Life / $3,000-$4,000 a month - would we have enough money to live in Poland? [273]

PennBoy

A family's life in the NYC area on $4,000 would not be a picnic. I guess Colorado is somewhat cheaper.

New York is expensive here in Pennsylvania home prices for example are 3x (suburbs) to 5x (city) less.

s2ggod2, if you go to Poland, just make sure you buy all the clothes you need in the US.

I haven't been in Poland a few years so i dunno but i hear most things are more expensive than in the States, yet people's salaries are much lower.

USA, Canada / Things that Polish-American should know about Poland. [168]

Two British expats (delphi and Harry) deciding who is Polish and who is not. Gotta love those arrogant pricks ... and this Polish forum :)

Oh man that was a good one :)))))))

Have you ever considered that our views reflect Polish society - that most Poles simply do not consider 3rd/4th/5th generation Polish-Americans to be Polish, especially when they can't speak Polish?

Our views? you mean your views. You don't consider me a 1st generation Pole in America who speaks it better than you will ever to be Polish. You make your own **** up and stick by it, you dimwit.

UK, Ireland / Poles living in the UK returning home or not? [63]

Pole

My DNA proves that I am and you obviously still can't read, I said a Varsovian one who was born there and still lives there said that, no no one in Warsaw doesn't dislike them that's why their Vietnamese trade center was set on fire that's why they don't go to football matches or walk around at night in other neighborhoods. Poles don't like non whites and that's a fact.

i heard that there is a millon CHINESE ready to take all the jobs in poland .

I'd 10x rather see a million Eastern Europeans than some Asians in Poland, I'm sure most Poles are with me on that one. I was actually having a a discussion with a Varsovian who came here to visit his elderly mother two days ago about how he don't like seeing too many Asians on the street in Warsaw.

Yes, in precisely the same way that wiggers *are* black.

So you're admitting to being a wannabe Pole, and a wigger.

USA, Canada / Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)? [161]

I think many Poles are ashamed of their heritage, sometimes such Poles get to another country and want nothing to do with Poland what so ever.

No you're wrong about that one, it's that they are mad about needing to leave their homeland just to have a better life, why couldn't my country do the same for me as America ? is the question. I've heard Poles who were asked by Americans how is it in Poland and answered there's nothing there, bitterly. Disappointment.

No, but swearing that one will perform military service against one's country does make one a traitor

USA, Canada / Think you're Polish (and live in the USA)? [161]

Not if you wish to socialise with people around you, or want to have certain rights in whichever country you wish to stay.

Exactly living is a different country doesn't make one a traitor, if this is where i wanna stay i live and work with Americans i socialize with them, if i wanna be treated as an equal citizenship is the way to go. This country is my home now.

We're all stuck on the same planet, okay?)

:)

I think we should extradite Harry to Mars, so that he wont pollute the planet with his genes.

News / Polish cleaner blows the lid on 'dirty' Germans [124]

They're certainly not beautiful. Expensive, yes - but not beautiful.

The current trends in Polish housebuilding are utterly shocking and will leave a horrific scar on the landscape in years to come.

Maybe you'd like to post a few pics of these hideous dwellings.

yep, the chances are just like the chances are, she's not :-)

Um no you obviously saw only what you wanted during your stay in Poland, half the young (teen/20s) girls are pretty, ask the Brits who they find prettier Slavic Germanic? :-)

Don't get me wrong, BB - we hate ordinary Germans too, but volksdeutche are
slightly more annoying. ;)

Well like i said before it's hard to find people in Poland who like Germans, unless it benefits them in some way.

Erm...that is from yet another book, isn't it???

No this book,

"I hope that my bad employers read this book and start behaving better," Justyna told The Independent. "The idea is to persuade everyone who has a char lady to think again," she added.
"Where do you come from?" Her reply: "From Poland" not infrequently elicits the answer: "No thanks" or ***** Polack".

Evidently. I read an article where the lady had been called sh1t polack"

Go back?

OK, then don't hire these people in the first place if you don't like em' they'll go somewhere else or will stay home.

Well...as I see it she thinks she is something better with her A-level and had high hopes coming to Germany.

Well if she is a very pretty young woman and the job itself is degrading and she's having some fat ugly old man/woman call her names as if she's beneath them, how do you think she felt ?

In 12 years she was unable to do anything about her real dream - probably the whole time feeling humiliated being "forced" to do work "under her".

If she was there illegally what could she do?

PF is full of discrimination too...do you see me complaining? She could have left every time..but she didn't. Maybe she is just a **********?

PF is a discussion forum, not real life. Maybe she heard from other friends who do the same kind of work that other Germans treat them the same, where was she to go? plus she obviously needed the money, she was to become some ***** in a brothel and do nasty fat men?

Erm...that is blahblah wishy washy and you know that.

In what way is the polish house cleaner "exploited"???

Those "dirty" Poles!!! ;)

Ukrainians are the largest foreign workforce in Poland, real numbers are actually much higher, women clean or take care of kids, men do construction jobs. But i've never read about Ukrainian women saying that Poles houses are filthy BB, just about peoples arrogance.

The second picture is closer to the average but still far better than most.

The second is like what my family in Poland has, but that's an 80's style house, the one on the left is what was being built from around the year 2000. The brand new styles are like these two, the second of course being much more expensive, probably in some Warsaw suburb.

Most people can only dream of such places and have to work with much less - nevertheless they manage.

There's quite a few people that do have a house like that, but you're right this is more typical in the countryside.

That's certainly true. When I first moved there, I assumed from the awful external state of some of the houses, that the insides would be just as bad. In fact the insides of Polish homes tend to be immaculate, no matter how tatty the outsides look.

Yep, most Poles spend much money on doing it to, new bathrooms, hardwood flooring, detailing rooms. In the countryside they're building beautiful homes these days and wanna keep them looking new and clean.

I dunno where they got the whole idea of Poles being dirty in the first place, it's hard to find a Polish household that isn't spick and span, Poles take pride in remodeling their homes and keeping them clean. Germans can learn something from Poles on that.
