Love / Are Polish and Slavic men perhaps a little bit insecure sometimes? [113]

You probably need somebody stronger than you. Those, in my experience, only come around when you don't need them, when you've managed to get your sheet together and are happy with your life, then BAM! and the games begin. Life is a roller coaster. Wallow in every phase, because it probably won't last for long. Na zdrowie!

I don't have an answer for you, because I don't know who are you talking about. Everybody is different. But, I do know that whatever you're looking for, that is what you will find. If you like putting people down, before you know it, you'll be surrounded either by insecurity or anger.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

Whoever is videotaping these things is complicit. It's like taping a suicide. The guy with the camera taping the men drinking a whole bottle is the low-life.

I don't think it's Allison. She does not have much experience with Russians, plus... hockey?? Not in Carolinas... Disgusting Americans? Not Allison... but, I could be wrong..

Don't mind them, girl, they're just trying to establish who's trolling.
So, no nonsense, what was the question again?

It does sound somewhat familiar...
But, taking it for what it's worth, it's the thread's title that is most revealing to me: "perhaps? "a little bit"? "sometimes"?

Passive aggressive much?
(don't take it the wrong way, I tend to be passive aggressive too, but it helps knowing it)

UK, Ireland / Common pitfalls for Poles learning English [187]

be careful how you say "fork". In my efforts to make the proper American "r" sound, I used to give diners a pause when I asked if the'd like another "fok".

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

I still think there might be some cultural differences here that he's touching on (no pun intended). The "free love" sexual revolution did not make as big of a mark on Poland as it did on US.

Life / Disco Polo - No No No No No! [95]

It seems that Europe never got over disco.

We had our disco riots here 30 years ago: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night

Except for the language, there is nothing distinctly Polish about it. Every nation puts out droves of this sh!t.

Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

Prenuptial counselling involves the purpose of mariage, creating a loving family unit, the art of compromise and benefit of marital harmony.

I have not checked the churches' position on this in a while, but what do these prenuptial councelors say about birth control?

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

when I left service industry, the restaurant/bar I worked at was required to list the total sales for the server and taxed them on 15% of that as an income. That means that if you were getting more than 15% in tips, then you are right on the unclaimed income, but if you sucked or got a lot of tourists, you were scruvved.

I also think Poland has a lot of underground income sources. It has to. How else can they affort to look as good as they do, have the homes, furnishings, cars, etc on the pensja they are supposedly getting??

Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

My particular 'pathology' goes even further than that. I don't think that governments should sanction marriage at all! It concerns the personal relationship choices and should not be a law. If one wants a financial contract, by all means, one should get one. That should not entitle you to any special priviledges, tax breaks, special treatment at Thanksgiving dinner... I think it's one more way in which religion imposes laws. Religious groups are on a campaign to revive the "traditional" marriage (it's worth remembering that includes no sex before marriage!).

They show studies that married couples stay together longer than unmarried couples. But aren't people that marry most likely more religious, conservative and more opposed to divorce to start with?

They show that married people are healthier than unmarried couples. That might be true, but if studies show that childless couples are healthier than the ones with children, would the governement start programs to dicourage having kids?

Married people might even be happier. They do receive more support from society and family, while unmarried once get pressured.
Two of my best friends just got married after living together for over 10 years. They did it so she can get on his health insurance. They will grow old together either way, I'm sure, but they do resent the distinction and a pressure to conform on this.

I think that has already been said. Unless he likes to entertaining himself by insulting people, this will not bring him back.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Hush, wildrover! I'm trying to bring him back.
Is it not possible that she teased him mercilessly, 'slapping' his hand away each time he thought the time was right?
I don't think he would have been this bewildered, looking even for some cultural explanations here, if she did let him know she was not going to sleep with him, no?

I can see him totally disqusted with us, we're practically accusing him of being a molester, while all he was trying to figure out were her confusing signals.

Possible?

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

In the guy's defense, she must have sent him some signals. He does not sound like a complete idiot. You have to admit, a lot of Polish women like to act coquetish, even when they have no intention of following through. He might have been a puppy she was playing with, until he gave her his ultimatum.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

I drink every day but I fully control it. I can stop whenever I want, but for the time being I don`t want to stop because it isn`t a problem.

every single day?? Dude, you got to quit for few days every once in a while, just to see if you get the shakes!

They thought I was a gangster as it's a sign of rebellion in Japan, LOL.

my son goes to Japan for surf contests and promos and he says they treat him there like a royalty or a rock star. He loved it! (except he was getting lost constantly - all it took was turning a corner).

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

No American girl has done this outright, they always has some romantic physical interest that didn't need to be paid for. They didn't give me touches, they wanted to touch and be touched. It's the difference between doing things because of instinct vs. cultural conditioning.

This sheds some light at American girls he knew, who might have considered sex as more of a form of entertainment. No wonder the guy was baffled.

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

Then there are also some big ticket items like house insurance, which varies greatly, all kinds of taxes, and health insurance, which I would not want to get into.

And 10% to the church, of course ;)
