Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

and a surprising number show romantic interest. These are the women who are secure enough to accept a real man and not what passes for one.

I don't believe it either, but just in case:
those are the ones that are out to 'get you'! Don't let your guard down! They are setting you up to exact revenge for your mysogynistic ways!

Work / How is the Warsaw job opportunities for international students? [43]

This stupid caste system they have in India, forbids the laborer (the lowest caste, the 'untoachables') to even touch anyone in higher caste.

One time I had a pleasure of working with a guy from India. He was a newbe engineer that thought that picking up a 'scope probe was below him. It was a technician's job.

I can't imagine hiring and international student from India, obviously a higher caste, to clean anyone's house.

Love / A Polish womans relationship with her mother in law. [44]

it's not about his past offenses. It's about her willingness to bring them up. I could not imagine a scenario where I would list my son's past mistakes to prove a point. This was not a healthy relationship between a mother and a son to start with. The mother tried to enlist the wife to her side and got told: "he's my husband". Good for them!

The son might not have the balls to stand up to his mother, that's why he comes up with the lame excuses, but at least he tries to keep his wife away.

Sorry, lady, when you put your problems up on the forum for an inspection, you might hear opinions you'll not like.

Love / A Polish womans relationship with her mother in law. [44]

It looks to me like he does not want to hear you talking rubbish about pot bancrupting him, the murder of your first granchild, or him passing venerial disease. Your son figured out that you have a way of using what you know against him, and would prefer you not know anything else about his life. This has nothing to do with the wife, unless he was too blind to see and she had to point that out to him. You should hope that she helps him get over the past and remember, guilt is one powerful tool in mother's toolbox you should never use. You will only push him further away.

Drama last moments of the flight to Smolensk showed even more recently published transcripts . And although the public has yet audio recordings from the black boxes of the Tu- 154 M , the " Poland and the World" made a simulation of what has happened a few minutes before the crash .

The material is based primarily on transcripts published on Tuesday. In addition to the simulation used all available.

Language / Polish Slang Phrases - Elephant Me! - Huh?!! [14]

Fortepian można zasłonić lecz słonia nie można zafortepianić.

to me, it loosly means that not everything goes both ways, or, not always the reverse is true. It's a play on words, based on the fact that "to cover" and "elephant" sound the same in Polish.

But back to the song! I just found out that it's like 4 years old, and it's the funniest thing I've heard in along time. Polish men with a biting sense of humor is a new discovery for me!

No disrespect to present company. Yo. :)

News / Decoded talks inside Poland's president's plane are released in Internet [337]

The warning signal PULL UP appeared 10 times

the theory is that the PIC deliberately flew under the "glidepath", trying to spot the runway in the fog, that's why he ignored the TAWS. The problem was that they apparently did not take under the consideration the large dip in the terrain.

I'm still a bit puzzled by the rad alt readings: 100, 90, 80... With the terrain, I expected them to be less uniform.

It would make sense if the 100m reading was when they were over lowest part of the dip.
And Unknown, prezumably Błasik, paying attantion to altimeter readings... poor man probably knew they were in a mess before anyone else..
And why, for Christ's sake, were they not engaging tower more??

Life / Awkward Polish dinner party conversations with 'patriots' ... [25]

What I do in these situations, is not argrue generalities, but steer the discussion to particulars like policies, events, situations. Even the biggest 'patriots' know that not EVERYTHING is better in Poland. If you wisely conceed some points, they will start conceeding some too, and before you know it they'll be back to the usual kwetching about everything.

Life / Help...any Polish remedies for hives? [17]

this is probably unrelated to your case, but who knows: couple of years ago, nasty attacks of hives signaled my newly acquired allergy to penicillin-based antibiotics. This was also coincidental with a very stressfull time in my life - hurricaine damaging my home.
