Travel / Cottage in Zakopane, website suggestions? [6]

Hi guys,

We are 15-20 ppl trying to rent a cottage somewhere around Zakopane or just in the Mountains, for New years.
After looking around a bit I just realized that we're a bit late, and most of them seems to be already rented out.
Anyways as my Polish is garbage I've only been searching in English and on Gumtree. Perhaps someone can give me suggestions on which Polish website I might be able to find something? Or simply let me know what I should search on google.

All help is much appreciated, thanks!

Travel / Places to be in Krakow [5]

Is there any special reason why French people love that place?

I was kidding Sedna.
Kazimierz is my favorite part, plenty of good bars and dinning places.

There are many clubs, resturants etc. and new commers always asks people's opinion, I think instead you should discover yourself and make your own impression of the individual places.

Either way don't worry, Krakow is an amazing and you'll love it for sure. I know many french guys in Krakow, they never plan on moving back.

Work / Need advice regarding moving to Krakow (got 95K zloty gross offer) [6]

Smurf you've got it wrong.
If you make 8000 ZL gross pr. month that equals 5700 ZL net at the most and trust me, this is true..
So you have 5700 ZL and you wanna save 1000 USD = 3120 ZL.

From the 5700 you - the 3120 ZL and that leaves you with: 2580 ZL. A cheap room on your own will cost you atleast 7-800ZL all inclusiv.

So that will leave you with at the best 1700-1800 ZL pr. month for all other expanses.

It can be done, but you are not IMO going to live very comfortable. Especially because from time to time there will be unpredictable expenses which will be tough for you with the above budget.

Law / Open a little cafe in krakow ! Any tips [14]

This right here is by no mean racist, so please do not get offended.
There is loads of Kebab places here in Krakow, but literally they all suck! You can only get one decent Kebab in Krakow down on Swietego Wawrzynca, and even though its not very good location it is always packed with people!

Seriously, consider going into that business and make sure that you make good quality kebabs with fresh ingredients!
It'll be a hit for sure.

I know its a completely different business than a Cheesecake cafe, but I think this will give you more success and better profit.

Real Estate / Buying a flat in Krakow; prices are still falling? [200]

anyhow I digress... any advice appreciated :)

Without having too much knowledge regarding this, I'd say that the prices are in general falling not drastically but they are going down.
I bought my apt in Krakow 3 months ago through property consultants Leach&Lang and I have been very satisfied with their service. They even helped me negotiate a save quiet good amount of money on my apt.

But yes, in general real estate agents in Krakow blows!

Work / An American studying in Poland - CELTA, SAT? [20]

Will the SAT make me a better candidate? I simply want to know if my idea is realistic.

You won't need this.
As long as your willing to pay the money it costs, then they will easily accept you.
Expect tuition of 4000 EUR pr. year or so.

Law / Retail chain pricing in Poland? [10]

but somehow I had just assumed that in one city the big chain retailers had the same price on the same goods.

As far as I'm informed isnt Zabka a franchise sort of, so that each individual owner probably has to have same goods etc. but probably they can set the prices a bit different in each store, off course within a reasonable limit.

Travel / From Krakow to chernobyl? [5]

Hi guys,

I have heard that they have started to make organized trips from Krakow to Chernobyl.
Hence I am super interested in taking such trip, could anyone perhaps advice the best way to do so?
I have tried to google several sentences in order to find some agency who organizes such trips, but without luck.
Perhaps some of you has taken the trip before (either by agency, or on your own) and could advice how to go about such trip?

Any information would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Life / Thinking of a move to Wroclaw, Poland [13]

. then say, in which city you live, I will tell you the neigbourhoods and please go visit them at evening

Which areas are these in Krakow?
I'm sure you'd say Nowa Huta, but I've been there twice Friday and Tuesday night after dark.

Podgorze I almost live in, that place is nothing close to Dangerous. Offcourse you can find danger everywhere you want, it all depends on your behavior!

Study / what kind of job I can work during university? (Krakow) [15]

I will also start my studies next year at Krakow university of Economics.
You can rent a room and live 2 people for around 400ZL all inclusive pr. month.

Besides this you'll need around 1000ZL pr. month to live (not good, but cheap student life) but for 2000ZL pr. month you'll live pretty okay while studying if you just share a room.

Life / Moving To Krakow May (a place to live and work?) [48]

Okay, yea actually it might be hard for you to find a job considering your only language is English. Or at least find a decent paying job.

Learning Polish will def be a help, but you'll still need to have some relevant experience to be hired within a hotel or such.

There is a big tourism industry in Krakow for sure. If I were you I'd save some of those British pounds and start a small business here based on tourist coming from Britain (or something).

I'm from Denmark/Us.

Love / Where to meet a foreign guy in Poland outside a club/disco [12]

You see, I'm a girl so chatting guys up on the streets is rather a no-no and if you make an eye contact and smile at a guy at a disco there is a big change that he will come up and talk to you but if you look and smile at a guy on the street he will think I'm wierd/acting provocatively

I disagree, nothing more seductive than a girl smiling/flirting on the streets. Unfortunately it always ends up being a one time smile in the crowd, and then you never see her again.

The clubbing scene is indeed annoying, so why don't you just go to some cozy bars and chat up some foreign guys?
With that being said, I don't really understand why you'd want a Foreign guy when you could have a Polish gentlemen, but that's all up to you :-)
