USA, Canada / US citizenship via US Army [50]

A mercenary fights for money.

All US soldiers are paid a salary including free health benefits while they're in and money for college when they get out.

Polish citizens doing this, fight in return to get US citizenship. That is a business transaction and that makes them mercenaries.
The same goes for the 10.000 Poles in the French Foreign Legion. They also have a business contract with the French government.

News / Grafitti plague in Warsaw [84]

If the human kind doesn't change dramatically, they will even be preserving the graffiti in Warsaw and charging visitors for watching it

What do you think about the hooded creeps who destroy railcars, ruin newly planted flower beds? Arty types? They are the same creeps who attacked a female newsteam outside of Legia. They are cowards.

Or should they be - as I think - chained to Kolumn Zygmunta and flogged live on TV ?

Yes of course. A mercenary fights for money. These guys fight for the US (their choice of course) because they get paid with US citizenship. Where is the difference? Would they do it otherwise as well?

If I am not mistaken Foreign Legion soldiers can get French citizenship after ending their contract. Interesting to note that Poles are the 6th largest contingent in the Foreign Legion.

but then when interest of Poles is at stake you take the side of their opponents.

I take sides against the Świętokrzyśzka Brigade. Although you might have liked them :)

Don't get me wrong - I do get the differnce between art and vandalism, but I also realize that the border between them is not always so distinc as some people would like to see it.

Yes the difference is crystal clear. If you hooded friends spray on any space which is not their own property, that is vandalism and a crime.

It degrades the neighbourhood. It puts YOU in the same league with solvent-sniffers in the train stations, with the creeps which destroy railcars. With the creeps who destroy newly-planted flowers in the city-centre.

In short, it infects everyday civic society.

News / Row over status of Poles in Germany sours relations [176]

The German minority in Poland has lived there forever. The lands occupied by the Red Army and the Polish administration have always been German. The Polish economic immigrants in Germany - that is different story.

The Sorbs are a Slavic minority in Germany since always. Would you categorize the Polish economic immigrants in the Ruhr likewise?
They have the same rights as any other EU citizen in another EU country.
What are you moaning about?

Hitlerism has no future in Europe anymore and the rights of Polish minority need to be brought back. SAY NO TO NAZISM!

You mean as to JK who proclaims Silesian regionalists as being Nazi fifth column?
There is simply nothing to restore. You mean you would designate to the Poles who for example live in Dortmund an autonomous region?
The Sorbs, yes this I can understand, that is an entirely different matter.
But all these Polish economic migrants now claiming special status?

In my native Belgium the Poles organise their own schools (Wednesday afternoon and Saturday). They do not moan like you.

By the way which Hitlerism? The Solidarity 2010 one on KM? The smolenskist one? The Zobrist "crash my laptop" one?

News / Grafitti plague in Warsaw [84]

I was not targeting homes :P just walls of a garrage complex and a wall in public toilet at the railway station :P

Equally criminal. Equally loathsome. What kind of pleasure it gave you to do this?
That is what civic society is about. The common set of values to be respected. This is a concept which no grafitti criminal will understand.

Hooded sprayers should be have their tags branded in their foreheads and flogged on Plac Zamkowy.

taking little freedoms away and calling little provocations a crime

How can you be so deranged that when the hooded criminals who scratched my neighbour's windows with their tags, you call these "little provocations"?

Western civilized society was built on just that: The respect for each other's property, common decency. Common rights. This Banksy hood is just another deranged criminal as all of his "brothers".

By the way, could you publish your home adress here...Sounds as if you you would like your home and car sprayed over as a piece of art

they should stick a can with paint up the ass of each caught culprit.

Completely right - they should make them eat the paint they are spraying
I cannot understand - but perhaps I have a shopkeeper's mind as someone else suggested here - how damaging someone else's property (including public property such as buses and trams) can be acceptable.

It has nothing to do with living in a sterile society. It has to with being decent and respecting other people.
It is not art, it crime. The same as damaging public transport is an equally loathsome crime.

News / Kaczyński wants a people-friendly Poland [64]

The last twist in PIS's madness is that are forming an alliance with football hoodies - interesting interview today in "Rz" with one of their spin morons. Closing the stadions for the grafitti hooligans is according to JK anti-Polish. But the hoody primitives are now shouting everywhere anti-government slogans. That makes them for PIS patriots.

The SMS campaign was brilliantly performed - I remember vivdly on that very evening RadioZET, RFM/FM...all the normal stations... nonstop asking the people (especially the young ones) to go to vote and this until the very last minute. They saved Poland from a fascist tiranny.

It is good there will be a two-day voting period. Lots of normal people are spending the weekends out of the city, they still will have time to vote this way. The smolenkists have to be stopped.

Spoken like a petite bourgeois. You need to change your name Sobieski. Your little shopkeeper's fears degrade a noble name.

Tell this to my neighbour who has every window of his restaurant scratched by a hooded criminal. Tell this to all the worthy people whi see their homes degraded by these criminals. Shopkeeper's fears? What about common decency?

News / Grafitti plague in Warsaw [84]

Grafitti degrades a city. It also gives a feeling (and promotes) of unsafety. It is a blatant disregard for other people's property. And railcars and other public spaces are also (our) property. It is done by pondlife which respects nothing.

In my neighbourhood they not only sprayed the walls of a nice Italian restaurent but also scratched their tags into every window.
That is a blatant crime - their tags should be burned on their foreheads.
Still the question - why do these criminals do not spray church walls?

zw.com.pl/artykul/596209_Swieza-sciana-i-juz-bazgrol.html

Interesting article in ZW this morning. There is really a lot of graffiti in the city, practically every building is sprayed. I do not understand what drives the imbeciles who do that. For example the newly renovated platforms at Dworzec Gdański were sprayed within a few days They should put them with their head in a can of paint and parade them on an oxcart through the city. Each time I go home to my native Antwerp I really see the contrast. Warsaw is literally sprayed over.

One thing is curious though - I cannot remember any church wall with graffiti - I wonder why...

what do you expect of a PO+SLD run local government?

The only thing the duck was doing in Warsaw was the uprising museum and then turning into a propaganda statement.

There will be secon subway line partialy completed for Euro 2012 guests

No it will not be. Building permission has only now be granted for the drilling, and for only 3 of the 6 stations.

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

I don't give a flying feck about Jaro Kaczynski - for me PiS is just a different variant of the same

Yes you do. You are one of these genuine Dmowskite fascists who gave Poland a bad name since 1919.
PO won the elections you churl. They will win the next one as well. You represent the Poland of Agent Tomek, of PIS dwarfs destroying their laptops. You represent the idiots of Licheń and Radio Marija.

News / The best Poland ever? [125]

the self-worshipping, half-witted
moral dwarves and traitors who currently rule Poland.

As compared to the dwarf who is now dominating Wawel and the second dwarf who recently discovered how to shop in a discounter - probably shopped for groceries first time in his life - and at the same time to humiliate his entire electorate?

UK, Ireland / Holding a British passport. Married a Polish woman. Applying for Polish passport? [21]

There is one weird thing however in the whole procedure...My friend had to hand over his original (foreign) birth certificate and got issued with another (Polish) one...

Still I do not understand the motivation of the OP to go through all these troubles. I simply do not see any incentive for a EU citizen to become Polish? Or do I miss something here, apart from voting restrictions?

Life / Buying New Tyres for your car in Poland [9]

I have on my car Dębica. I have nothing to complain about. Not as flashy as Pirelli that is for sure. But for use in Polish conditions I think you can buy worse "made in ROC" tyres.

Life / Buying New Tyres for your car in Poland [9]

I needed a new set of summer tyres for my old Nissan, and bought them through my warsztat (not an official dealer). Pan Andrzej is already servicing my old "tractor" many years. I think I paid compared to opony.pl 120 PLN more, but he stores my winter tyres (hard to do that in a flat), and price was included montaż and calibrating. That costs also.

But yes, I also heard from other people it is a very good website.

News / Poland's Lost Generation [172]

Romantic ideals of Poland as a "Christ of nations" and history of national suffering under Russian oppression is being forgotten.

Good they forget this. It is time that all these sentimental memories will be just that. Memories. "Christ of nations". The arrogance seeping from that Radio Marija language.

Travel / Why are some Taxis in Warsaw so smelly? [16]

I am always taking MPT - no complaints there :).
But if only the drivers would not hang on their mirrors these "smelling christmas trees"...They actually give a weird kind of bathroom desinfectant smell :)
