Law / Street lighting and safety - what the law is in Poland? [8]

Suffer the poor children.......... It is a disgrace and seems to be common practice every Sunday at non peak times.
Tell children and speeding drivers that.......

Here in the UK all the roads are perfectly lit where ever I drive.

So let me get this right. you are saying this is OK, and OK because it doesn't concern you, but yet you are a parent? Shocking. {blink}

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

Thank you Wulkan. I take that as a compliment. I have paid into Poland for 23 years and don't feel any entitlement, but just want to get on with living, while not being stared at:)))

News / Poland's election winning party: PIS proclamations [229]

you don't understand democracy.

That's good, coming from a Pole. We in Britain have had democracy for over 300 years. You kept ******* up when allowed to choose your own destiny.

And again.

Well MODS - if he is going to give a lesson in democracy I will be controversial. Fair?

Grzegorz, I know plenty of Poles who:

1: Are either going to vote with their feet and take their business out of Poland
2: Or; like myself, who can't run at the moment - are going to actively fight this ridiculous apology for a government every single step of the way.

Have you got that? :))))))))))))

Posts 27 and 28 are skipping the point. You Poles have been called up for staring, which in today's world is socially unacceptable, and you think it's a joke.

I simply stated that when I was in my 20s I would have reacted angrily to such rudeness but am (almost) immune to it now and just stare back.

The ignorant side of Poland.

some don't care about manners, that's why.

So make your mind up. First you suggest it's OK, then you admit some don't care.

So being anti-social is to be admired is it?

Polish they stare even if you are white

Staring is bloody rude and ignorant, and when I was a young man that would have got a rapid response, I'll guarantee you that.

Law / Street lighting and safety - what the law is in Poland? [8]

Look Wulkan - either help in answering a serious question or go back under the rock you crawled out under from.
What is your problem anyway? Just two minutes after posting, and I get the usual idiotic response from you, bang on cue.

Law / Street lighting and safety - what the law is in Poland? [8]

Can anyone tell me what the law is in Poland on street lighting? Every Sunday night the lights on the (busy) roads in my neighbourhood city centre area are switched on at about 16.30, 45 minutes after dusk.... when it's already pitch black.

It's a matter of some concern to me, but I know from experience that if I comment on it to a fellow resident they will stare at me with incomprehension and say "What's your problem?"

It's the old Polish story - only after there is a tragedy will be there be a gnashing of teeth and wailing.

No street lights on a city centre area in pitch darkness............Is this legal? Surely not:(

Food / Types of CHEESE in Poland [150]

Lived here for 23 years and I've learnt that Poland doesn't do cheese. Disgusting muck. Of course, after a few drinks one can pretend and say "Niezly............"

News / Poland's political party to ban pornography? [60]

what's the problem ?

Yes, what is the problem? I don't like stupid American TV shows, such as Game of Thrones, but the TV stations which I am going to be forced to subsidise buy them. Because that's obviously part of the entertainment culture. Now can I kindly suggest you get off your high horse and let the rest of us get on with our intellectual freedom.

Thanks.

News / Polish Minister of Agriculture stops foreign land-grab in Poland [24]

illegally buying up the farmland

So? I was making the point that agricultural land is rountinely changed to "recreational land" and onto "building or development land" at the blink of an eye, or at least was in the past.

Where's the beef? So foreign concerns bought agricultural land? All those land deals are illegal, but not when Poles are doing the deals? I smell another bout of rabid (and amusing) xenophobia here:)

News / Polish Minister of Agriculture stops foreign land-grab in Poland [24]

off-topic

What? Moi? The minister is ******** about Poland land use and foreign involvement (What he calls speculation and others might simply see as investment). There was the suggestion that this harms agricultural policy and is land grabbing.

I was pointing out that Poles can do plenty of damage when left to their own devices, and the ministers' priorities would be better served on chasing all the illegal builders who gave backhanders to local government, and pulling their houses down.

Then there would be more agricultural land again. Problem solved!

News / Polish Minister of Agriculture stops foreign land-grab in Poland [24]

restricted to protect the country' shrinking natural habitats.

Cough cough - remember the Rospuda valley, an SSI, and what Kaczynski said about that? Or should we remind PIS voters? He said the equivalent of "It's wetland and what is the fuss? Poland has plenty of it...."

And now PIS are going to give us a lecture on the environment. Have they been to college in these last 9 years? All well and good, but Polish history tells us that basically money will out.

And the urban sprawl

It's not urban sprawl. It's worse. It's extension of villages in what once were semi-remote areas, all along the escarpments. Everywhere. Too late. The countryside of southern Poland is ruined. Kaput. You couldn't make it up, and all Poles should be held accountable.

News / Polish Minister of Agriculture stops foreign land-grab in Poland [24]

Some 200,000 hectares of Polish agrticultural land has been sold to foreign speculators

Have you been to Poland recently Polonius. You don't have a clue.

The Beskidy and that upland area south and east of Krakow have been raped by indiscriminate housing. And if the price is right, you can build where the **** you want.

Guaranteed.

Who ruined the Polish countryside? Foreigners? Do us a favour. {Dougpol bursts sides laughing that you could be so stupid as to believe the ministers' xenophobic hyperbole}

News / Poland's political party to ban pornography? [60]

It is even shown on late-night TV

"Late night" being the word....

And anyway, (sadly) teenagers of 14 knew full well what Chatroulette was at least 5 years ago. A little soft pron Game of Thrones style should be right down your alley - so to speak:)

News / Poland's election winning party: PIS proclamations [229]

I have just been watching some of Donald Trumps' speeches in the last week in America. This explains a lot about the views of some of our resident PIS voters on this board.

The only difference between Trump and Kaczynski seems to be 10 billion dollars.........
Who copied who? Both are witless public speakers, that is a fact.

News / Poland to be Booted from Schengen - a Border Security Issue or Tusk's Revenge on Polish Voters for PO Defeat? [36]

I've crossed countless non-Schengen borders illegally and without any consequence.

You seem to have completely misrepresented the actual facts about your character then with your employer.

Totally clueless.

Can you remind us of the last time you travelled in Central Europe. ?

Except due to you and other xenophobes Poland is now going back to being in Eastern Europe. I love this country and hate ...
