History / Anger at yet another Polish tragedy [30]

I am both extremely pissed and heartbroken at the loss of the people who made Poland what it is today. Truly the 20th century architects of this country. But I strongly believe the Polish government should be pressed more by the people to demand more from this investigation, and not behave like such a Russian lap-dog. The only uprising I believe in here, is getting EU accident investigators in ASAP. Having had a week already with the data recorders, crash site, and the wreck to their disposal the Russians have had ample opportunity to tamper with evidence. And that video of the wreck in the forest utterly chills me. I can't get it out of my mind, it's just too eerie. Now imagine if we hadn't had the fortune of that Russian having the wherewithal to grab his camera and set out on foot. Where the hell would we be? A picture speaks a thousand words, and it's never been truer...

News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Well, then...I think we might have something here.

sounds of fire trucks sirena support it

That sounds like a train blasting its horn.... There have been reports that no fire trucks or ambulances were called out so soon. This video is reported to take place within minutes of the impact. If you look at the aerial shot of the crash site, you can see residences just to the right--it would only take them seconds to run there. Well, if you get "gnat" out of that like I do, and the identical word in Polish is wygnać--shots were for sure fired to scare them away. Wygnać / gnat have threatening meanings in both languages.

I simply do not have speakers on this computer to hear soundtrack of this flick. Maybe someone can separate soundtrack from flick and amplify it by some software that used to recover old recordings?

Use headphones, if you have any somewhere. I'm not high-tech enough to pull that off.
But I have headphones on that cover me entire ear. There's a lot more that's said by the other guy with the scared Russian, the older guy, at 1:19 minutes but I have no idea what it is. Can one of you translate? Also, what is the exact translation of what the guy is cursing? I get the gist of it, but just curious.

"gnat'" mean not very polite way to drive someone from some place. It may mean even something forceful or somewhat threatening.

The exact word for that in Polish is "wygnać" which means to banish with force. Yes, it's the exact same meaning in Polish. Okay... I still have misgivings about that whole video. It chills me to the bone.

News / Poland back to reality after Sunday ? [30]

the 70th anniversary of katyn killings was barely mentioned in the print or news

That's odd; we've had a lot of print coverage on it here, not so much televised though. I guess it depends on where you are.

"Davai gnat' ih otsuda"

This is it, then, I'm almost certain. Have a listen right at 50 seconds. They start talking at about 38 seconds... I wonder if you can make it out. The time at 50 seconds is much clearer, which is where that phrase is shouted. And then the shots fire just a few seconds later.

I'll be glad when we're allowed some more colour in the media

Maybe like less bewailing and more investigation updates. That would be a good start.
Here's an interesting link relating to that, I wonder if it's on the news in Poland:

Will there be a fight for power after people wipe dry their eyes and noses after the funeral? You betcha!

You will see Tusk clawing his way to the presidency. President has more power than prime minister, since clearly Tusk was getting nowhere while Kaczynski was alive.

Most Poles I've spoken with wouldn't smell a dead rat if it was hanging from their nose. Investigators are in over their head, and everyone else has their head stuck in the sand. Slavish Putler lovers, who prefer to distract themselves with such petty matters as where Kaczynski will be laid to rest. Ahhhh, ignorance is bliss!

whoever is in the know will show it

Did you hear how the widows of the deceased on board have had access to their bank accounts blocked? What do you make of that? I can't see a wealthy politician with 7 kids wouldn't have had a joint account with his wife, especially in Poland, where women run the roost.

News / Komorowski, acting president, is a shower! [51]

Cover any brick walls near you with pillows of soft material as you'll be beating your head against them trying to convince some people.

Yeah, no sh*t. What does it take around here--walking on water?
*Ruskies chorus in unison*, "Da!!!"

History / Kaczynski's Legacy [88]

Kaczynski would be remembered, not only by Poles

Agreed. The man was incorruptible, humble, and had much integrity--all-but-extinct qualities in a politician these days.

News / Who will be the next President of Poland? [51]

And Tusk has very open plans to reform the Constitution and bring in a German or Italian model where the Prime Minister is the undisputed top dog.

That is called "Hitler" and "Il Duce." And actually, should he become prime minister, he will be lapdog to the undisputed "top dog" Putin. He fierce pro-Russia stance is well known:

"With Kaczynski now dead and Acting President Bronislaw Komorowski, a close Tusk ally, tipped to win the presidency, analysts say efforts to repair economic and political ties between Moscow and Warsaw may accelerate."

When Kaczynski was around, the power was not in Tusk's hands. But it is now:

You don't think Tusk? He is planning to run, you know.

No he's not.

Here is proof.

"Consider" is diplomatic way of saying he is going to run. He has to appear as though he's "mourning."

January 22, 2010 (Less than 3 months ago)--"Patriot missile deployment against Russia, says Lavrov...Poland is giving the impression that it is strengthening its defences directly against Russia, says Moscow's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. The patriot missile battery should be in situ by 2011."
