All I care about is maximizing my economic benefit and minimizing my risk, and I will make the best decisions accordingly. This is economics, not morality or ethics.

But your actions have a knock on effect with the economy - as we all know!

If this was simply a case of a bad decision on a low-rate loan (i.e. with introductory teaser rate, variable interest, rising interest rates, etc.) then that would be different. Yes, plenty of people in the US are defaulting just because of those reasons. But the CHF component has added another factor that multiplies these losses even further.

But it was, you took a risk with a low rate foreign currency mortgage - sounds simple to me.

I would seem the American attitude of "just post keys back" is the cause of many problems! Its not that simple in Europe!

Its all about the accent and whilst they may speak English, they have an awful accent which is not English, which is the key word here.

Education and polish, forget it. They beg from EU which is paid by us. They dont have money to fund universities in poland. Polish education is cheap crap not worth anything in Germany or France. Most of your university graduates dont speak english. In Germany all university chaps speak english.

All of my grads speak English because strangely enough, they're educated in England (Im English!)..Now for Polish universities...No idea, but one in Krakow is on the list of top universities in the world so they cant all be bad also had the pleasure of working with a couple of Polish engineers who were excellent - so again, their education system cant be that bad.

Really, most of the IT chaps in Germany are from there , now even management. Most of the factory workers ,electricians and prostitutes from poland, aint that great ?

Cheap labour - Indians are not that great and it says more about Germany if you're allowing them to take up management positions :) some factory work is skilled and electricians are skilled and if you have to go with foreign prostitutes because your own women are so ugly then..hey hoe!

You forgot Doctors, Dentists and Engineers...of course the mostly the best will stay in Poland because they can make a decent life for themselves there....

Okay Im going to come and stand in his defence, he is actually a really decent lovely guy...maybe a little bit misguided...I think in this day and age the signals and diffent kind of women that are out there really confuse men...They are after all very simple creatures :)

Work / Back from the UK and working in Poland [23]

Now i have tried to get back to UK but its not feasible as there are so much regulations and there are no jobs.

There are plenty of chef jobs, but the requirements are much higher now, which means your old employers were paying less than required for you to earn the points - am I correct?

I'll just tell you, it was the wrong girl for you...If a girl is genuine in her feelings, she will want to spend time with you...If you start acting like a pr*ck, then she will dump you - girls can be players too..unfortunately...Relationships are complicated things if people start playing games, if people just get on with it and "enjoy" then they are fantastic.

As for being "Bombarded" isnt it funny how all women think the same - regardless of their nationality :)

Quite a few of the ones I know are like that. Married or dating but still go out and party on their own or with friends (without their girl). Women don't respect men who are too obedient and faithful. If she sees you're acting like it's all indifferently to you whether you're with her or not it get's her thinking ironically makes her want you. Because being nice all the nice looks desperate and is boring to a girl.

Men are free to go out with their friends same as Im free to go out with mine...but I'd kick any man that treated me "inderfferently" in to touch! The whole "treat em mean keep em keen" is a fookin myth created by single men...

As you can see from the above, women dont agree with your statement honey :) x

Poland is quite well on its way to becoming a rich and developed country. Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Africa for the most part - are not.

India is on its way to becoming wealthy for those that are in the top 5,000,000 - the rest will stay poor and be trying to find ways to get out, same as the rest of the BRIC countries...huge populations and a small % of which are doing well...3 of which are still benefactors of aid from the West which Poland contributes to.

I used to have an Indian neighbor who was exporting fabrics from India to Poland and a couple of other countries and he said that Poland is where the most beautiful people live.

Indian's a full of the nice talk - just wait till he was with his friends and telling them how he was cheating people in Poland :)

Anyways - putting Poles ( EU as of 2004 ) in the same bag as "Nepalis,Indians, Pakistanis,Banglachaps,Arabs,Serbians and Africans" ( not EU last time I checked ) is no longer possible.

I dont think it ever was - by the way Arabs are "perceived" as being rich and I would never have put Serbs in the same bag as 3 countries either.... :)

6.Lack education and manners.

All Poles have an education from an early age regardless of their social standing, they also have a large % that go on to further education, the other countries dont even come close and as for manners, Ive had a couple of Polish guys give up their seat on the bus, the others wouldnt even think about doing such a thing (true - asians and africans are ignorant in this matter!).

I think Slavic men are more unpredictable and do things on instinct so girls like that. They never know what going to happen while dating us.

Hmmm..Cant say Ive really noticed that, but my knowledge is limited.

Actually it was about 2 years (I never really thought about it to be honest until now I had it fitted when I was about 12 years old!!) a mixtures of retainer and fixed and it was simply one tooth cross over at the front caused by too many teeth (The Brits seem to have smaller mouths that the Yanks!)...Who gives a fo+k my teeth are unaturally straight looking now....

I switch the channel whenever I see the coverage come on.

I didnt even put the TV on.

lots of American tourists, the Royal family bring lots of dollars into the UK. The Americans come over here and spend their dollars and we get an extra days holiday for the wedding,

So effectively Americans paid for the royal wedding :)

When I start talking about default here, I'm hearing gasps and rebukes of "what kind of person are you", whereas the thinking in the other hemisphere seems to be more one of acceptance of the new reality, that defaults are a natural way of life,

Actually its the above attitude is one which has caused many problems in my country...Sub prime mortgages ringing any bells for you? Massive losses in British Banking because of said sub prime mortgages ringing any bells for you? Seems more an American attitude than a British one.

You were happy to take a high risk low rate, but it's backfired on you and now you want to just walk away, people like you shouldnt be able to invest in foreign countries because from what I can tell from your posts is that you are irrsponsible and incapable of doing the right thing when things get tough.

I feel sorry for families who lose their homes when their circumstances take a turn for the worst, but greedy investers like you shouldnt be allowed into Europe.

I am all for individual expression and freaking out squares

One can do this in a colourful manner, I used to make my own clothes and wear stuff for "shock value" but goths just look boring and unified..where is the individuality in that? "oh look....there's another goth"....

They are British Goths, is this a universal truth re Goths?

Sweeping generalisation....You'd be surprised that rather a lot are not from nice semi detatached house and they are in fact come off council estates...its all about rebelling...rather than class and more about seeking something..WTF I have no idea...As for the girls...are you kidding..stunning is not a word Id use..sorry..

What do I think about Wrocław?

Well, I have mixed feelings. Somewhere else I said I wouldn`t like to live there because it reminds me of Krakow too much. And it is not only blue trams. :):):)

Been to both as a tourist of course, and enjoyed them both, architecture wise, I preferred Krakow but from an atomphere stance, I preferred Wrocław, I thought the people were nicer (no offence, Im just a tourist after all)...I think Wrocław in the summer looks much nicer, I was there in the winter...maybe a return visit is needed for a better comparison.

We have National Insurance that's a separate payment which takes care of our pension (which is also a pittence) and health care I think its about 11% of my salary which I pay each month.

You'll note its not exactly a lot, god knows how people manage on it my home phone and mobile comes to £50 per month, not to mention utilities..puts into perspective really.

Just out of curiosity, how much does a British national or a foreign legal resident get out of benefits in the UK? money, health insurance, him/his family. I've read that out of the developed nations the United States gives the least, supposedly the Danes are most generous?!

We dont have to pay for health insurance, we have a national health service that provides for us, if someone isnt working they even get free dental care and prescriptions and glasses (if they need them)..but gas and electric and food are expensive. A person who is unemployed will also get their rent paid or assistance with their mortgage.

There are two types of benefits, income based non income based, strangely enough, if a person has worked for 25 years and a person has never worked, they both get paid the same £64 per week...ridiculous!

I can tell you that in the Horeca sector in London it was illegal immigrants.

In the north it was students and backpackers.

I had a student at my university several years ago who went to England and earned 60 quid a day picking strawberries. If you don't believe me, just do a little research.

A lot of my friends went off to the South of France for the summer picking grapes - it was more for the experience and the fun of meeting people than for the money also had friends that went and did camp America for the summer - students dont care about the cash its the adventure! They dont have famlies to support.

exactly! and how much of that money did the agency give the worker? did the agency supply the accommodation? Was the rent taken from their wages? Employ people from another country, they'll need accommodation. that's one hold you can't have over locals.
It's easier and cheaper for farmers, or any employer for that matter, to use and agency than advertise.

My friend lives in Derbyshire opposite a rather large farm in the countryside, she sees a mini bus load of non lazy Brits :) turning up at the crack of dawn every day...I doubt the farmer put an ad in the local post office! I also doubt they're getitng £100 per day either..

so what are you trying to say, that they asked their own people first and they refused to work for a £100 a day? Of course that would support the idea that they are lazy.

It would IF someone was being paid £100 per day (how many hours does one have to do for that kind of money btw?)..

I used to do it myself in my student days. I'm going back to the beginning of the 90's but even then I earned between 100 and 120 a day grafting roses.

Yeah and we all know that wages have been slashed since the good old 90s

A few days ago there was a report on BBC Radio 4's Farming Today programme on seasonal workers from eastern Europe. According to an interviewed farmer, the best worker on the farm earned 100GBP/day, with the average being 60 pounds. The Lithuanian and Polish workers were delighted to be earning that kind of money, but the farmer said that he simply couldn't find British people willing to work hard for good money.

£100 per day - me thinks that farmer was telling porkies..most if not all pay minimum wage, some dont even pay that for seasonal jobs (ilegal I know but they do it!), which used to be done by students or backpackers...How many Brits do you know, who would turn their noses up at £500 or even £300 per week? Id also love to know which agency he got his workers through and if local workers were even given the opportunity of these jobs..might explain a few things.

Id like to see that too, because when I shop in various stores, there are these lazy ungrateful Brits who think these jobs are beneath them, doing just that..in fact..come to think of it...who the hell was doing these jobs before we joined the EU or the enlargement of the EU or before mass immigration to the UK, who worked in the factories and cotton mills?

The mantra "Brits are lazy" is just pure and simply propaganda!

I think it's a proud day for Poland. Also, I feel expectations are low, which is a very good thing. Hopefully, Poland will do a good job and raise some eyebrows ;) Polak potrafi!

True Polish girls have soft delicate Slavic features not ruff masculine faces, he just found one example and proclaims it's all of them

I still dont think she looks masculine, she is attractive..but has strong features.

Asian men (Orientals) are not men but little boys, except for Pacific Islander like Samoans, or Tahitians who are big men.

Ive seen some attractive looking Korean men...defo not feminine looking..or maybe I like that cute look..

Annie Lennox is beautiful, but a lot of men would find her masculine, personally I find her striking:

Oh we are angry about it....1,000s of jobs are being axed and services cut back..libraries shut down and hospitals struggling because inflationary costs are not being met..pensions being attacked..We are damaging ourselves day by day to ensure poorer nations PROSPER! WHY! The EEC worked, the EU does not! The protests in the last days are a start, the British public have had enough of that Barrosso he is a dirty self-severing Portuguese peasant who shouldnt be allowed a voice since his country is phukkin bankrupt! No wonder he wants more money from us!!!!!!!!!!

History / Felix Topolski - what a wonderful discovery (for me) [15]

If this is what all of his works look like, then I'm guessing his personality must've been slightly more interesting than his sketches were? (A bit too simple for my liking.)

Then you dont seem to see the beauty in simplistic art - its pure beauty as far as Im concerned - if you have an imgination, rather than a one dimensional view..you'd see it.
