Love / Which is better option? Any Indian - Polish couple experience [20]

I know one married pair. The lived in Dubai for some time, but she had enough of the country, where women are citizens of different category. Now they temporary live in Poland, but she cannot afford to pay for husband from her low income polish salary and he cannot get good job, because doesn't speak Polish. I think people would discriminate Indians in Poland, so you wouldn't feel comfortable here.

USA, Canada / Living 16+ years in the US. Is moving back to Poland a good idea? [14]

As far as teaching in regular Polish schools, don't bother, the pay is crap.

Crap in big cities, but in small towns it's usually place where women can earn the most.

And to teach in American School in Poland I think that her papers must be also recognized.

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

Ask for 50% of what you are earning in UK. Tell them that it is 50% and see reaction. I think in very specialized positions in banking in Warsaw anything between 10 000 and 20 000 PLN gross per month is possible.

According to:
tiny.cc/hays-report
"Kontroler Finansowy" earns in Woj. Mazowieckie (Warsaw) median 13 000 min: 10 000 max: 16 000
Look Column "Woj. Mazowieckie", 6th page

Renting cost in Warsaw:
35-50 m2: - 2196 zł
50-75 m2: - 2676 zł

So with such salary you could live comfortable.

and:

10 000 gross = 7034,39 net
13 000 gross = 9125,11 net

Your teaching papers probably wouldn't be recognized here. You would have to do some nostrification, which in many cases is impossible. And still I doubt it to be worth doing, because currently demographic causes less and less children at schools. Teachers are fired, many frustrated graduates of teaching have no chance to work in their profession.

As a native English speaker probably you could teach English, but as people write here competition in this profession is also quite big. But In my opinion if you do certificates/courses for English teacher advertised on this forum and get some teaching experience, by working for low paying schools, then you have chance of getting into better payed level as you have big advantage over many native speakers - you know Polish.

You can also try your chances in business as multilingual secretary etc. Check this recent topic:

News / Where would you have a higher purchasing in Poland or in Germany? [6]

Rent prices in Augsburg are between 5,80 and 7,60 Euro per m2

or 8.8eur according to: miet-check.de/mietspiegel_Augsburg.php

Buying price is around 2000 per m2

In Kraków buying is around 1400 per m2:

The analysis shows that in April, the average transaction price of housing used in Poland in Krakow increased by 5 percent . to March. to 5769 zł . In Lodz and Warsaw were respectively : 3449 zł (an increase of 2.9 percent . ) And 7215 zł (an increase of 2.8 percent . ) .

According to the report, the largest decreases in transaction prices recorded in Gdynia and Wroclaw . There's a square meter paid 4837 and 4828 zł zł , a decrease in housing prices in these cities by 5 percent . and 3.8 percent .

" With the April report shows that Poles are buying more and more flat. For example, in Krakow average yardage purchased flat is about 60 square meters, or 7 feet higher than a year earlier," - he stressed Jańczuk . ( PAP )

In Kraków rent is 7.1 eur per m2

bankier.pl/wiadomosc/Wynajem-mieszkan-nawet-o-20-tanszy-niz-rok-temu-2748138.html

To conclude in Augsburg you can save much more than in Krakow, because rents are nearly the same and your salary is nearly double there. Food prices in discounters except of fruits, vegetables, good breads and good sausages are the same in Germany as in Poland. I would that prices to go out and eat in the city, or going to pub to be double to this in Kraków.

An Nubmeo.com has too little data about Augsburg

But according to this website: wohnungsboerse.net/immobilienpreise-Augsburg/1231

Average buying price is 2.719,72€/m²
( closer to 2000eur for studio)

Because you can save bigger chunk of your salary in Augsburg, it should be easier to buy apartment there, but the price is double of that in Kraków, so it won't be much easier. Except if you will be interested in small studio. And that's in perfect world. If you know Kraków better you may be able to rent there for below average price, and if you come to Augsburg as a foreigner you may be forced to pay above average rent. The same about shopping, but in long term Augsburg's purchasing power should be bigger. (provided that salaries in Kraków will not increase)

Work / Female Juris Doctor/Native American Speaker/Jobs in Warsaw [59]

@ajlawju: Are you posting for the first time on a internet forum, that you're surprised by criticism? If you're asking for help/advise then don't start arguments with people giving you some input. Weather you would like it or not. What Harry and Delphiandomine are trying to tell you is that high qualification are worth in Poland less than in the west and not necessarily can give you pass to the teaching profession. Here 50% of people 25 - 35 have high school diploma, many of them graduated few faculties, great majority has master and not so little PhD and still many layers here is unemployed or work for funny money.

I can add that getting job in university is probably harder than in industry, because in Poland PhD from Poland will be valued more than from abroad, and even more are valued connections. Number of young people starting studies drops and number of unemployed PhD of law increases. + probably your American PhD would require some impossible nostrification.

But of course you should try your chances.

Work / Moving to Lodz - will my 2500 PLN salary be enough? [52]

But the average for Poland, which you quoted is gross and his salary is net. proper comparison would be 3500 (Poland gross 2013) vs 4100 (DedeBR gross). But it's worth to relate it with average Warsaw salary which is 6000 gross this year.

Work / Moving to Lodz - will my 2500 PLN salary be enough? [52]

10 000 per year is 833 per month + 2087 net basic salary = 2,920 net = 4100 gross
And according to Hayes report median gross salary for the accountant in poorest reviewed Voivodeships in Śląskie and Pomorskie equals to 3500 and 4000 respectively:
in hays.pl/prd_consump/groups/hays_common/documents/digitalasset/hays_465124.pdf (page 7)
Independent accountant is 5500.

They don't write anything about £ódzkie Voivodeship, but it should be very similar amount i think.

And you apply for senior position with Dutch language, so I think that you can easily demand 1000 more including this bonus.

Work / Moving to Lodz - will my 2500 PLN salary be enough? [52]

They're planning to give you back 2500zl for the first quarter of every year you rent?

oh, I missed that. Ask them for at least 1000net more then if you're ok with living in studio (average price of 35 - 50 m2 in £ódź is 1188pln)

You could also accept this offer If you're working for charity and money are not the most important.

Work / Moving to Lodz - will my 2500 PLN salary be enough? [52]

If your company will pay for the flat, then you will have comfortable live with 2900PLN Gross. For 2500 you can rent cool flat in £odź, as it's one of the cheapest big cities in Poland. See here:

gumtree.pl/fp-domy-i-mieszkania-do-wynajecia/lodzkie/c9008l3200004

2900 gross is 2087 net according to kalkulatorbruttonetto.pl

With this salary you can afford to eat and drink in the city, because Bar Mleczny prices start from 3eur per lunch and beer prices starts from 1.2eur in pubs :) No luxuries here though. What you'll probably not afford is to save and travel abroad.

Life / Why is Orange Poland such a crappy / expensive network? [53]

But in the same time builds its own network. When it has access to it's own network then use it, otherwise switches to Plus. So it's not virtual operator. It's one of 4 real operators with own infrastructure.

News / Where would you have a higher purchasing in Poland or in Germany? [6]

You're quite correct, but flat costs varies more. In Poland it's from 150eur (in small town) up to 500 EUR in Warsaw for 2 rooms apartment, while in Germany from 300eur in small town, 500eur in Berlin up to 1000eur in Munich.

In Germany you can travel more on your salary, because benzine price, plane tickets, and hotels abroad cost the same for somebody who earns in Poland and Germany.

In Germany you can save nominally more and with your saving you can buy flat/house in Spain or Poland easier, but when you talk about buying flat in Germany, then you have also cheap options like Dresden, Berlin, where flat prices are comparable to Warsaw prices ( not 3 x higher ).

So to sum up you should be speaking about specific cities, provided that you want to spend your whole live only there, because 2000net in Munich is much less than 2000net in Dresden.
