Law / Residence permit in Poland. Starting an own business is enough to get this? [14]

people here are missing the actual obstacle to your residency. as an american who does this and knows many more in the same boat, heres how it goes. if you have american citizenship you can open a sole proprietorship (only americans and eu people are allowed to do this) . if youre Canadian or australian or peruvian, you cant. its just how it is. you could open an LLC. but thats more complicated. once you have the business going and have been pay ing Taxes and ZUS for a couple months, you can apple for residency and will probably be accepted if you earn at least around 5k pln/ month.

News / 60% of Poles say Szydło's government should resign [238]

really? i would say that living here for a decade and a half and speaking the language gives me some knowledge. not sure what you're buahahaing about. anyway, this thread talks about pislamic state as does the post you cite so i guess we should go with that. perhaps your reasoning and Reading comprehension skills warrant a chuckle.

Life / Libraries in Poland [20]

I think someone just wanted to take a fresh look at the old and tired discussion of "Will the internet destroy libraries?" :)

Law / Non-EU international driving licence - driving in Poland and Europe, renting a car [4]

I'm pretty sure your Lebanese one will be fine for renting and driving, just need a credit card to rent. Int. driving licenses are basically worthless since you often just pay some amount of money to get one in your home country i.e. they prove nothing. Never had a problem renting anywhere in Europe with my American or Polish license.

Law / Polish citizenship for de-facto relationships [14]

I thought marriage, like religion, was just an invention created long ago to keep the masses calm and sedated and coerce them into leading non-rebellious "productive" lives :)

History / Polish-Hungarian border exchange? [60]

The answer is "no." No country (except for a recent event where a Scandinavian country gave back some little hill to another just for *****) would ever "give back" land to another country. It's just a stupid question.

Law / Polish citizen moving back from USA to the EU (Ireland or Netherlands) with American partner [31]

Your partner, unless you are married, will only be allowed to legally stay in the EU for 90 days on a tourist visa. In order to stay longer he/she will need to apply for residency (which is extremely difficult if not a student, married or perhaps meeting some other requirement on an off-chance). I would really look carefully into the residency laws whatever country you plan to stay in but as a general rule, Western Europe is out.

News / Streets closed in Warsaw during NATO summit [146]

Why are you always on about Sarmatians? Do you realize that this ancient Slavic group or whatever doesn't exist in the minds of modern Poles. REAL people are only REALLY concerned about what aggressive states may do to their country and themselves.

Life / Can a secular muslim live in Poland? [24]

She should be fine. Especially in Warsaw, there are many people who don't eat (certain kinds of) meat and who don't follow the traditionally Catholic lifestyle. Also more and more women wearing head coverings, if she does that.

News / An article: NATO is the American occupation of Poland and Europe, by Mateusz Piskorski [233]

I'm totally against Russia but the I believe the way that putting a missile shield in Poland upsets power is that in a first and counter strike situation, the Russians would land less nukes in the West than the West would in Russia, assuming that Russia doesn't have as good a shield. Putting up shields everywhere kind of undermines the whole MAD concept.

Travel / Do I need an invitation to enter Poland as a tourist? [53]

Interesting, every American I know has gotten a KP without a Zameldowania. I used to need one to get the KP but no one has needed it even before 2016, for most of 2015 no one was asked. I can't really see any benefit to it. As far as getting a NIP and PESEL you get them when you register with the tax office and ZUS i.e. when you become employed or open a business.

Why do you need a zameldowania? Since the beginning of this year they are not required (for anyone). Your identification card does't have to have an address. I'm American and don't have or need a zameldowania, I really doubt you need one either.

You will need a visa. Bringing all sorts of letters and other documents means nothing to the border guards, only the official documents (visas, residency cards etc. ) will get you through.
