the source.

If pure genius exists how can the above be true?

Life / What makes a man a Pole? what does it mean to be a Pole? [187]

I wouldn't have thought that a set of opposing Nationalists would be a good example of objective history.

Differences are simply a question of terminology and weighting.

Anyway as this is going nowhere I'm away to bed

There is a Polish version of history, as has been shown above.

There is history and like science it's universal if you are a **** poor historian you are a **** poor historian independent of nationality or faux lack of....

I believe

That's the problem you believe but don't have any evidence to support your picture of happy content polish people in someone else's empire. There is however plenty of evidence for the suppression of Polish cultural life while occupied by foreign powers.

All those refugees didn't arrive in the US telling everyone they were Prussian, Austrian or Russian they were Polish.

regained territories

Regained territories is a political term which sounds better than reparations it's not a historical term.

The Polish version of history is always correct?

There is no Polish version of history.

There is an interpretation of history based upon recorded events which clearly indicates that there was a Poland during the times that it was occupied.

The history of Poland didn't stop at any point in the past, the language and culture also survived despite the best efforts of the occupying powers.

Fits with the romantic ideals over pragmatism.

I don't really understand what you mean about pragmatism vs romanticism in this context. There is nothing romantic about being ruled by people who speak a different language and have a different religion and culture.

A colonial view of history doesn't consider any of those things it is more like an accountant's ledger

Life / The changing RCC habits of Poles [70]

I'm drawing conclusions based on your behaviour on this forum

What a moveable feast this thread is, it wasn't so long ago that the op was telling all that the only way to leave the Church was through formal resignation.

Thank you Paulina for stating the obvious truth about this thread.

A nice piece of common sense to match Paulina's

News / The Bauman Affair: A Clear and Present Danger to Democracy and Academic Freedom in Poland [26]

The academic was shouted down but the effect was to silence people who would normally condemn such antics. It's this malevolent threat (of violence) that the author is concerned about and how far it has seeped into public life in Poland.

Heckling is part of the hustings but in the TV age hustings rarely happen, hecklers can ask the questions that the public want answered when the media don't ask the questions but this was an academic event where heckling has no place.

There is no doubt that he is a Communist and his connection to a certain newspaper confirms that assessment.

I don't care if he is a communist now or in the past it's not a reason to threaten violence.

Would you agree that he is a person who is regarded as supporting politically leftist or subversive causes?

Again I don't care, if his opinions are so silly they can be easily destroyed through debate.

Perhaps a list of people and topics that are forbidden would be a good thing but I would need to be convinced before agreeing to such a thing.

Love / I love a Polish girl, but I don't want her to drink [37]

Learn to know

Wine was potent in the Iron Age, the Celts were considered uncivilised because they didn't dilute their wine with water like the Greeks and Romans.

Modern wine is much stronger (too high an alcohol content) than wine has traditionally been but that is a recent thing.

Travel / Rihanna complains about lack of privacy on Polish beach [150]

Please stop with the leftest racist diatribe

There is nothing "leftist" about pointing out that the term is unacceptable and not in common usage in English. Labelling something as "leftist" means nothing there is no call for the proletariat to seize all means of production.

Suarez claimed that his normal Spanish words were acceptable when clearly they were not.

How surprising that you feel your knowledge is superior to that of Professor of African History at Cornell University, John Clarke. He very clearly thought that using the word mulatto was perfectly acceptable

Acceptability depends on context I assumed you knew that (in work cant see video)

The etymology thing is a red herring, Spanish evolved alongside Arabic in Iberia for 800 years of course there was a lot of cross fertilisation. Preferring the Arabic root rather than the Latin root because you consider it less insulting is in its self a tad insulting.

Suarez tried to claim that his use of words towards Evra was not racist because they were Spanish. That was a BS explanation in both Spanish and English, the man knew exactly what he was saying. In the same way mulato is unacceptable in both Spanish and English and has nothing to do with "PC"...whatever that is.
