News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Macierewicz

Macierewicz is a true sterling anti-communist in knight's armour, hated by all the snitchers of the post-communist round-table clique for wanting to reveal their commie-era misdeeds. In fact the weekly news magazine Do Rzeczy recently front-paged a drawing of Macierewicz in hussar armour astride a charging steed. It's no wonder all those with the commie-era sin of being paid secret-polilce informers on their conscience have been spewing a torrent of hate speech against him.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Merged: President Duda gest highest rating since taking office

Despite the unrelenting, no-holds-barred frontal attack on President Duda by loser-camp propagandists, the latest CBOS survey found the highest "doing a good job" level since he took office. Respondents gave Duda a 56% approval rating, 31% similarly rated the Sejm and Senate and a mere 27% approved the performance of the TK.

Attention would-be ranters and mud-slingers: be sure to buy a copy of this weekend's KK (aka GW) where you'll find a KOD application form. Once you're in, advise your new-found KODerast mates to whip things up a few more notches and dump even more filth and abuse on the current pro-Polish administration and produce more placards of a duck being devoured by an eagle, the govenring party's acronym on the gallows and other "subtle" political statements. Alnd, by all measn. be sure to have them herd more people into the streets and next month, Duda's approval rating will surely drop to 48%, 32%, maybe even12%. So go to it lads, show us what you can do!

Funny how you don't link

Wow, you really take an informal chart group very seriously incdeed. I saw the figure once and let it be art that with no thought of storing it or going back 2-3 years to what some poster once typed. I for one do not regard PF as a UN-sponsored international symposium or even a uni seminar, It's onył a casual, off-the-cuff chat disucssion group to bounce ideas and impressions about.

Every time a medium does not use the full text of anything, that is censorship in your books? In journalism one tries to extract key points from an endless flood of statements, interviews, pressers, briefings and other verbiage. It is true that irrelevant or inconvenient things often get left out. The Latest Michnik & Kijowski Show somehow failed to highlight the fact that Obama had not shown up despite being invited. Is that suppressign the truth? Techncially yes, but they are on a fanatical, gung-ho mission to discredit their country's government and feel bending twisting or concealing the truth is justified. Michnik even entered his late parents' world of Stalinist hyperbole and character assassination when he linked MLK's killer to Poland's good-change government.

Petru was second most trusted

Maybe the fact that he appeals to the ladies has something to do with it. Are you among them? In one June survey PiS got 41% backing and Petru 7%. That says a lot!

NATO is popular in Poland

True, but PO and Petru are not! Not directly relevant except to demonstrate your one-sided take on reality. You emphasise something's popularity or public support only when it fits your prejudices and preconceived notions. PiS are popular, but when did you last highlight that fact? A majority in Poland support capital punishment (in gneral or in specifc cases) as well as lowering retirement age but we havent heard you saying the will of the nation must be heeded. Pathetic tunnel-vision bias all the way!

embassy did not release the full text

I'm sure even you know the Embassy is subservient to the President's
Press Office and merely relays communiqués and statemenets rather than creating them, so it's the same text (nitpicking and clutching at straws again -- your speciality!).

Have you read the text? There is no "slamming" nor even "harsh cocnern" as WaPo wrote in the article to slightly tone down its hyped "slamming" headline.

Only concern and encouragement. Obama said: "We've urged all parties to work together to sustain Poland's democratic institutions." But the pathetic losers' clique have shown time and time again they do not want to work together to resolve anything and wish only to sustain themselves on the potlical stage.

My favourite part

My favourite part was how the Washignton Post hyped its headline saying "Obama slams Polish democracy" and then scruffy ol' Michnik uses the Polish term zbesztać (to slam, castigate, scold, upbraid) to trasnalte it for his rag. That forced the US Embassy to release the full text of Obama's remarks where only terms such as "express concern" related to Poland's internal disputes.

Another favourite is how the KODerasts thought they would attarct a huge rally of disgruntled losers and chronic PiS-bashers to the dedication of MLK Square and invited Obama to attend. Only a coupla hunderd losers turned up. Michnik and Kijwoski looked silly and mentally bedraggeld up on hat little platform when obama tuirned them down. If they hadn't been blinded by their anti-government hatred adn hysteria, they would have known that far greater things were taking place at the NATO summit whose individual stages had been planned long in advance. Besdies, if Obama had shown up, it would have been a great diplomatic faux pas to publicly side with the host country's government's sworn enemies.

Yes, he was right to do so and spoke the truth.

Whta about a foreign president attending an environmental conference hosted by the US and publicly asking Obama: "What's all this race-war business we're hearing about? Isn't your country even able to guarantee the safety of your own law-enforcement officers?" Even if he spoke the truth, which in this case he would have, would a visitng head of state be right to publicly chide the US President over an isiósue not related to the theme of the conference?

West feels that it the situation here doesn't agree with the ideals

Only that part of the West who believe the one-sided Michnik/KOD/Petru/Schetyna narration. The West as personified by the Washington Post, an effective sister-publication of Michnik's rag, headlined its report "Obama slammed Polish democracy" which Michnik translated as zbeształ (to score, rebuke, castigate slam, lambast). That has prompted the US Embassy to issue the full text of Obama's statement which is polite and full of concern but displays no slamming or other violent rhetoric.

Merged: Warsaw NATO summit -- a breakthrough of sorts

NATO's Warsaw summit has been hailed as a breakthrough of sorts, although it fell a bit short of Waraw's expectations. Poland had been pressing for permanent NATO bases on Polish soil, whereas the alliance agreed to only a "rotating troop presence" so as not to antagonise the Rooskies.

As a consolation, Obama threw in an armed-to-teeth US armored brigade of around 3,200 troops. Add to that the several hundred GIs who will man the Redzikowo anti-misiile shield, Poland will have around 5,000 NATO troops on the ground as opposed to 1,000 each in the Baltic states.

Poland was admitted to NATO in 1999 but that was largely a nominal paper presence and servilistic form of paricipation. Polish forces eagerly volunteered troops to every NATO combat mission which claimed many Polish lives. Now it is pay-back time. If NATO and US leaders keep their pledge, Poland will finally reap some benefit from its membership. Perhaps also some day Polish visitors will be able to go the US without.

Obama behaved with all the finesse of an elephant in a china shop when he publicly scolded the Polish president. Maybe if it had pertained to defence and security, if Poland was reluctant to contribute troops to NATO missions or had cut back defence spending, it might conceivably have at least been relevant to a defence summit. But Obama's remarks on the host country's internal legal or political disputes were not directly related to security issues. That faux pas might be compared to a foreign president attending an environmental conference hosted by the US and publicly asking Obama: "What's all this race-war business we're hearing about? Isn't your country even able to guarantee the safety of your own law-enforcement officers?"

ice zombies

There's no discussing with closed minds. Only a fool would believe all the Sejm's losers, the KODists, all the retired PRL generals adn SB agents, and the PRL-rooted entertianers, academics, journalists and their families have nothing better to do than disinterestedly and altrusitically bang on about the TK, and the rule of law and suchlike with no persional interest in mind. They are all happy that another party has been given a chance by voters and that new TV presetners have found jobs, right? If you believe that, you'll believe anything. BTW which rule of law states that only one formation should govern perpetually?

I don't see them condemning

PiS have bigger fish to fry -- prying the country free from the clutches of the post-commie roundtable clique. They have had their fun for a quarter of a century, enjoyed the undeserved benefits of power and privilege. Now it's time for others, the vast marjotiy of Poles, to share the fruits of transformation, Solidarity people outside the chosen clique, those without dynastic family ties or PRL-rooted connections or coming from economically deprived smaller towns. Who are you to say only the fossilised status quo is a valid option, that the have's and have-not's can never change.

You've undoubtedly noticed that PiS withdrew from the march after it was largely taken over by right-wing nationalists.

destroy the rule of law

Yes, that is the leftist-liberal narration. In actuality, it is all about retaining the post-roundtable clique and the status quo that allowed them to rule the roost for most of the 26 years. The TK is of little concern to the former SB and commie military brass worried about their fatcat pensions, the ministerial kids, the oligarchs getting rich as foreign-interest-group lackeys, the dynasties of enterainers, lawyers, physicians and academics with roots to the commie regime. They may rant and chant "the TK forever!" but their main concern is a return to their former position of power, influence and privilege as if they deseve to benefit from them indefinitely. The pro-Polish government are about spreading those benefits around more justly and allowing the hitherto dispossessed to share in the fruits of transformation.

nationalistic wingnuts

The Polish flag is a sacred smybol to most Poles (KODists and LGBT buffs excepted). Incorpotaitng its image in a film showing Hitler and KKK scenes is a flagrant violation of Poles' patriotic sensibilties and in very poor taste. It's not that Polish narodowcy don't want this, but that net users in general were outraged.

You're dead right mate

As usual, you have missed the point. The question was raised whether this may not have been a deliberate attempt to cause a controversy which is always good for box-office receipts. Most film-makers are in it only for the bread!

BTW, aren't the KOD gang, who are doing everything possible to derail the democratcially elected govnerment, abusing the national colours by hiding their selfish aims behind a pseudo-patriotic show of flags?

The only beton hereabouts or those who want to preserve the scamster status quo of the Tusk era which Poles call "pogoda dla grandziarzy"!

It was the PRL oepratives who replied to legitimate complaints and criticism with emtpy slogans as you have done. You did not refute that snitching pilgirmages became part and parcel of the oppostion who were even preapred to comprise the nation's security to achieve their selfish aims.

Merged: NATO summit - a slap in the face of fristrated KODists

What actual decisions are taken during the NATO summit remains to be seen, but one thing is certain. Poland's disloyal, all-out, anything-goes "oppositon"

(PO/.N/KOD) have done everything possible to derail and sabotage that key gathering. Because of their loss of power, influence and privilege, they used a purely internal row as a pretext to snitch on their own country to various international institutions and governments. Frequent snitching" pilgimages" to Brussels have inluded visits to NATO hq where KODists have persistently lobbied for a change of the Warsaw venue. They were politely heard out but ultimately ignored. In fact, the Petrus, Schetynas and Kijowskis are becoming unwelcome pests in the corridors of the EU, NATO and individual governments.

The situation is much the same at home. People are fed up wacthing the pointless KOD marches and hate placards, and their ranks are visibly thinning. Support for Petru's .N party is down to 6%.

Merged: Polish internauits outraged by Polish flags in film "Imperium"

Daniel Ragussis' movie "Imperium" tells the story of Nate Foster, a young, idealistic FBI agent, sent to infiltrate and liquidate a radical right-wing terrorist group. The film's trailer includes KuKluxKlan-style burning crosses, portraits of Hitler, swastikas, White Supremacist symbols and..... Poland's white & red flags carried by marchers. Polish net users were shocked by the scenes, apparently taken from Independence Day marches held in Poland on November 11th. It remains to be scene whether the Polish reaction will prompt the film-makers to remove that controversial scene. But one cannot rule out that the negative publicity was deliberately provoked to pique people's curiosity in a bid for box-office success.

everyone else is happy

Not everybody else. Most people don't know or care. Only the post-PRL clique that benefited the most from transformation are all for it.
Unless the opposition parties impose voting discipline and do not let their MPs vote according to their conscience, some PSL, PO and Nowocezsny PMs may support PiS/Kukuiz to approve the new constitution.

failed PO ploys

Yes, another of PO's desperate attempts to stay in the news has bitten the dust.
The Sejm has voted 267-166 to reject the PO motion to recall Macierewicz.
The Polish nation knew what they were doing when they gave PiS an outright
victory last October. All the embittered losers can do is rant, spew venom and
snitch.

18% who voted

And just how many voted for the failed PO loser regime? A single-digit minority? It is they whom the Polish voter disqualified and threw out of office, and deservedly so. You can fool some of the people some of the time...but after 8 years of scams, lies, unfulfilled promises and catering to the post-commie clique, even a simpleton could see through their cheap trickery.

impeachment

It's like all the other failed PO ploys, recalling this or that minister or other doomed daredevil schemes. They do it just to stay in the news and that's about all they can do. Thankfully, the pro-Polish good-change party has become the first party since 1989 to win a parliamentary majority, and that puts paid to all of PO's desperate and vindictive but totally fruitless pseudo-initiatives.

JK stabs him in the back

You and your BB (hopefully you've figured it out by now ) cronies really go in for wishful thinking, don't you. Well, have your fun and settle back for an 8 or probably even 12-year wave of good changes serving the nation, not the post-commie clique. You just don't seem to get it. That is all passé, démodé, on the dust heap of history and will never return. Except for the resentful losers with whom you apparently hobnob (and losers don't count!), the nation is now enjoying a new-found sense of personal sovereignty, the rule of a governemnt that is on their side and changing the coutnry for the better, not one in the pay of foreign corporations

what standing does

People of great stature, achievement and prominence, providential statesmen and sterling patriots such as Macierewicz have greater obligations than those of petty government bureacrats and in-it-just-for-the-money clerks and operatives. Such people (and Piłsudski was one) at times must rise above petty bureaucratic constraints with a view to the greater good of the nation. Those who actually fought back in 1956 felt that recalling Smolensk victims was not out of place. What was out of place and in extremely poor taste was the mean-spririted Platformerian attempt to sabotage and desecrate so lofty a commeration with jeers, red cards and ultimata.

opinion polls

Just shows to go how wrong the polls were to predict that TW Litwin (Komorowski) would win. At least by then the PO knew it would lose the GE so they tried to pull a fast one by rushing to illegally appoint TK judges. Their idea of fairness was 14 PO appointees and 1 from the opposition. And they are totally to blame for igniting yet another phase of the costly, wasteful and debilitating Polish-Polish war.
