Life / Top 10 Poland fashion brands [25]

It does.

Yeah nobody in the UK or USA knows any of these brands. I don't see these in any shops. I don't know how well known they are in central Europe.

Ah yes wilczur, with a u - my bad.

Although having typed both of them in to Google image, it seems they are different. Wilczaki do look more like wolves.

BTW, there's this cool breed of dogs: wilczak, which is a German shephard's/wolf mix.

Isn't it wilczor? Or are there two types, one is wilczor and the other wilczak?

Life / Top 10 Poland fashion brands [25]

I'll be honest, I don't know any Polish brands off the top off my head, and while that might say something about me, it says a lot about how much the country is struggling to create recognisable world brands.

I think 'głodny jak wilk' is more common than 'jak pies' but both are used, with good reason too.

Have you seen how quickly a wolf or wolf-like dog [wilczor, German shepherd, Alsation etc.] can devour a piece of meet? It's frightening.

UK, Ireland / No Poles Allowed! - Latest Polonophobic Outrage Out of Britain [660]

Just back to the original topic about the 'polonophobic' sign, I can see the reasoning behind it. Polish people were draining the lake of all the fish while Brits were fishing for sport and throwing them back in.

Similar measures were introduced in Poland. In Krakow for example, some bars were not allowing in any Brits for some time [I don't know if it is still the case] because they would get drunk, start fights and smash the place up.

About the no Polish sign - I think they could have done it more tactfully. It was too reminiscent of the no black, no dogs, no Irish style signs in Britain a while back, which was clearly racist. So perhaps a sign explaining that fish must be put back, i.e. only catch and release fishing is allowed.

News / No Jews allowed! Latest anti-semitic outrage out of Poland [21]

Perhaps you can tell us what charges have been brought against him? Let us know when he was arrested?

Why? You're the one who gave us a link to some news from last month. Why should I start researching whatever the latest update is - you're the one who seems to care about it so much.

He's Polish by accident and scumbag by choice.

I suppose that's why you titled this thread 'No Jews allowed! Latest anti-semitic outrage out of Poland,' and not something like 'WJC upset at lack of government reaction to Piotr Rybak's antisemitic banner.'

UK, Ireland / Receiving money in the UK from Poland in foreign currency via bank transfer [9]

But when I go on the Transfer front page and type in the amount to be transferred in zlotys, and say I want it transferred in to GBP, it says it will take 5 zloty from me during the transaction.

I thought the whole idea with Transfer was that you avoid banks and their fees?

Could I not just get them to do a normal transfer in to GBP, rather than in Euros first? According to the website, they would be charging 5zl. So if they send 100 zl for instance, which according to the currency converter, is £20.90, via this website, I would get 19.85 after the 5zl fee is paid to them.

UK, Ireland / Receiving money in the UK from Poland in foreign currency via bank transfer [9]

Thanks

I'd recommend the person in Poland converts it to GBP, deposits it in their bank, then transfers it with a GBP-GBP transaction instead, which should only have a small fee attached to it.

I can't do this though. It's a company paying for a service, and they only pay in zlotys, so I won't be able to get them to convert it first.

Transfer wise might be an option though - I'll have a look at that.

UK, Ireland / Receiving money in the UK from Poland in foreign currency via bank transfer [9]

Does anyone know how it works if I receive money from Poland in to a UK bank account?

Say they send it in zlotys, I am assuming there would be some foreign transaction fee and currency conversion fee my bank would charge? Or at least I thought so.

After giving the bank a call, I have been told that the side who is sending it is charged, not me. I don't think it makes much difference, as I still lose out, because if they are sending, for example, 100 zl, whatever they get charged at their end just gets taken off the 100 zl they would send me - so I receive less.

Does anyone know what sort of rates are charged for this [on average] and who exactly is charging them?

News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

To leftards Democracy is when things happen the way THEY want.

This is actually one of the main reasons why the left annoys me so much. Conservatives and/or right wingers, for the most part, are honest about how they would like their country to look and what they don't want.

Leftists have forever protested right-wing 'dictatorships,' crying that people should be free to do what they want, say what they want, think what they want etc. Yet, in many western countries, you can't do that. Unless you repeat their left-wing drivel.

Poland is going to hell in a hand-basket and by the time it gets there it will be far too late for the electorate to do anything about it.

Oh how little you know Atch. Then again, it's people who think like you that gives corrupt criminals in PO, who don't give two sh-ts about Poland, some hope of re-election.

Yes, why try and clear up the mess and rid the country of corruption and wrong-doing? We'd much prefer a bunch of corrupt guys in suits who eat octopus in restaurants, because at least Germany and the EU in general, will like us.

This whole case with Gronkiewicz-Waltz, is basically PO on a micro scale.

News / Poland's Party of Law and Justice (PiS) reconstruction [38]

I was hoping that JK would take the helm since he's personally unpopular (and the more he appears in public the less popular he is)

I think PiS know having him as PM wouldn't be good in terms of the next election. It would also make anyone who refused to vote for PiS with Kaczynski in charge, but were happy to vote for them when Szydlo ran, feel tricked and betrayed.

I don't think it's cool to get rid of her, unless she wanted to step down, but if she did, I think she would just say it officially. She gave PiS the win Kaczynski was unable to get for so many years and played a massive part in Duda's election as president, being his campaign manager.

News / Poland's Party of Law and Justice (PiS) reconstruction [38]

So the supposed reshuffle in PiS has been talked about since October.

It sounds as if we will be finding out some official decision soon, by next week at the latest I am hearing, and certainly before Christmas.

The most surprising change could be at the top, with Beata Szydlo rumoured to be about to give way to Mateusz Morawiecki.

reuters.com/article/us-poland-politics-government/polands-pis-may-sack-pm-szydlo-replace-with-finance-minister-sources-idUSKBN1DZ1C8

This would be a strange move for me, given how well PiS are doing in the polls and how they are consequently, with relatively few hiccups, doing what was expected of them by their voters.

In my view, only two things could be the cause of Beata Szydlo going, if she does.

1/ There is a lot more friction in the government that I thought and J.Kaczynski likes/trusts her a lot less than we [or at least I] realised.

2/ After 2 years in charge, she decided being prime minister wasn't for her. Perhaps the travel schedule is too much? Perhaps she isn't in the best of health? So it might have been her decision, but I think this is a lot less likely of the two.

Any thoughts on this?

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

Since there has been so much talk about age of consent in this topic, I had a look at countries from around the world. Some are quite high, some are very low [like 9, 10 or 11].

Bahrain is the highest at 21 apparently, while the lowest is Saudi Arabia, where there is no minimum age. There is a condition that you have to be married, but there is no minimum age for marriage there, so it seems a man could theoretically marry a 1-year-old and, well, I can't even bring myself to say it.

Some countries were much lower than I expected, such as Canada, where it is 12, if certain conditions are met, although I don't know what those conditions are [it isn't marriage].

News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

I found it! It's a website called votewatcheurope.eu

Thanks Atch, but it confuses me. It looks like there were about 20 separate votes all relating to 'the rule of law and democracy in Poland' with different outcomes. Do you know what one of those was the final vote?

Beside the point is a fact that Polish/MEP from Poland going against Poland are just traitors.

I agree.

Well I would say we now know who our friends and enemies are, but given that Poland voted for the resolution against itself [thanks to opposition party MEPs] it's hard to make that judgment.

Where can I see the full stats of how European countries voted? Also Hungary aren't slavic so how did they vote?

They proselytize to OTHER Jews not to goys, urging them to be more religious

While I don't condone Muslims or Christians who try to convert others by force [at this point it's Muslims more than Christians, let's be honest], the fact that Jews don't bother trying to convert goys as you say, while admittedly less annoying for those who don't like to be hassled, kind of shows how they see themselves as chosen by race and the others, non-Jews, are seen as inferior who will never be God's people.

But anyway for all this talk of Orthodox Jews, it isn't them who are committing these types of crimes in Hollywood. I'm pretty sure Polanski [Jewish/half Jewish, whatever] or Weinstein are not Orthodox or even remotely religious.

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

@Dark diggler

In reference to your comments about some of things that happen in Orthodox Jewish communities, I for one, am aware of this.

There are some heavily Jewish areas of London for instance where as you mentioned, Jews have their own ambulances, their own floors in hospital, their own schools, and even their own form of 'civilian policing.' Men and women also have to walk on separate sides of the street.

It is interesting that people will often moan or complain about Muslims or Eastern Europeans not assimilating with British culture or keeping in their own communities, but Jews having their own laws in their own communities doesn't bother seem to bother anyone as much.

News / Roman Polanski accused of unlawful sex with a minor [403]

I think that ygb has some serious self confidence and insecurity issues. Somehow a topic that is not about him is turning in to a topic all about how attractive he is and how younger girls like him and check him out.

Are you the same guy who made a post a while ago about how you met two young teenage Russian girls on a beach while on holiday and then didn't manage to take them to bed and you were really upset? Perhaps that was some other weirdo.

This topic is about a damn sexual predator and others, not how easy it is for you to get girls half your age to take an interest in you. Get over yourself.

I have zero sympathy for one Weinstein as he is clearly a slime bag and abuses his position.

By the same token I have zero sympathy and respect for some chick who spread her legs to a swine like W. get her role in a movie

I completely agree that Weinstein is as nasty as they get and it's good he has been outed and should be punished, but there are probably many like him in show business, either those we don't know about, or some that we do but for some reason they've gone unpunished. This is why they say, there's no business like show business, because you can get away with anything.

Some of these women are almost as deplorable as him though. Many of those accusing him have now made names for themselves. They kept quiet for so long, to protect their career, and in doing so, allowed this type of behaviour to continue. Imagine how many women they could have protected if they spoke out back then? Now they are rich and famous so they speak out. Oh how 'brave' of them.

Then you have to think how many other women there are who haven't said anything, because they got main parts in Weinstein movies for a filthy price. If they say anything now, it will tarnish their roles in the movie business, because we will know why they got them. It probably wouldn't be hard to figure out though. Since this is how things generally work with Weinstein, all you have to do is look up the movies he has produced and find attractive women who had leading roles in them. It's highly likely many of them got their roles by giving Weinstein what he wanted.

Hollywood is a sick place and to be honest, we shouldn't be supporting it. People have to stop going to the movies if they don't agree with this, because by going to movies and buying any other merchandise related to these films, we fund these sickos.
