UK, Ireland / Female health in Britain - Polish view [105]

anglophones as sign of deep hatred?

No hatred here. Many things I don't like about the UK too. But comparing the Health Care system in the UK to the one in Poland is like comparing Ghandi to a homeless mis-guided tramp.

If you like I could give you a huge list of differences when it comes to the actual health care practice? But alas I don't, secondly most of what you are saying are lies. But instead of shooting you down, i'm quite happy to let you keep being bitter ;)

I'm living in another EU country for a while.

Are you paying tax? Are you working? Are you using the "free" health care over here?

(Like they suck out everyone else. Poland trains people and pays for the education, and then Britain sends their recruitment fairs here and steals our educated people. And if only they've given them proper jobs, but no. They take educated people to underpay them, while calling us job stealers!)

That's just bol1ox and you know it. If Poland paid their Nurses a fair wage compared to the rest of Europe then they wouldn't need to go on strike all the time or head further ashore for a decent job that pays them a FAIR wage. It would be highly illegal for any hospital to pay a British nurse more than any other nurse from a foreign country and vice versa.

And may I add that would also include private hospitals and care homes.

Ah yes, but I thought she was referring to Engerland.

Stupid question from the audience, why is there an age limit?

Basically because not enough research has been done to prove that it is too difficult to detect problems in age groups under 25 because the cervex is still changing. The rest of the UK, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are waiting on further research before they make ammendments. England has chosen to stay at 25-65(If I remember right) as they are sticking to their origanal research on the fact it's largely impossible to detect cervical cancer before the age of 25.

Life / HOW DO I PUT CREDIT ON MY POLISH MOBILE? [20]

Once again ( I think you have been eating too many beans) on the reciept it will have a number to dial to call up. Wait to the end of the Polish automated voice to stop talking and it should ask you if you speak English. Then follow instructions.

Not really, In June 2009 the Advisory Committee on Cervical Screening reviewed the policy of starting screening at age 25 and agreed unanimously there should be no change in the current policy.

cancerscreening.nhs.uk/cervical/

Although If the patient experiences bleeding or bleeding after sex, they should consult their doctor. Checking for Cervical Cancer is very difficult before the age of 25 because changes in the Cervex are normal.

Life / First hand experiences of the Mafia in Poland [28]

A lot of chat gets made about it. Mostly by bar owners who don't want the competition. Best guy to talk to is Tom, he owns Nic Nowego, he's honest enough....most of the time;)

such as Justus, on the market square

I used this company for my flat in Wielicka. 50pln per month and they always came out to do "tours" of the grounds.

It's partially this obsession with specialists that causes the NFZ to struggle - they would go a *long* way by requiring GP's to do their jobs properly. It's even normal here for GP's to simply refer you straight away to a specialist rather than trying to at least try a diagnosis themselves.

It's called lazy healthcare. Being paid to do as little as you can and to pass the buck. Something I've had first hand experience with in Poland. The amount of times people get shunted from one place to another is unbelievable. Last time I had to basically diagnose myself just to get an x-ray to pop my own jaw back into place! All because the right specialist wasn't working on that day. Crazy in my opinion.

Travel / Coming to Poland with a pet :) [47]

Cos it's Easter time and dog is on the menu? ;)

Seriously, I hate people who believe they can do this. I've always kept German Shepards untill now as I have a Boxer Lab cross. Last dog I had a trucker pulled up outside the house and took my dog from the garden. Luckily the neighbour took down the trucks details and we got her back, but the bare-faced cheek of it!!!

Travel / Moving To Krakow, looking for hidden gems [25]

had heard some good things about Podgorze.

I lived in the area for over a year, great wee hidden gems, brilliant transport links and not as much hassle as living in the center, a lot quieter.

Nowa Huta was the first place I lived when I moved to Poland. The stories are a bit over the top though. My ex hated it when I would go outside at night but nothing ever happened. Even the local hooligans standing outside the 24hr alcohol kiosks were friendly enough if you had a beer with them. Some of the nicest friends I made in Poland were from Huta. Hutnik FC were rubbish though:D

Vladi: Why some travelers hate Poland?

I don't think it depends on the country, or Poland itself. But more to do with the experience the person has while being there.

Love / How could I change her opinion about me? [60]

the lass should recognize him for what he has done, shouldn't she?

Not really, if the lass isn't that interested, nothing the guy will do will impress her. Sounds like you had a fling and got in too deep. Just get out.

Life / Polish TV licence (abonament) - almost no-one I know pays [36]

Dont count on it, its a nice little money earner they're not about to get rid of any time soon, TV advertising isnt as lucrative as it used to be since the internet became so popular.

Well it will certainly seem pointless that now ( i think) that the law has changed in the EU and you can access British TV throughout the EU.

its just one less pair of shoes!

Oh NO!!!! not the extra pair of shoes! :) I have the picture of the new Specsavers advert, you walking around Manchester being followed by a pair of Gucci shoes, thinking "If only I didn't pay my TV licence" :D

Life / Polish TV licence (abonament) - almost no-one I know pays [36]

That's what I did, gave them a Polish name and an address of a house that had now been demolished, 2 seconds later they checked the records and gave me a form to fill as database didn't have me down as owning a licence. This new system is basically set up to suck the last of the cash out of licence payers as they know that the licence will cease to exist for much longer.

Snap! And now when you buy a TV you must buy a TV licence with it. I was astonished when I bought a new tele for my cousins Christmas only to be asked my address and I.D for them to check if I had a TV licence already bought. Pure cheek of it!

Hopefully over the next few years the whole idea of needing a TV licence will be left in the past. In the UK it's really strange how the government pushes the idea of every house contain broadband, while they still make us pay for television. Lining the pockets of the BBC and making a little bit more tax for the gov top waste.

This is the modern world, the TV licence should be left back in the 20th century.
