Love / Do you think that Polish should stick to Polish? [128]

Women marry men who can provide money for the family, provide his seed, and who will give her enough room to carry on a social life.

Life / Horribly cold in Krakow at the moment , how do you cope with such temperatures ? [124]

Personally i wear i Russian army Ushanka , this is one of those hats you can pull the flaps down to keep your ears warm , great for these Siberian conditions..

I just bought my uncle one of those, everyone laughed at first but he swears by it now. Can even buy them in Topshop and Next :)

Food / OKOCIM PORTER BETTER THAN GUINNESS STOUT? [43]

Does anyone agree that cold Okocim Porter beats Guinness Stout hands down for refreshing flavour, robustness, body and overall enjoyment, not to mention price?

erm, NO. Though i hate them both in equal measure :D

Law / Polish Cop Took My Car Registration :S [143]

and no even in UK you have to wait in similar cases (though usually its 48 hrs).

All traffic cop cars in the UK are fitted with computers, and radios so they can check your details within 30seconds after the info has been given. They don't even need your license or insurance papers to check, just ur car reg.

UK, Ireland / The Irish, the biggest tax evaders ever [21]

UK, Ireland / The Irish, the biggest tax evaders ever [21]

Since i moved to Ireland from Poland, it seems to me that everybody here has a job, but at the same time they claim benefits ie lie about having jobs in order to feck the system up. Is it unheard of that if most people claim benefits but still work without paying tax, no wonder Ireland is in the position it is in now.

Travel / Fish and Chips in Warsaw [53]

Is it just me, or is the fish always larger in Scotland?

I think the portion sizes are a little bit larger, most of our good stocks of fish are sold to Spain and France, which is a shame cos I think the UK has some of the best sea-food in the world.

Travel / Fish and Chips in Warsaw [53]

Well as you know, us Scot's are quite renowned for our chippy's. Though we have had some shockers, especially in Glasgow. On the east coast you will find the best as most of our fishing fleet are there. Once in Glasgow I came across something called a heart banger. It was a sausage wrapped in kebab meat then deep fried. I tried a bite and felt sick straight after.

On another note I loved when I would visit my grandparents in Manchester, cos it meant I could get a steak and kidney pudding with mushy pea's!

curry or kebab?

Good point ;)

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

Yes---especially when they are smothered in gravy.

Yum yum, I like mine the Italian way, covered with a tomato sauce then baked in the over with cheese on top :P

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

Im just curious to know why on earth people want to eat burgers

Do you like meat-balls? As proper burgers are practically the same thing, give or take a few different spices.

The poor Poles...being subjected to such horrid stuff :D

It surprises me that you are so up for everything British but dislike our national dish :D

I was looking at the idea of a fish and chip shop 4 years ago in Krakow, and again this year with another forum member. But alas didn't get round to it, and the premises we looked at were far too expensive, around 30k a month for around 200m2!!!

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

The Irish Mbassy in Krakow has some ok burgers, but it's also a hit and miss, depends if the South African (forget his name) is working.

I think what I was getting at is that I couldn't find anything that resembled a burger in the supermarkets or local shops. Normally I would just go to McDonalds, but sometimes I just fancied a snack at home.

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

can you post/link a picture that shows what you think is a decent burger?

Can't post a link, I just mean something that actually tastes like a burger and contain some kind of steak or beef.

If I was having a bbq then I would have to go out and buy all the ingredients.

Food / Burgers, why not in Poland? [54]

One thing that I always thought was odd was the lack of a decent burger.
Most shops sold some variations made from reclaimed chicken meat which contained a load of disgusting crap and tasted nothing like a burger.
Is there anywhere in Poland where you can buy a decent burger made from beef?

Australia / Polish Culture in Melbourne, Australia [87]

$7 for 4 pierogi is frankly a rip-off.

Considering what goes into them, thats nothing short of a complete rip off!

Classifieds / Motorcycle trip from Poland to South Africa in the fall [25]

Didn't see that program but I loved the series "A long way round" with Ewan McGregor. He done the African trip too, from John o' Groats to Cape Town. Though in this series it was more put together and planned.
