Love / I have met a nice Polish man on Facebook - he is not nearly as direct as I am [7]

Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?

Well first of all make your own thread.

But that sounds Sketch as Fu.ck Like really idk dude. I would make sure you can refund that ticket and why are you meeting somewhere totally strange to the both of you??? Like meet on either ones own turf. Ovby like at a cafe or something so if they are a creep they dont know where your house is.

his travel business are legitimate

What the hell does that even mean??? Does he meet alot of women in foreign lands??? and if so then why doesnt he pay for your ticket with all his mile high points??? or frequent flyer points????

Just saying sounds kinda sorta very sketch. I'd be very nervous.

News / More cars in Poland than America? [29]

Our oil usage per capita in the U.S is about twice what it is in Western Europe. So we must be WAY out driving all those in europe.

Oil usage

if you convince the Amish to trade their horses and buggies for cars

It's really not about that more about our city's such as New York City if you ever go

Of all people who commute to work in New York City, 41% use the subway, 24% drive alone, 12% take the bus, 10% walk to work, 2% travel by commuter rail, 5% carpool

Our cities have great transportation and these big cities Only 5.1 million people in new york city drive to work out of 17.7 million. If our cities didnt have such great transport then more people would need cars to get around. But people in these cities don't need them there is no reason for a car, if you ever go to NYC you would see how having a car is just a pain in the ass trying to find parking is almost impossible and you pain high prices to park in parking garages also.

Also an interesting fact is that as cars have gained more MPG instead of driving the same amount we have actually increased the amount of miles we have driven. Jevons paradox

And also we use our cars for our home buisnesses because we can them write them off. In the U.S if you list your car as a business car then you are allowed to write off the gas used and the price of the car off your taxes anyone who has taken a business class in the U.S would learn this. So these cars arnt considered into the passenger car total but instead into the commercial total. I've had many friends who own car business and every car driven within the family is tech a business car so that they can write them off. This skews up the numbers in a big way, as there are a hella lot of cars missing out because they are counted as commercial vehicles when in truth they are passenger cars.

News / More cars in Poland than America? [29]

I think GUS got it wrong unless they excluded vans, SUVs and 4x4s and stuck to only passenger cars

Exactly what I was just about to say LOL

We have a lot of cars in the U.S I mean most people have them I got my first car when I was 16 a brand new car and I I think maybe only 30 kids in my graduating class out of 300 didnt have a new car by they graduated.

Also in the U.S Has more elctric cars than in Poland en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_car_use_by_country#United_States Poland isnt even on the chart lol

A base model ford mondeo costs around 78,000zloty or $25,442 while in Canada I bought a Lexus rx350 with all the bells and whistles I could ever wish for, for $22,000. + the wadges are significantly lower

Haha but that lexus was NOT new and musta had miles to it. And if you were to compare that car to one being sold in Poland it might be slightly more but it wouldn't be much more.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

I dont agree with this at all did you ever read about the Polish firefighter that was killed this year in my city on Christmas eve???? So much love and support was brought out I've never heard anything bad said about the kid and sure as hell nothing aimed badly towards him being Polish, his being polish has been brought up as who he was. Such a great kid with a tragic ending. But this shows how people supported him and the other firefighter that was killed.

In my city i've never been nor have I heard anything badly said about being Polish.

Life / What makes a man a Pole? what does it mean to be a Pole? [187]

you're Polish, no doubt about it but it's not only because you're born there. Now imagine, what if a baby is born in Poland while its parents (both, not Polish) are just visiting Poland and leave the country right after its birth?

Well isn't that how the mexicans do it lol come into the U.S pop out a kid to gain access to America although idk if the kids consider themselves american or still mexican considering they were born to Mexicans. But if they were born in the U.S well then they have every right to consider themselves American although I dont think the parents should gain any citizenship through it but thats another topic.

Genealogy / Polish blood only makes up 1% of your "Polishness" [77]

@Lenka

Thank you, and I NEVER said that I was more Polish than him or anything. All i'm saying is I see myself as being Polish I cant say i'm an American as people then go where were you born and I go Poland ooo well then your Polish. I have family in Poland and my parents would hate for me to even say i'm not polish they have made it a deal to keep Polishness within our house to keep our connection to it. So I understand that I would come off as an American although I look Polish (Blonde blue eyes LOL) but I dont mind I grew up in the U.S so I cant expect anything else. My city doesn't have a big Polish community nor are my parents Polish so its hard, I lost the language unfortunately but I had no control over that.

AND YES I find this whole argument INSANELY Funny as i've never been told before i'm not Polish.

been doing this since my birth :P

Dany he WILL NEVER admit that he is wrong and that others can also be Polish you are 0.25% POLISH accept it :P

Life / What makes a man a Pole? what does it mean to be a Pole? [187]

ShawnH: So when does one (or does one?) cease to be Polish after leaving Poland?
Yes I would like to know when EXACTLY did I lose my Polishness?????

So no answer ehhh????

Alrighty then you have really brought my life to a new meaning I mean i'm LOST now not knowing who I am anymore WOW, i'm just stunned.

All i'm saying again is that you have NO IDEA who i even am and what my connection to Poland is, I know I said it yesterday and you just dismissed it so i'll say it again I still have things in Poland things that you don't even have. I plan on going back, which will gain me what 2 points for Polishness, or is that 2 points for gryffindor anywho my blood is no different than yours.

What makes a man a Pole? Why not what makes a person a pole cause if there is different criteria well then I know i'm a women idk exactly what you've decided to be yet but then we would fall under different things. What is the difference for a man from a women to be considered Polish????

Life / What makes a man a Pole? what does it mean to be a Pole? [187]

shes learning a language ? cool!

Cool I thought it was....

But YOU DONT even live in Poland and just like you it WASN't my choice to leave Poland. But I did live their and was born there I have my Polish passport and I have my Polish Birth Certificate. I Identify myself as being POLISH. Is that really so wrong, and you saying that i'm not polish isnt going to change it. Yes I grew up in the U.S and have accepted that form of lifestyle but my parents have always kept polish things around the house and we do celebrate some of the Polish holidays. We eat polish food in my house, not all the time but we do on occasion.

So when does one (or does one?) cease to be Polish after leaving Poland?

Yes I would like to know when EXACTLY did I lose my Polishness?????

Genealogy / Polish blood only makes up 1% of your "Polishness" [77]

Firstly, i feel the same about what I said yesterday.

Firstly I am Polish, When people ask where I am from I say I was born in POLAND.
Secondly I never said anything bad to you until after a while of you saying a load of crap to me.
Thirdly I NEVER said I was more Polish than you
Fourth I do celebrate things like the Polish christmas, We clean the house perfectly, we do the 13 courses. So I do celebrate Polish things and I do know Polish culture.

And I could go on and ON AND ON AND ON

No, she got banned for insulting you after Lenka said stop. Don't try and change things.

Goofy I never said anything that bad to you last night and I waited SOOOO Long to say something back, I even asked you multiple times if you were done taking low ball shots at me.

goofy mochadot18 was only fooling around, she meant no harm, you are confused because you were arguing with bluesfan and delphiandomine.

Pretty much THANK YOU Nile, I shoulda listened to you and just ignored the stupid comment :P

I mean I was born there I understand I don't know everything about poland but I am learning the language right now and am planningon going back. So what am I not polish has my bloodturned to something else I wasn't aware I that I'm not polish anymore. If someone could explain thank you!!!!!!

Life / My take on Poland - My Top 10 [31]

UMMMM YES what I said is 100% true, I work in new york and so I know when I cant sell it to people. But ill post the link for you anyway.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_laws_of_the_United_States

But while is some areas the whole 2am curfew on serving may be to early as 2am isnt that late but we dont need bars to be open 24/7 and bars to still be serving drunk ass people at 6am in the morning. But it does very state to state and even communities can decide weather or not to be a dry town and such.

Life / My take on Poland - My Top 10 [31]

In the U.S you can't Purchase alcohol In new york from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Although it varies other states are more strict. Alcohol may not be served before 12 Noon on Sunday. Around here ALL bars must close by 2am so after that you cannot purchase anything.

And yes this is a good thing to have as why should anyone be purchasing alcohol as 4am anyway??????

And also here in New York no grocery store can sell any hard liquor. So you cant purchase hard liquor after about 10pm from stores or if you go to a bar then 2am.

So basically I met this girl who lives in a small village in Poland, on Chatroulette

OMG SERIOUSLY HAHAHAHAHAHAHA i'm sorry but HAHAHA LOL chatroulette dont people just go on there with like sock puppets and masks LOL

Dude, you're 18, go live, visit Poland it is awesome there, just make sure you learn something being 18 you have to be pretty stupid, lol.

Are you going to college? I hope you are not considering marriage at 18, you should just give your money to a charity if that is the case.

Yes I agree with that, Dont waste all your money go to school!

Also why doesn't she spend her own money to come to the U.S and visit you??? Why do you have to spend all your money to go see her?

Life / The Polish school? What's it like. [26]

Cyborgs LOL, but NO I have not watched it nor have I ever heard of it at all, but just saying its not a standard for American schools to have metal detectors, and like what Polish schools have no gangs???? I can't even find any stats on Polish school except for universities so its kinda hard to compare so things but still I'm sure Polish schools have gangs in the crappier parts of the country. But I know where I grew up we do not have gangs nor do we have metal detectors just saying its not all of America.

As for the whole not growing up right I TOTS agree homeschooled kids are almost always weird, they dont know how to act around people and well they are just weird again lol.
