Life / Should I expect racism as a 'black' woman in Poland [149]

" 'white power' (written in English!)"

That's probably there because an English bigot like you wrote it .

You can find racists graffiti in any big city in Europe, I have yet to see any in my village.

I see black visitors here from time to time, yes it is a novelty for some to see someone with a different skin color, but never a green flag for racism.

Poland does not suffer the guilt of colonialism and slavery that some other Europeans do , so don't listen to those non Polish here who try and demonize the polish people as racists, Just look at how many racist terms there are in the the English language, then compare that to the Polish language .,

"Does everyone have to favor the same shaven-headed sectors of society that you're trying to defend?"

So you are bigoted when you compare shaven headed sectors to villagers that go to church, I will defend my right to church and village , where did i ever say that I defend a shaven headed Nazi, my father killed plenty, my grandfather killed plenty of Bolsheviks , what are you?, a polish hating soviet.

Ah well you have pulled me into one of your traps, but I don't care, its about time i got my first warning.

Jon "shaven-headed blokersy and churchgoing villagers "

Sad to see that you are just a racist bigot, what is wrong in living in a village or going to church , why connect this to a right wing stereotype.

What is wrong with you being gay,? nothing in my mind, but i live in a village and go to church, why are you going out of your way to put down people you know nothing about, you of all people should know better.

Just carry on , no wonder you get so much stick on this forum, wake up and start treating people who may be different to you with respect and as equals,.

Study / Turkish guy to study at a university in Poland. Is that problem for Polish people? [139]

"i believe you are syrian.escape from syria (coward)."

Looks as if you have issues with Syrians, which has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

Have you anymore questions relating to ' study at a university in Poland" that we can help you with?, or should we consider the thread closed?

Study / Turkish guy to study at a university in Poland. Is that problem for Polish people? [139]

No worries mafketis I am just glad this guy is a troll and not a real Turkish guy, take a look at his first post where he claims to be a reader of RMF 24.

All highly unlikely as he is not Polish reader, would have been more credible if he had quoted a Turkish or English source, also his use of punctuation belies his attempts to write in broken English.

Study / Turkish guy to study at a university in Poland. Is that problem for Polish people? [139]

So to sum up, Turkish students, visitors are very welcome in Poland, Turkey is a nice country (I have visited it a few times) and the Turkish people are friendly and welcoming.

lixt1 Maybe spending sometime in Poland will calm you down , there is no need to be on the defensive, as a Turkish guy there nothing for you to be afraid of here.

Thanks Atch, (Sadly Too wet for gardening it has been raining for two days now.)

It sounds like the guy is almost preparing to fail, or is here start some argument, but as a Pole living in Poland I will answer the title of this thread from my own personal experience.

There are many Turkish students and families living in Poland very successfully, we have a Turkish family in our small rural village, we talk the kids go to the local primary school, everyone waves when they drive down the road in the car, I have never heard anyone say a bad word about them, they are treated the same as any other Polish neighbor.

In the main town we have a few Turkish people running successful businesses full of Polish customers.

I was in Wroclaw (University town) at the weekend there were students and tourists from all over the world eating and drinking and walking until the late hours, everyone seemed to get on having a good time.

"Whatsoever things are lovely, think on these",
I do everyday when I wake up in Poland and think how luck I am.

lixt1 "keep eating sh.t"

I think you are a very rude, I do not believe that you are Turkish or if you are you sound like a football hooligan who is embarrassing his country, Don't worry too much we also have a minority random lunatics in Poland too.

"Poland is after some territorial gains "

I don't think so , Poland has plenty of land but too few people, with more migrating abroad each day, if anything Poland needs more Ukrainian migrants.

News / Good-change government raising minimum wage in Poland, cutting SB pensions [213]

"thread about this rubbish already"

Why is the posting rubbish, it is very poignant topic, those "(SB) agents " were being rewarded for oppressing and enslaving the Polish people for decades, they are very fortunate that they get anything at all, and lucky they are not investigated and serving long prison sentences for crimes they may have committed against the Polish people.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

EU might demand Scotland join Schengen,

Now that will be a good idea, a proper fenced guarded border checking every vehicle that passes through, won't be long before most business in Scotland move back to the UK, probably a good idea for Scotland to invest more in its own ferry and container ports to maintain a smooth link to Europe.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

"why UK should get preferential treatment. Simple as that. And it's not as simple as import/export".

What else is important, I can only think of the financial sector, but world banks are wary of moving to Europe because of their fragile indebtedness,(see my last post), the last thing a bank would want to do is move to Europe and be forced to bail out Italian , Greek and German banks, this would happen, the Eurocrats would pass a law to do it to save their skins, (They would call it a banking tax)

I can't really see anything else that is important to negotiate.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

Britain imports more goods from the EU than the EU exports to the UK the difference is 70 billion pounds .

The EU will have to think long and hard before it imposes punitive tariffs against the UK , Two can play that game and the biggest loser in this would be Germany, the deficit with Britain is 27 billion pounds sterling,

" I'm Polish but I live in England so I can't relate to or understand the racial views of other Polish people" , then you have not seen the change that has happened in recent years things have moved forward in a positive direction Poland has become more European and tolerant, things are certainly moving in the right direction.

If you live in Surrey Dover is the best bet.

Hook of Holland ferry port to Zgorzelec takes about 8.5 hours normal UK driving speeds but on the Autobahn you can go as fast as you wish on the unrestricted sections , I set the cruise control to about 120mph t(traffic permitting) this can shorten the journey time quite a bit, only problem is that I go from 20 mpg to about 12mpg, but be very careful to stick to the speed limits when required to do so, the German police are very hot on speeding.

UK, Ireland / Transfer Money from UK to Poland [36]

Jon you are right about the sterling sub account I forgot to mention it,

It was simple to setup and the online banking is good, we usually move the sterling from the uk to the polish sterling account the wait for a good exchange rate, as and when we see a good deal we go down to he bank and they phone for a spot rate which is always better than what they show on the wall , and is highly competitive against the kantor.

History / 60th anniversary of the Poznan uprising! [60]

"remember that Poland is extending you our hospitality - why haven't you ever applied for citizenship? "

That's crazy being Polish has nothing to do with citizenship, in Poland Pol would only be confirming his citizenship to get a piece of plastic.

If anything Poland only extends its hospitality to migrants who have achieved a certain set of criteria to become citizens, no way does that make them of Polish origin.

I only confirmed my citizenship to cover the bureaucracy required to buy a house and live here, under Polish law I have always been Polish.

News / Anti-Corruption Bureau investigates Warsaw city hall [69]

" commandeered by a back-bench MP for a purely personal journey."

What the big deal not as if Poland has a royal family to keep in helicopters, the poor guy probably had a bad day at the Sejm and was late for a family barbecue, the Police would have diverted (With him on board) if there was an emergency , and the pilots do need to keep their flying hours up , especially night ratings.

Hardly watergate or bankstergate is it.
