News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

but neither do females

Other people's bad behavior are no excuse for your own. If the women you pursue just try to cadge drinks and money recognize that you have bad judgement and figure out why you're chasing women with such low moral characters. Descending to their level won't do you any good.

Therapy, you need it desperately.

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

d for some weird reason think I am sick for wanting a 15 or 16 yr old

Age appropriate depends on your age. AOC laws are a messy legal workaround to the problem of individual development - some people can deal with sex relatively soon after puberty others are nowhere near read even a couple of years after. Always err on the side of caution - don't look for partners under the age of 18. When you hit the age of 22 or so you can apply the old 'half your age + 7' rule. so that when you're 25 your lower age limit should be 19, when you're 30 it should be about 22 etc....

why arent you or society or media even mentioning polanskis sex life

He is a sick and broken individual with abnormal predatory instincts toward young women (possibly caused by the trauma of his wife's murder). When he's dead I won't mourn him (beyond probably wishing his demise had been more painful). He is not anyone a mentally or morally healthy person should use to justify their own broken status.

You're the problem, only you can fix the problem. Therapy and the possiblity of a happier non-broken existence is behind door number one and prison and/or untimely death is behind number two.... the choice is up to you and you alone.

i wouldnt have to be miserable or try hard anymore

Au contraire, fulfilling your abnormal ideas would just make you more miserable than ever. No such thing as a happy addict or happy obsessive.

saying that you and the people here are trying to help me yet

I cannot help you. Only can help you by realizing there is something wrong you with you and seeking appropriate help (professional therapist). The desire for age inappropriate sexual partners is not your problem it's a _symptom_ of your problem which were probably caused by abuse and or trauma inflicted by caregivers when you were a child (just a wild guess a therapist can help you get to the bottom of it).

Get therapy or find yourself in prison and/or an early grave.

You dont understand what it is like. How else would I not be broken?

Let's get one thing you have the cause and effect reversed. You are NOT broken because you can't have sex with children.

Rather the fact that want to have sex with children and are obsessed with that idea (as well as being obsessed with petty gangsters and soccer low life hooligans and homeless street bums) are all evidence that you are broken.

To paraphrase from Bojack Horseman... You can't keep doing this. You can't keep doing ****** things, and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it okay. You NEED to be better! YOU are all the things that are wrong with you. It's not sexual rejection or any of the ****** things that happened to you. It's YOU.

Get. Therapy. People on this board can't get to the bottom of when you started to go off the rails or help you figure out how to heal yourself. That's a job for professionals.

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

In Austria they have an even scarier tradition with Krampus....is there anything like that in Poland?

there used to be, nothing like the current Austrian terror, but there is the old village traditions of kolędowanie and herody which include devil figures...

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

We were told we would get a rozga

Maybe switch? (old translation) in the US it was a lump of coal...

What's the point of introducing it in Poland?

Exactly! none! It's a great American holiday, bu there's no need for Poland (or anywhere in Europe) to celebrate it.

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

The American festival of English Puritans giving thanks and celebrating with a big meal though, IS distinctively American

No. It was an old English custom (occasionally in the case of good harvests not annualy). Early in US history the celts (Scots and Irish) were decidedly not on board with the idea. Even after it became a federal holiday it wasn't universally celebrated. That took many, many years.

Life / Moving to Krakow next year, 5000 zloty net. [48]

that is because they are men who have been spoilt

My anecdotal evidence is that British men in Poland are among the most pathetic and useless creatures on the planet.... I blame that on British women spoiling them (they don't get that way without a mother or mother figure ruining them for polite company).

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

Thanksgiving is wholly an Amerkin thing, no idea why we would do this in Europe..

THANK YOU! I love thanksgiving but it's a holiday that absolutely does not need to be sold to Europe.

Would you take your small children out for this?

Christmas used to be a loud rowdy dangerous holiday the whole idea of it as quiet time with family was the upper classes trying to keep the lower classes in check.

Mikołaj these days looks more like Coca Cola Santa Claus

I'm prepared to defend American Santa Claus (not created by Coca Cola that's Americanophobic propaganda) but again I see no reason for Poland to adopt him any more than Poland should have adopted djad mroz...

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

the traditional Polish 31st oct?

Nothing. The holiday is November 1 and to a muuuucccchhhh lesser extent November 2. October 31 doesn't enter into the Polish system at all.

November 1 All saints day (though celebrated like all souls day)
November 2 All souls day (barely observed)

It used to be
October 31 - eve of all saints/souls day
November 1 - all souls/saints day

Poland dumped the first because it's fun and Poles think holidays have to be dreary and religious, Americans dumped the second because the British already had

spending my moms my ney going to bars

spend some of that money on a therapist. work on yourself and become a better version of yourself that people aren't repelled by. your problems are all of your own making, a therapist can help you figure out how to stop your current self-destructive behaviors (I'm completely serious)

Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

As an American I lurve Thanksgiving and miss it here (the only American holiday I really miss). But...... no, I perceive no need for its adoption here.

The point of Turkey, potatoes, cranberries, sweet potatoes and pumpkin are celebrating New World food items, what would be the point of a Polish holiday about that?

Law / I can change my last name to my father's second????? [3]

two surnames, the first one is the father's and the second is the mother's, is it possible thatCan I change my last name to my father's second, that is, the first one of my paternal grandmother?

My wild guess (consult a lawyer) is that if the name is somewhere on your passport you could convince them that that's the name that should appear in your Polish passport.

Otherwise, you'll need to go through the process in Spain (however that works).

Prsumably, the Polish idea would be that the very last name in your Spanish passport or on your national ID should be your 'nazwisko' in a Polish passport so you might need to get that squared with Spain before getting Polish documents (or change your name in Poland after you receive citizenship)

Life / Why are Muslims seen as a deterrent to Poland? [564]

clever people generally don't want to make themselves a few thousand pounds poorer or have less opportunities.

They also tend to not care what happens at street level to their less advantaged countrymen as long as they can keep those pounds and opportunities rolling in for themselves.

Travel / Białowieża National Park in Poland [461]

We'll know within two weeks anyway if not before.

That's already in December which IINM is not excactly peak logging season.... (unless you own a christmas tree farm).

Again, the European insitutions move with the speed of freezing molasses so even if they do stop briefly in the winter they'll make the case that the sanctions no longer apply once they start up again and European institutions will once more move evere so slooooooooooowwwwwllllly into the breach...

ethnic male Frenchman or German from a working-class background and schooling up through high school who feels overwhelmed by multiculturalism

Or perhaps a person who simply thinks (based on experience and observation) that multiculturalism doesn't work and is upset that the elite (who have no direct contact with the consequences of multiculturalism) haven't figured that out or simply don't care that it doesn' work.

Study / Study in Poland without English IELTS? [28]

Do they focus so much on speaking correct English that they lose their charisma?

Partly it's that and I think it's party that the English taught in most European countries is dated and artificial and really boring to native speakers (this is always true of the language of foreign language classrooms but no one's trying to deliver university lectures at present in second-language Spanish or German or French...)

And some lecturers who are interesting in their own languages are painful to listen to in a second language (theoretically the inverse might be true but I don't know of any examples).

Study / Study in Poland without English IELTS? [28]

Some lecturers teaching in English can barely speak it, others speak it well

I've heard some Polish lecturers who speak face to face English very well but are boring and hard to follow when they _lecture_ in English (while they're fine in Polish).

Speaking and lecturing in a language can be two separate skills that don't go together.

News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

And if you believe that, there's a large building for sale close to Warszawa Centralna, they call it the Palace of Culture.... they're desperate to sell and I have exclusive rights to mediate between the city and a buyer, whaddya say???? for not much money you could own a Palace! of Culture!

This resolution and atmosphere around it makes it harder for the Polish diplomacy to get results that are good for the Polish national interest.

And the fact that it exists at all is due to the actions of PiS which makes Poland look, internationally, like a country that cannot be counted on to keep its word. Polish politicians voting against the PiS r4pe of the justice system increases Polish credibility rather than making look like a crummy commie country that does anything the leader of the party wants.

I would never have voted to suspends Poland's voting rights

You don't want Poland in the EU or EP at all, why be upset about something that might hasten that process.

weakens the entire country

Then blame those who exposed Poland to that danger... PiS!

In what way do you feel the EU is headed in the wrong direction Maf?

too much integration! easing the movement of people and economic transactions is fine to a point and then you hit the point of diminishing returns (the more effort you poor in the worse the results).

europe is simply too diverse for anything but the most basic type of political union, economic union is a proven failure because you can't have a currency that simultaneously works for production-based, banking-based and service-based economies. Turn Greece into an international banking hub, industrial powerbase or be resigned to its permanent impoverishment.

past a certain point, political and economic union requires that more and more regional differences be obliterated and I don't want that.

On the home front the idea of demolishing the Palace of Culture in Warsaw caught the headlines in social media, the press and on TV

Thats just the latest PiS distraction (along with reparations and/or abortion).

I don't think there's anything like a groundswell of opinion (or majority) in favor of demolishing it either within Warsaw or the country as a whole.

Never mind the bullocks, it's just the political equivalent of click bait.

t PIS likes the idea of 'a' European Union but not 'the' actual European Union

That's me, I think the idea is great on paper and at times has worked well but has been headed in the wrong direction for a long time which is why it's losing support.

What PiS likes is the idea of foreigners pumping condition-free money into Poland, which is why they keep bringing up reparations.... they're proudful beggars, a very unsightly combination.
