Genealogy / Are Scandanavians a mix between Polish & Iberian stock? [70]

it was... but as i said, there is more to it..

there's more to what pgtx? We're talking about Poland as a country, not about some Slavic tribes on nowadays territory of Poland, two different things. Those Slavs back then, weren't Poles. We can talk about Poland as a country since 966. Poland was baptized and established as a country. You know I'm right, why can't you admit it one time :-)

open the link and read...

here pgtx, this is what your link says:

The prehistory and protohistory of Poland is the period from the first appearance of Homo species on the territory of modern-day Poland, to the establishment of the Polish state in the 10th century

it says, "to the establishment of the Polish state in the 10th century".... it says clearly that Poland as a country was established in the 10th century, right? you should have read it before you told me to read it pgtx

Genealogy / Are Scandanavians a mix between Polish & Iberian stock? [70]

The Haplogroup evidence suggests for at least 11 thousand years people in Poland have pretty much been genetically the same people.

even if this is the case, doesn't matter, they weren't Poles. Your country exists since 966 (correct me if I'm wrong).

To relate something that happened "by 4,600 years ago" to Poland is bizarre, misleading and untruthful.

for one, there was no Poland on a map yet to begin with. I don't understand why some people assume that what is now Poland used to be Poland back then too.

Life / Homosexuality in Polish Culture [231]

You see, I barely finished off my sentence and you already came up with your WHY. Why not just accept how I feel about it? Why don't we just accept each other opinions without asking why? You know and I know that we'll start getting very "lively" sooner or later if we'll continue talking about it. You know my answer. No need for me to answer it and start an inevitable argument.

Let's just learn to accept each other without arguing.

(going on a break)

but if their goal is to use those opinions to limit the freedoms of other people, on the grounds that they disapprove of those other people, based on who they are, then there is a problem.

I disapprove their right to adopt children (I don't care much about the rest). I personally don't have any problem to say it loud but there are millions of people around who are afraid to say it because they don't want to be attacked by others who feel differently about it. For some reason, gays and pro gays, are pretty aggressive when it comes to dealing with their opponents. It doesn't matter what we both believe as long as we are able to discuss it in a civilized manner but as seen on PF and not only, as soon as one expresses his feelings about gays or certain gay rights, the person will be almost always, ridiculed and insulted.

In this whole discussion about democracy, tolerance etc. is only one thing I don't understand, if it's OK for gays to live like they wanna live, have the same rights as everyone else etc, then why isn't it OK for traditionally raised (straight) people , to freely express their feelings about gays without being attacked for what they believe?

Democracy and freedom of speech for all, right?

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

Bollocks.I used to work at Jumbo supermarket in £ódź in 1999

Am I talking about Lodz? No, I'm talking about Borki (between Lublin and Siedlce). I think, it's a huge difference. Why are you so defensive Grubas anytime someone says something you don't like to hear?

Tell me, why the hell would I lie about anything I say about Poland? I even have Polish friends so why would I ever say something to make you guys look stupid or bad? Remember, no one and nothing is perfect, no matter where it is.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

many things have changed in Poland, including wages during the last 5 years. Fact.

When I lived in Mikolajki in 2007, their wages there, were a little bit higher (around 800PLN), I'm gonna ask them how much they're making right now.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

400 PLN was few years ago and I am sure she is making much more at the moment.

I doubt it, not in that area and if then it's not that much more for sure. It was in 2006.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

Yeah,all these minimum wage jobs

That's true I'd doubt they'll pay more Wal-Mart pays almost nothing in the States so Poland wont get no better treatment.

I've met a girl in Borki (near Radzyn Podlaski) and she was working at one of these little skleps for 400 PLN a month and when I asked her if this is a part time job, she said no, I actually have to work more than 40 hours a week and I don't get paid overtime either. I know it's not allover Poland like that but working at Walmart can be only better than that, right?

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

No offense to Walmart

yep, Walmart is something like Biedronka in Poland (I hope it's the right comparison :-), nothing special at all. I like shopping at Food Lion or Lowes Food.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

employees who wished a good day or packed the bought products just smelled like fake friendliness and cheap labor to them.

well, it's hard to make Europeans act like Americans and make them look natural at the same time and the other way around. I've been to many countries and one thing is for sure, no one (in visited countries) gets even close to our customer service and this is not some kind of patriotic statement, just my personal experience (OK, never been to the UK so sorry if I did you wrong guys).

thanks Wroclaw.

If 51% of their shares are still American owned technically it's still an American company. BTW half the products sold by American companies are 'Made in China'.

OK PB, you're right and I got my peace and quiet :-)

Btw. but almost no one sells as much of it as Walmart.

oh c'mon Georgie boy, Biedronka is Spanish (correct me if I'm wrong, that's what my Polish friends told me), why would you care who else is going to invest in Poland? Think about the amount of people they will hire in Poland too.

Work / Advice on Teaching in Silesia [23]

Probably that's why they pay less

PB you can't be more wrong than this time :-) No other school my dad ever worked in Poland for, paid better than that particular one in Krasnik. They paid him 55PLN an hour.

Work / Advice on Teaching in Silesia [23]

I think you are thinking of state school teachers.

No, I couldn't even say much about those because I've never met any. I agree with you that if one has enough hours, anything is possible. My dad was working only 2 days a week in Krasnik and they paid him 650 PLN for that so I know, you're right about what you're saying but as I've mentioned above, it takes some busy teacher to come up with 5.5k.

Work / Advice on Teaching in Silesia [23]

Look to get around 5.5k per month gross.

only the very busy ones make that much Sean US (I hope you agree with me). Most of the teachers I've met back then, weren't anywhere close to this number. Let's put it that way, none of them had enough hours to come up with that number. I don't say that it's impossible though. Good for you Sean US.

UK, Ireland / Polish burglars 'tied up pensioner and stripped her of jewellery before leaving her to die [28]

He downgraded his comments on the tragedy so that he wouldn't look too much like he has an anti-Polish agenda.

you're probably right about his intentions however in a case like this one, it shouldn't really matter because even if one chooses strong words when reporting what happened, no one should feel personally attacked unless he identifies himself with the criminal act of these scumbags. As I said above, Polish or not, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't try to excuse any American criminal either.
