Love / I was late and this Polish girl flipped out [36]

she told me that being 30 mins late was very disrespectful.

Sometimes people are late - it seems like she's an awkward person and really one to avoid.

If it's about punctuality, Poles sometimes expect things to be on time and you should take that into acount when inviting Poles to dinner. I prefer the French habit of being 20 minutes late.

News / What must be done to improve politics in Poland? [72]

it seems you do not like PiS but have not given reasons why they are so terrible and why PO or whatever party you are in favour of, is better.

That's a matter for the voters. They already decided.

What is wrong with PiS? What is it peopel do not like about them?

Exactly. The voters had the chance to choose PiS but decided they didn't want them. PiS were only able to form a government for a very short time by taking part in a coalition with two fringe parties. Without those extremist and unpredictable partners they couldn't survive and were voted out. Before that they indulged in 'teraz kurwa my' politics and bizarre decisions. Since then they have just made fools of themselves.

The people of Poland chose Platforma instead, in a free and fair election.

News / "Shale Gas Revolution" will make Poland a Leading Country in Europe! [202]

can end up with

Can - but we know very well that business works differently and always has. Only the inept get caught - only the very inept or very unlucky get brought to justice.

Fortunately the 'shale gas' idea is unlikely to come to much in Poland for a whole host of reasons.

News / "Shale Gas Revolution" will make Poland a Leading Country in Europe! [202]

In reality, Poland's environmental regulations are pretty strict and well defined

And breakable.

The hard facts remain. Extraction of 'shale gas' is is a highly dangerous process involving pumping large amounts of toxic substances into the ground at very high pressure. Contamination of groundwater is but one of its problems. This is why some jurisdictions have banned it and more are discussing a ban. These facts are incontrovertible.

Not really. Nobody is being killed because Poland isn't pumping toxic and highly dangerous substances into the ground. If anything, there are statistically likely to be fatalities from increased mineral drilling - I work in that field and sadly know how dangerous drilling is. But that's going off on a tangent, rather like your post.

The dangers of shale fracking are well known - watch the film Gasland, it's a good laypersons' guide to this highly dangerous and unpleasant practice.

Physical fracturing is not the problem, its the chemicals used in the fluid that is the problem because they pollute ground water and contaminate the soil and water supplies in many places

Yes. This is true.

A mining company on the UK coastline has been ordered to stop exploratory shale drilling as it might have caused a couple of small tremors in Northern England.........

Not so small that they can be ignored. And this in an area with no previous seismic activity.

Shale gas is very bad news.

News / Visegrad Battle Group under the command of Poland [261]

why Poland agree with everything that coming from EU? Why?

A wise question. The answer is simple - because most people here are happy with that - few feel otherwise.

Food / Poland's favourite meal? [11]

Pretty much what most Polish food is made of. Saturated fats, salt, bland vegetables and pig meat.

Love / My Polish girlfriend's mother called her a prostitute because we live together [113]

Prostitutite is a term almost always used for females, not males.
For males, the term is libertine or whatever.

No it isn't.

In most of cases, maybe always, in relations, females are poorer than their male partners.

Given gender inequality and the glass ceiling, women are more likely to be poorer. Still doesn't makethem prostitutes.

When they are not married or when they are not life term darlings, such females are called prostitution if they are not married.

Perhaps by you (where did you say you were from?). Somebody is a prostitute if they earn money by having sexual relations for cash. Not because their partner has a slightly better job.

he now has to live on a pension of 1200zl a month because the government took some of it away.

Stop trolling. We all know about the pensions reduction. Didn't happen to 'police commanders' though. Just spooks.

Your relatives are either lying or live in the boondocks. Every large supermarket has both.

Life / What are those scars and cuts on many Polish guys' arms? [21]

Such tattoos are a part of a jail code called grypsera

Like the little plastic ball (usually from a pen) inserted under the skin half way down the wotsit and held in place by scar tissue. To avoid.

We send cash to poland every year with clothes and stuff.

There are shopping malls all over Poland and PL is at the high end of being a middle-income country, so forget the sh1tty Chinese-made-American 'clothes'. Keep sending the cash though; people can spend it at TK Maxx, Peek & Cloppenburg or even Starbucks.

Doesn't make you any sort of patriot though.
