Life / The rising costs of food and fuel in Poland and the effects on disposable income/economy [177]

Merged:

Fuel prices to increase by 25gr/litre - Hard Working Polish Families Hit Hard

In yet another example of a "Good Change", PiS have decide to hit hard working families right where it hurts - with a 25gr/litre increase in the price of fuel. This means that the poorest in society, who often live in places without public transport, will now face additional taxes to go to work, to school, etc. 25gr/litre is equal to 10zł on every tank of fuel. Those living in rural areas are often paying the higher prices for fuel as it is, and PiS are hurting those people most of all.

biznes.onet.pl/wiadomosci/kraj/oplata-paliwowa-w-gore-ceny-paliw-tez/w0ct7d

The fact that they are rushing this measure into place during the summer holidays so that hard working families can be additionally taxed on their way to their holidays says it all. The only "Good Change" here is the one that saw party loyalists rewarded with high salaries and official cars that they can use for private business without being taxed.

News / Thousands of teachers to lose their jobs in Poland [57]

and that it matches basically the us system.

Nah, it's much worse than that. It's a return to the Communist system of having 8 years of primary school and 4 years of high school rather than the previous system that more or less was like the American system.

They're also planning to abolish externally-marked exams (leading to a return to the mass corruption found in the previous system) and to allow universities to conduct their own entry tests again (again, leading to mass corruption and nepotism)

Life / Indian community in Poland [43]

Hii l am planning to shift to Poznan from India how much Indians are there in Poznan?

Quite a lot. Most international companies have quite a few working there now, so you won't have any problems meeting and socialising with them.

News / Majority of Poles support same-sex civil partnerships [9]

Good news! For the first time, a majority of Polish people support the right of same sex couples to enter into civil partnerships. While it's only the beginning, this is the start of a process that should lead to Poland leaving the dark ages in terms of human rights and entering the era of European enlightenment.

oko.press/pierwszy-polsce-zwolennicy-homoseksualnych-zwiazkow-partnerskich-sa-wiekszosci-moze-juz-czas

Interestingly, even Kukiz'15 and Korwin-Mikke supporters support civil partnershps, proving that it's not a matter of left-right divide, but rather a matter of education.

Study / Help !! I want to study Dramatic Art (Acting ) in Poland [6]

Don't stress about which university you attend, but rather focus on making as many contacts as you can here. There are opportunities for foreign actors in Poland, you just need to be very, very good at networking. PWST is a good choice, as Kraków has a huge artistic scene and there are plenty of opportunities there. It's also a well known, well established centre for the dramatic arts.

Study / Young Nigerian Sets Record in Polish University [75]

Again no one heard about this student before.

They certainly know about him now. Perhaps the story will be picked up by the Polish media as a perfect example of the kind of academic talent now being attracted to Poland.

Again, big deal.

It is a big deal. Polish universities are rigorous academically, and your constant downplaying of his achievement is interesting. Are you suggesting that in fact, Polish universities are not good?

You went without saying it because it goes without saying that you haven't.

Instead of attacking me, why not take me up on the internship? Why are you afraid to move to Poland?

and you never articulated that this Nigerian is smarter than you and will live a better life than you.

Given that he achieved an all-time record in his university in Poland for his academic achievements, I suggest he's smarter than most people and will indeed have a good life. Good on him, I only hope he chooses to make Poland his home.

making a big song and danceabout not only his grades but his race and country of origin.

You seem to be haunted by the fact that this Nigerian gentleman was able to come to Poland and succeed in his studies. Can you explain why?

You obviously never got such grades yourself like he has

Don't worry Bieganski. I know you'll never experience the pleasure of being recognised in Poland for your achievements, nor will you ever enjoy the pleasure of being invited to official events with the Polish government. Nor will you ever represent Poland abroad as part of official delegations. It's understandable that you resent those that have succeeded in Poland, as witnessed by your constant attacks on the Nigerian gentleman in question and other attacks on successful foreigners here.

Tell you what, though. I'm a kind person, and if you want to do something for Poland, I've got a year-long placement to fill after the last candidate dropped out in a new 7th class programme, starting in September and ending in June. Accommodation is provided, though you'll have to cover the cost of food and airfares. I can arrange the residence permit for you, and you'll be paid according to trainee teacher levels. Interested? Drop me a PM.

putrid threads like this one

Says it all. I'm sorry that you can't celebrate diversity and achievement.

race-baiting threads

What are they? The fact that you have constant problems whenever successful non-Poles are mentioned here suggests that the problem lies with you and not me. I certainly have no problems with celebrating the achievement of an Nigerian student in Poland, but you certainly do.

You're angry too that someone who isn't white managed to get top marks and so is smarter than you.

Projecting, I see. I'm very happy for him that he succeeded in Poland, and I hope he comes here to work now that he's graduated. He certainly will be an asset to one of the many multinational companies in Poland which employ multinational workforces.

If PF is a cesspit then you have to be given all the credit for filling it personally to the brim.

LOL. Nothing at all to do with you trashing threads with thinly disguised racist rants, of course.

Sums up your attitude towards Poland, Poles and Polonia completely.

You've got no idea what I've done for Poland. Needless to say, there's a reason why I've received awards for my public service in this country and you...haven't.

Obviously the many people you would have had to been dealing with are completely unaware of your disturbing postings and numerous and lengthy suspensions on PF.

I imagine they couldn't care less, given that PF has the reputation in Poland as being an online cess pit and not to be taken seriously in the slightest. Of course, you wouldn't know this, not living in Poland and not having any connection to Poland.

And how ever have you managed to balance daily round the clock trolling on PF while simultaneously involved in what you allege are government funded projects at the state and EU level?

I'm aware that you're quite jealous that you weren't able to gain access to the programmes, but these were for people from poorer countries, not richer countries. I have zero interest in helping people from wealthy countries come to Poland, as they can pay for themselves.

Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw has an increasing number, mostly from Turkey, which has been a great success

Yes, and not only. There are many smaller universities that have found great benefit in encouraging students from all over the world, not least because multicultural campuses allow the development of broad minded, well educated individuals.

Perhaps Bieganski should ask his parents if they will pay him to study in Poland. It might do him some good, and he might actually learn something in Polish too.

Little do you know, our teenage friend.

In fact, I've been involved with projects for years to bring people from outside Europe to Poland. Ever heard of Erasmus+ and other mobility programmes? The European Union very generously financed many such projects, as did the Polish government, and they both continue to do so. It's very satisfying when you see someone at the conclusion of a project decide to stay in PL for the long term.

I've also established a programme that sees those from the ENP countries given access to certain Polish universities on a preferential fee basis. You'd be surprised just how many foreigners have experienced Poland because of my work so far.

Now, turn off the computer before your parents realise that you've spent the entire day online again.

Let's hope plenty more people come to study in Poland.

I think it's our duty to encourage as many educational successes as possible to come here, no matter how much some foaming mouth racists may object from the other side of the pond.

News / Mysterious death of Magdalena Żuk on holiday in Egypt [144]

Morally easier for some to try and insinuate by means of conspiracy theory that someone else is to blame. It wouldn't be the first time.

It isn't the first time and it won't be the last time. Some people will invent the most terrible things, just to protect a Polish company or person.

What would it cost for a doctor to escort her on the plane? A few thousand at the most.

News / Mysterious death of Magdalena Żuk on holiday in Egypt [144]

The resort in question is specifically geared to the elderly and to young families and is marketed as a more sedate and family-friendly alternative to Hurghada.

Even more reason why a woman in obvious severe distress should have been given the VIP treatment and taken back to Poland as quickly as possible. Even if she was in the grips of a severe breakdown, she could have been restrained on the plane for the 4 hour flight back to Poland quite safely and without problem, perhaps under the escort of a doctor.

Instead, the company abandoned her in her time of need. It's an absolute disgrace, but the usual suspects prefer their insane and poorly thought out conspiracy theories rather than criticising the company that has responsibility for her death.

people feeling they have to try to blame someone else in order to defend a Polish company, no matter how appalling their service was.

That's exactly it. Notice how none of the usual suspects here blamed the tour company, even though the most obvious thing to do with someone in clear and complete distress would have been to throw all the available resources towards making sure that she got back to Poland for treatment. The fact that she wasn't allowed on the plane despite being in obvious mental turmoil shows just how deep the failings of the Polish tour company were in this case.

It's childish and pathetic. Criticism where criticism is due, and that criticism should be directed at the tour operator who failed repeatedly and constantly.

That doesn't work.

One wonders why you're using this thread to insult and trash Nigeria rather than focusing on the fact that this young man not only went abroad to study, but outperformed locals.

People having tragedies on holiday is all too common

Indeed. By all accounts, she was in a pretty dreadful state, and the question remains why the Polish tour company representative wasn't able to deal with it.

News / Mysterious death of Magdalena Żuk on holiday in Egypt [144]

A number of foreign tourists and other visitors in Poland have died over the years of various sad causes, including a young woman a couple of decades ago who just disappeared without trace.

Wasn't there some foreign conspiracy theorist who died only recently and suddenly?

Why weren't our friends on here so concerned about him? Was it because Żuk was a young, attractive female?

I'm just saying this stuff does happen and that is why laughing off the Magdalena Zuk incident are proven to be suicide, is careless, to say the least.

The fact that the Polish prosecutors so far have found absolutely nothing to prove anything other than suicide says it all.

Here's an example of another majority Islamic country where it appears if something happens to you, it's difficult to get anybody to do anything about it.

Come on, she fell for one of the oldest scams in the book. It's no different to the idiotic foreigners in Poland that get stung in clip joints.

It's not a nice situation, but following strange men that you've just met in a foreign country is hardly a wise idea, is it? Would you wander off with a strange girl in Spain?

Polonia / The Polish Failures Club in Berlin [3]

Does anyone know more about this? It was set up by some Polish immigrants in Berlin, and appears to enjoyed considerable success. I wonder if anyone here has attended one of their events, or seen the film that they inspired, Die Ostseeerweiterung? It's particularly interesting that they achieved mainstream recognition in Germany.

porta-polonica.de/en/Atlas-of-remembrance-places/polish-failures-club-club-der-polnischen-versager

Despite its easy-going name the Polish Failures Club has a serious intention. It is dedicated to fiascos, to disappointments, in short to failure. Its members are convinced that failure is an integral part of life.

UK, Ireland / Polish migrants fight to sleep in toilets overnight in London [11]

are you seriously calling a public toilet a home?

They certainly were. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some candles hidden there, and perhaps some air fresheners and even some fairy lights.

did they get deliveries on the address perhaps delphi?

Probably they got the deliveries to work like most of us do.

i understand you are imaginative but for Christ sake be realistic sometimes too

Well, think about it. You can work all day on the building site, drink vodka with your mates in the evening and then settle down for the night. Costs you 1.40 a week for rent, as opposed to a minimum of 150-200 quid a week for a shoebox in London. Quite understandable why they choose to settle down in Le Chateau du Toilette as opposed to Crapston Villas!
