Off-Topic / I need Polish nationals. Who wants to be a millionaire? [54]

Doing all right really. Moved from Ireland to Scotland now my business there is done and dusted. Working in my old job nursing away for the company I used to work for and building work in my spare time. Quite boring, making plans for a return to Poland one last and final time.

News / Zloty exchange rates - is this just speculation? [87]

Luckily I managed to find some tenants for the farm house I renovated in Ireland, if not I'd be up **** creek right now having to sell the place bar it cost me feck all to buy. The current market out there is sh1t, during the "boom" so many people built big 4-5 bedroomed houses in the country thinking they could sell them for a quick profit. Boo hoo to them. Market crashed and those with sense will now buy at rock bottom prices and wait for the markets to improve. If you're prepared to be patient and wait you could make a real killing.

Was thinking of skipping Krakow when I move back and settling in Wroclaw, if I do I'll certainly give you a bell for a few pints bro.

So DT, thats the price for living the dream. I'll only miss this place when i leave and miss it i will. Saw six wild boar the other day....

Yep, it would surprise people what we have to do just to live the dream. 6 boar? I would have been out like a shot with the rifle :) Wild Boar burgers, just in time for the summer.

This was similar to something I was thinking about in the Private Health Care Sector. Though more to do with the Patient -> Care team -> Family sequence. The rest I'll keep to myself for a little longer :P ;)

Language teaching has had its day, I got out in time

I would argue the point but you're entitled to what you believe. Teaching can be very lucrative when it leads you to other things. Like you said it's having the motivation to see the fuller picture.

* Why am I not so argumentative these days :)

Most of the ppl on this page who criticise him are prob teachers and will remain that all their lives

So what. Whoever wants to teach may as well teach if that's what they want to do.

WB is alright, just bouncing an idea about. Good luck to him in whatever he endeavours. Anyone with a little business sav would have worked it out by now. Fact is, live your own lives and stop criticising others who are at least trying. (This doesn't only go for business but for life in general.) Hey I would sweep horse **** (and have done so) if it meant I could live a happy life ;)

Horses for courses ect.

Work / I got a job in Krakow for 3500 zl Brutto...is it ok ? [33]

As far as i know from the time you get a contract you are free to leave the job whenever you want...Am I right ?

Under European laws yes, but I think they can still tie you down to the job unless you pay back the costs for the training. Though I don't think they could do much about you leaving for another job and certainly wouldn't force you to stay.

News / Poland could emerge as new European and world power. If? [116]

never heard of such tthing done by priest. even if somethin like this happen from time to time priest are also "humans" so that means that some of them can be "evil" but its not noticeable minority compared to what they are doing even know, and if you want i can share with my knowledge what they done in my town during last 10 years ^^

Ok so many of the country schools. I actually fell out with a priest in Kolbuszowa after he advised my ex fiancee not to use condoms as sperm are so small they can penetrate the condom :/ Lets just say it isnt an argument I was proud of.

She was also shown a video of this during her high school education.

your understanding is wrong,

Why?

priest were first to die along with jews there

Were they fu(k, if they were im sure there would be a memorable in auschwitz. Again, prove me wrong?

im only 20 years old so sorry

yet i gave you one exemple that happen in my family

Sorry but I think ur age is blinding you, one example however bad it might have been does not equate to ALL the RC in Poland.

like i mentioned in previous post our local church is doing good job even now

Yes, the same ppl who give sex ed classes in school??

that post was not dedicated to you and not meant to suport my arguments in this discusion :*

For someone who loves the church so much, u sure do like to kiss ;)

Again, tell me of the local priests help, without links, maybe you should use ur own knowledge before quoting others? As my understanding a lot of priests "worked" for the Nazi's in identifying Jews for work camps at the time.

I accept that and do not need to read up about subjects. Poland was a safe harbour for many a kind during it's history. The first left wing country during the middle and late middle ages. Many a Scots merchant were given place within Krakow during the clearances. Where exactly I dont know, but my guessing is around the nowy kleparz area.

I dont dispute the fact of Polands history, I dispute that the "local church" hadn't much or anything to do with its times of occupation.

sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Oh for Gods sake, we're talking about modern times... keep up a lot has changed since the glory days of the Polish - Lith union.

Its still absolutely nothing compared to what the average man done. If they were so much into their calling, why did they not openly oppose the occupations? Instead of bowing their heads to the occupiers then sneaking under their noses?

Dtaylor, Yup, I know one Polish girl who has this natural talent, among other natural talents!)

If they speak more than 2 languages fluently....dont trust them ;)

Local priests...

Guess it has to be said....Prove it!
I only ask cos every Pole I've talked to who are old enough to remember that time pretty much said the Church offered no refuge.

Its well know in Poland that at time the Poland was under foreign rule the priests was a soul of Poland, it was them who keept cheering poles and their fighting spirit also they provided wide help for partisants.

It may have well done so. But what real difference did it make? Did it start any rebellions? Did it fight against the Russians or Nazi's by openly opposing them in public? There is a huge difference in helping out and actually making a huge change.

its yet understandable for many of east countries ppl all good :D

Really doesn't help when you are trying to build the country into being a player on the world scene.

Though the advantage of that is that a lot of Poles have a natural talent for learning foreign languages.

for exemple germanisation was a proces to convert poles to germans and destroy language and culture of Poland.

As in changing street names to German as a way of brainwashing the populous.

As I could imagine the Vatican was a key tool used by the Nazi's in pacifying the populous at the same time. Whether or not they knew it.

ahh and i didnt said that vatican did but our church did, local polish priests

Despite what JPII did, I cant see local priests doing very much. They as well would have been under the control of the occupying forces.

History / The Polish Blame Culture! [330]

Unfortunately most Poles see us "giving" them away. Im not an expert on this part of history, but I keep hearing Churchill being brought up, I think we sometimes forget there was another failure who was PM at the start of the war.

Poland at the time was hardly worth thinking about on world schemes. As Norman Davies says it has a trend of building itself up then the very politicians voted for destroying the country. Bit like what is happening today eh?

Life / Saw a girl in black openly smoking a spliff on a Katowice street today [49]

My lodger has MS and he finds it doesn't help at all but certain foods seem to.

Exactly, it all depends on the individual. This is one reason I get kinda pissed off at my C/A's. They often group our clients into one bracket forgetting that each client has their own needs.

and a lot yet to learn about the active ingredients

Maybe, the trouble with it is that we only see it as an illegal drug. Though it's painkilling properties are there to be seen. My aunt has MS and is one of a few people who receives it via the NHS.

The thing about weed is that it seems to affect different people in different ways

Same with a lot of drugs, legal or illegal. You have to "experiment" to get the right doses or medication to help the right person.

so does stress. And alcohol. And antidepressants.

Yep, though not in the same league. I'm looking after two clients at the mo with Aggressive schizophrenia due to their old habits.

Then again, I also think all drugs should be legalised ;)

Everything in moderation of course;)
