News / Poland's Department of Defense reports 24th anniversary of Radio Maryja [29]

hence your multiple mansions (allegedly).

"Mansions" is a euphemism, which I have made no secret of :) Just because I dislike socialist policies in a poor country doesn't necessarily mean one is financially secure.

I care about my adopted country because I live here and will in all likelyhood die here.

And yourself? :))

That is my perception of this radio.

Can we ask if you are a catholic Crow? If you understand Polish, you might know it is (just a little) obsessed with mentioning Jesus in every sentence...:)

As well as separating senile old people from their pensions (allegedly).....

They play some cracking classical music though:)

Law / Drinking in a parked car. What the Poland's law says? [24]

Whether or not you'd want to risk it is another question

True enough - especially now that the police are in the pay of our "friends". I was shocked to hear that "Independent" Gdynia council is actually aligned to PIS.

A betrayal.

Maybe I wont risk this in Skwer Kościuszki as it might mean a few hours in the cop shop, depending on whether the police in question "understood" the law or not.

PS Thanks for the response and link:)

Law / Drinking in a parked car. What the Poland's law says? [24]

Delph and others - I am a big fan of that genre which others find particulary tedious - Blues/rock -Hendrix/Cream/ Rory Gallagher/Pinkoes - you get the idea....

Mu question is, the music says on the label to play it loud, and the good people in my area are getting a little tired of Dougpol Mansions rocking all 800 Hendrix CDs that I have.... at all times of the day and night.

My car has a pretty alright 5.1 Dolby system, and I want to park up on Gdynia square sometimes by the sea and crunch it up, with lashings of HopHeads amber ale. Now....

The law in the UK seems to be that I can be as ****** as I like in my car as long as:

1. The engine is off
2. The keys (two sets of...) are behind the rear wheel....

Obviously the keys would be staying there til I lock the doors and head off into the night with (rock loving) hound.
I'm sure of this scheme being kosher and a liar-yer friend says this is not so and I would be busted. Who is closer to the truth?

Work / Cost of living in Gdańsk, average salary for experienced software engineer in Poland [64]

Rent is 6 times cheaper here than UK what more you want?

Cough. Are you a troll?
The OP really doesn't want to be paying more than 25 per cent of his net salary in rent and services, if he is to have any standard of living to speak of. As a half decent flat plus bills will set him back 1600-1800 a month, then I believe that even a child can work out that the OP is only really winning by my subjective model when he is clearing more than 7,200 zl in his pocket (his bank account - but you get the idea)

Now please stop commenting on something that you clearly know nowt about,

Food / What do people in Poland eat? [11]

Poles wont be eating anything, what with PIS and their plans to ZUS everything out of sight, on every type of legal business agreement.

people in the XX century may have eaten potatoes with cabbage, now in the XXI century they are more refined.

Yeah? A staple soup down Silesia way......

News / PiS to force every hard working, low earning Polish family to pay for TV [96]

Either way makes sure that the tax will be paid by everyone.

Not really. If everybody who doesn't have a TV or doesn't want to pay, wrote NO on their tax return, or deducted the amount on their electricity bill - then just as in the UK with Thatchers' Poll tax, we all know who the winner would be, and it wouldn't be the government.

The Polish population is soft, and always pays up.

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

You are outdoing yourself today Ironside, even by your usual standards, and have clearly lost the argument. Do feel free to remind us again on exactly how many years you have lived in Poland, and why you deem yourself such an authority on street behaviour here?

I said what I wanted to say

Which is "Poland for the Poles". You don't even live here, so what does it have to do with you? I don't pontificate on the situation where you are, do I? It's non of my business, because I don't pay taxes there.

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

This whole thread is about Poles, and how for centuries they have been an emigree nation, but their rulers, who have travelled the world, and taken advantage of what that world has to offer, consistently refuse to educate the population how to live like civilised human beings, and act with indifference, when they see a different person, whether he be black, homosexual, whatever, and those people who act in an overtly aggressive way are not censored.

The reason why those Ruch Chorzow hooligans were returned to Gdynia and sentenced was ONLY because the president of Gdynia prosecuted the matter himself. Otherwise the police would have let it go.

Conclusion: Cities with real respect for their citizens (emigrees/visitors et al) will not tolerate racist behaviour, and that includes rants and general merriment about those "disease ridden refugees" at "society parties" where the good and great congregate for canapies and drinkies.

Anyone with any repectability would get their coat and leave at that point. This racist thing is the ONE thing I cannot abide about Poland, and makes Poles appear to any outsider who doesn't know them, to be an extremely ridiculous, ignorant, and nasty people - which palpably in fact they are anything but.

I say this as a nationalist.

What is your opinion on European Union grants and subsidies x1233? They really have thrown Poland back to the time of the Moors, haven't they. Evil European Commission *******, signing off on all that money :(

In the meantime, go back to your blockites, have a couple of cans of Warka Strong, and enjoy your afternoon planning your next beach riot against foreign sailors.

I am quivering in my boots.

If you're not in favor of the right of people to say offensive things then you are no lover of freedom.

That's incitement, in Western Europe when using aggressive racially foul language and if caught on camera you will go to prison for 3 months minimum. Then there is the outraged reaction you would get. Good luck with that in the UK, unless you can fight like Russell Crowe, that is...:)

Okay i get it, Poles are not welcoming foreigners

Jose. don't worry. These teenagers don't live in Poland. Granddaddy emigrated to America, and they spend some time on here shouting for "Poland for the Poles", but actually do nothing to help their motherland.

You are more than welcome here where I live, and as I said, consider transferring to the rather excellent University of Gdansk, where western style freedom abounds.

Am i asking for too much??

Go to your university Dean with a Polish translator and make a formal complaint. The Dean is obliged to act if a member of his fraternity is not able to fulfil their study responsibilities because they feel threatened. He should contact the authorities on your behalf.

freedom of speech is not a right recognized by the French government.

So I'll go out on the streets and to the restaurants in Tri-City today then and insult every waiter, every passer by, and every catholic then shall I, because of their race and religion?

Any guesses as to what would become of poor Dougpol then? They rebuilt Steve Majors, the six billion dollar man, but once your "mates" with their sense of "free speech" as you falsely put it, had finished with me, there wouldn't be too many pieces to put back together ,bionically or otherwise.

I'm often threatened with the police for calling a bus driver "an idiot," for driving like one, but if I call a dark skinned passenger a dangerous Islamic terrorist who carriers diseases, then everyone on the bus would in all likelyhood grin knowingly.

Disgusting, and the European Union needs to wake up to this and take action in the form of mandates for every media proven instance. If it's a "crime" to lose on'e temper with a bus driver who is endangering his passengers, then it certainly is a crime to make racist comments.

Who are you to tell, in Poland, to Poles, how they should behave?

When it's illegal behaviour, the courts will deal with them, and if the police refuse to act - film it and take to the Ombudsman.

I just pointed that REFUSING to accept "stares" or other things we Poles do (with no racism in mind) is plainly ignorant and as toxic as the racism itself.

Que? So if I understand you correctly, staring at people in the street is, in fact, socially acceptable?

Thank you for your clarity on this point. Astounding.

Lol. You know nothing about us.

Just a guess? I'll bet the OP is better educated than you are, and knows a lot about Poland than you will ever grasp about Egypt and it's Geo-politic.

If you mean that he knows nothing about rabid racists, then I would be inclined to agree that is highly likely!

his way is the only right way

That's where you are wrong.

"Incitement to incite racial hatred" is enshrined in European Law. If the OP takes his complaint to the authorities when attacked or spat on because of his ethinicity, then they are bound to act.

He is protected by European law, not necessarily by the Polish legislation. It is not my opinion, but evidence and justification.

Next problem?

they were let in

"They"?

A lot of British wanted Poles to be means tested before they were allowed into the UK. By the nature of some of the behaviour by people here who really have no common decency, I am beginning to feel that this would have been the right approach.

How the hell are "You" in ANY WAY better than "Them"? I fail to get the logic. And yet you are inherently supremacist and think you are so special.

I am here to tell you that in fact, you are not :))))

I don't want FGM to gain a foothold here.

Another idiot. And you really wonder why diplomats everywhere shake their heads in wonder? Next time you are ******** about Poles and Poland being looked down on, ask yourselves the reason why?

Hilarious stuff here today, and some shocking ignorance from my fellow man, but as it's raining here and I have my morning shift I might as well take the bait.

**** me!!!!

So are we right in that Poles who treat others as second class is correct behaviour and should be tolerated by the European Union?.

**** ME:))))))

You are an idiot.

Egyptian men

Cough. I thought we were talking about the (considerable) racism that goes on in the streets of Poland, and nobody does feck all about it.

Time for the European Union to send a Task Force in methinks to teach Poles how to behave.

around 95% of Poles are racist and the remaining 5% don't give a sh..t (and of course won't make you feel welcome ).

My missus, and ALL of my Polish friends aren't like that - quite the reverse. If I find that they are racist I dump them pronto from my Christmas card list:) I wouldn't give truck to their idiocy about race or religion mattering a jot.

The OP should transfer his studies to the Tri-city, which is a normal environment, where people from other cultures are not bothered - even in the skinhead areas of Chylonia and Stogi.

no idea what kind of country they were in.

That type of place (Sharm-el-Sheikh) is not my cup of tea, but it's not in Egypt is it? It's like a state within a state. Anything goes, for euros, and surely you knew what to expect? It's for a certain type of holiday. For instance, when I was young I never went to Ibiza because I hated all that 18-30s nonsense.

If you don't like it, don't go. And the OP came here and is finding things hard, Of course, as another poster said he can try to complain through legal channels, but good luck with that one.

I am a sensitive soul and simply wouldn't want to come here if I was a black African. Some rise above all that, but I am affected by my environment and would get riled. But The OP is here and shouldn't have to put up with this slanderous suggestion of "You are African and clubs don't want your sort....."

Under European regulations - and yes, Poland is part of the Union and European discrimination laws very much apply, whether the PF racist rednecks like it or not - the OP has the right to gain access to anywhere free of hindrance based on his ethinicity. If he can prove that they, the bouncers, made a choice based on his race, then he has a case.

If he rants and offers to box them then he would have a problem. Instead I would suggest that he carry a hidden camera and post racism up on the web and let the world see the truth of the matter.

more effective when used infrequently.

Ab- so - lute -ly. I were shocked when it were written so in yon Guardian.
But does that make the British press less real? Written and spoken language is a different kettle of. The omnipresent language in an expensive restaurant or pub in Poland would get you barred in the average London West End pub.

Double standards methinks.

Things like the c-word have absolutely no place on here.

When one acts like one...... methinks he should be told.....

If it's good enough for the Guardian newspaper......
Move with the language flow Delph. We live in troubled times.
