History / WW2 hypothesis - if France And England weren't so timid, wimpy and scared of Hitler... [34]

Yes , probably..if we had marched in there and given him a slap as soon as they began to break the rules imposed on them after the defeat in the first war...

But when you lose millions of lives in a war with Germany , you are not too keen to rush in there and do it all again..By the time it was realised he had to be stopped Germany was too strong to attack....

I guess everyone was hoping Hitler would keep his word and not attack the rest of Europe...

Even after Poland was attacked Britain did not want to get involved in a European war , but we had an agreement to help , we had no choice , we certainly were not in a position to go to war with Germany at that time...

History / Pole who burned himself to protest the 1968 Soviet invasion [81]

Yes , its the days , weeks and months after being burnt when you suffer...

I have been on the race tracks most of my life , and was not much scared of dying or getting hurt but fire used to scare the hell out of me , and most of the other competitors i knew...

To purposely set yourself on fire is something i just can,t imagine....

metres of bandages that stick to huge skinless mass with all the nerve-endings wide open,

To be burnt badly , but have the nerve endings still intact must be horrific , the people i know that were burnt said that the months following their burns were the worst moments of their lives , and had they been offered an injection to end their lives they would have taken it...

The worst burns i have ever had were both my knees when a gearbox in an ice race car blew up and the oil caught fire , it was pretty minor compared to what you went through , but not at all nice...

I am glad you survived my friend..you were lucky...

Does Russia have Heinz beans,

My lady assures me that you can get anything in Moscow that you can get in London Paris or wherever , and intially we will be very close to the center...

Once we move to the new house out in the sticks it might be a different story..!

You are not going to believe this , but.... i have not asked her if you can get Heinz beans there..!!!!!

If the worst comes to the worst... i will get my sister to send them to me...

now when i see burning and screaming man i will know that hes overreacting

I have been in a racing car that was on fire , TWICE..! I was lucky in that i was not injured very much , and was able to get my ass out of it pretty fast...

But believe me...if i had been trapped in there...i would have been screaming..even if it didn,t hurt...!

The soviet empire didn't fall because of the few people who burnt themselves....

Thats true...but their actions sparked massive protests , and in Poland the government asked for Soviet support if they got out of hand..

The Russians told them they had to sort it out on their own , Russia no longer had the resources for trying to keep a lid on the fight for freedom in Poland , and the Polish government was forced to talk to the freedom movement...

The rest is history..as they say...

History / Pole who burned himself to protest the 1968 Soviet invasion [81]

Despite what WildRover was told about burning to death, it must be a nasty affair and as sometimes this was the ONLY means of protest (despite the lack of coverage), if nothing else it is a statement of how desperate people were.

It certainly is not a death i would choose , but three people who were very badly burned told me that it does not hurt that much..

The first was my brother in laws father who was one of the guinea pig club , the only surviving member of a Lancaster bomber that crashed on take off due to sabotage it seems..a full fuel and bomb load ensured it was a very intense fire

The second was a friend of mine trapped in a racing car that lit up in Germany...He said he felt fear , even panic , but no pain , and did not realise he had actually been burnt untill somebody told him...

The third was the brother of a friend , a welsh guardsman who was burnt when the Sir gallahad was hit by an Argentine missile...he told me he could see his flesh falling off , and smell it burning...but he felt no pain...

Setting yourself on fire is a horrific spectacle , one that is sure to make headlines , and this is the reason it is chosen... We all saw the monk that lit himself on fire in protest at the Vietnam war , and this went a long way towards turning the American public against the war..Once they had lost public support , the war was lost...

A few people set themselves on fire to protest against Soviet oppression , and this led to mass protests that most likely helped to end this oppression...

When it comes to drawing attention to your cause , burning yourself is very very effective..

the most excruciating painful death I think

I was told be a racing driver friend that burning is not actually that painfull...usually the screams you hear are those of panic , not pain...

As the nerve endings are burnt your ability to feel pain is lost....

If you survive , its the months of skin grafts that are very very painfull....

Real Estate / TRESPASSING ON MY LAND IN POLAND....what can i do legally...? [119]

Do you kill and eat your own animals

I repeat what i said before...i personally do not wish to kill something just for fun....

Killing something to eat it is a different matter , and if was hungry i would have no worries about doing it....

However , i don,t need to kill anything to eat , as there are plenty of others more than willing to kill any meat i eat....

I did not say i was against hunting , just that i do not wish to do it , and that i am not exactly happy that beer swilling buraks with high powered rifles can wander freely on my land shooting anything that moves , dogs , cats , and people if you are silly enough to walk on your own land when they are around..

Real Estate / TRESPASSING ON MY LAND IN POLAND....what can i do legally...? [119]

I was hoping you coudl provide me an argument as to why you are better than a hunter

I did not say i was better than a hunter...all i said was was that i personally dont wish to shoot something for fun...

I am well aware of all the noble reasons for hunting , but lets not kid ourselves here...these people hunt because they like killing things....

Real Estate / TRESPASSING ON MY LAND IN POLAND....what can i do legally...? [119]

guys with small penises are good shots!

As somebody who has been a driver for these hunters i can tell you that they do not have to be a good shot....The hunters stand some distance apart , while others with dogs drive the deer , foxes and wild boar towards the hunters... Most of the animals are killed at a distance that requires no shooting skills whatsoever...This is not a case of skilled marksmen stalking their animals and using hunting skills , its like shooting rats in a barrel...

News / Excrement protest in Warsaw.... [5]

A 71 year old man has been arrested in Warsaw after throwing a jar of liquid excrement at the plaque unveiled last week on the wall of the Presidential Palace, in memory of the Smolensk crash victims.

The attack on the plaque occurred at around 14.00 CET this afternoon. The elderly man was immediately led away by police after he had thrown the contents of a jar over the plaque.

The plaque was unveiled last Thursday by Jacek MichaƂowski of the President’s Office and vice president of Warsaw, Jacek Wojciechowicz and was greeted negatively by protestors who want a larger, permanent monument placed in front of the President Palace in honour of the 96 victims of the Smolensk air crash on April 10. FROM THE NEWS.PL

What i want to know is.... was the liquid poo a bad case of the runs , or did he put it through a blender first....????

News / POLAND PAYS FOR BAD WASTE DISPOSAL [5]

I am not really sure i want to have nine different coloured wheely bins outside my farm that i will get fined for if i don,t stay at home to take them in after they have been emptied like some countries do...

Like the UK for instance....

What do you actually have on your farm?

Well..there is me , a dog called Rover ( yeah that makes the Poles laugh ) and a family of six cats....thats it folks..

No cows , sheep , pigs , Elephants , buffalo or whatever , although i swear i did see a crocodile in my well one day...but that might have been the vodka....
