Fcuk that: I want convenience and quality. Lucky I live and work where I do really.

Sorry I kind of assumed that the quality of the product is a given. When someone sells me a piece of crap that I don’t like I’m going to return it and get my money back. Possibly never shop there again. The store manager calls us at home once a month to just to make sure we’re satisfied with his store and shopping there.

Oh really? Is it an American version of The Ketchup Story?! (Hint: a plastic bag costs something like 5 gr = about 1.5 cent)

Call me spoiled but I would not pay for a plastic bag and I wouldn't shop at a store where they don't pack my groceries for me with a smile.

In Greece it is regarded as gypsy attitude if the shop does not give you bags for free to put your things in.Paying for the bags is considered outrageous it never happens.

I would somewhat agree with you, it's better for the business. People tend to choose more convenient and cheaper places to shop at. Also having well trained and polite personnel on staff can make a huge difference especially in the retail business.

Poles allow that they give up everything it seems like an agreement was made in terms ''if you want to approach our conditions of life you have to work first 30 years as our cleaners and builders.''

They really don't and that was the point I was trying to make about the education. It's a free market out there, if you know something useful you can make lots of money and you don't have to work really hard.

I think shopping carts are better for that.

I generally have one of these clipped to the inside of my coat or in my vest pocket.

Honest question harry, why do you carry a bag with you at all times?

She can strike the flint and make bonfire. Yet, she cannot resign from using the PC, and PCs are electrically powered, and electricity here is made of coal, and this makes Mother Earth choke

She could use a windmill or solar batteries to power her house but I’m sure they're too poor for that.

I am looking for someone in Poland who has stolen from me.

What did they steal from you and is it worth chasing after?
I would just go over there and ask them politely to give it back first, if not then I would just kick the crap out them. polish police is corrupted and inefficient, good luck with that. Btw Was the girl hot?

And ... so what ?

Monia, go to that blog and read the whole thing. Wolverine wrote exactly what I was saying earlier. I find it funny that other Polish "jumped him" the same way you guys did. Poland is a homogenous country and you're very predictable.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

On side note, I'm shocked with Havok being so young; I regarded him as a greybeard, rambling his frustration out. So pity that so young and handsome man behaves as aged grumbler so early.

Well, I like to keep things organized. PF happens to be this place where I unload all my frustrations, for now that is. I do have an issue with lots of unspent rage and energy that needs to be constantly managed. So I go to gym, swim and run, get on PF and write some outraging stuff, (by your standards of course), get drunk and do crazy stuff and then it feels all good again. This process allows me to be nicer to people at work and others in my personal life that I care about. You know, I don't think I was made for a desk job. Anyway, personally I think you have far more issues than I do.

There is also this other thing.

People in Poland lead very sheltered lives and many of them have limited access to life enriching experiences. So, yes maybe I'm young but I have experienced far more in my short life than you did in your long and boring one, which maybe a blessing or a curse, depending on how you look at it.

This is yet another reason why I think people in PL are poor. An average person there rarely experiences anything exciting in their life.

I found this hilarious post and i would like to share it with you.

"What ARE Polish people like? Part I

September 1, 2007 by island1

When you first meet Polish people in Poland, one of the first questions they always ask you is 'So, what do you think of Polish people?' or 'So, what do you think of Poland' I'm not saying they introduce themselves with these words, but I would bet money that it will come up within the first five minutes of conversation. It's almost like they're wondering if you would like to buy the place. I've known lots of British and American people who have lived in Poland for long or short periods and this always comes up. 'Why do they keep asking what we think of them?'

Here is one of the responses"

" by Wolverine

I read your post and it's really interesting. I'm a Polish, so I might have some insight about your thoughtful post. You're wondering why do we keep asking those questions and what's so different about us that is hard to grasp at the first time. It's really complicated and connected to our complex history, educational system, possibly also the "Polish soul" and nevertheless strong identification with our country.

Great post. Thank you."

Watching the vid and reading Havok thinking 140 km/h was 60 mph I can only draw one conclusion.

You said that only 10 times now and you took my sentence out of context and now you keep repeating it. For the sake of the argument let's say I miscalculated the conversion of Km/h to mph. Why this is such a big deal to you? It's not extremely valuable skill to have or an important one. Can you get over it already?

Watch the vid, bud- it is representative.

I don't feel like watching it. She probably says something dumb. Can you please try to compare for a change the smartest people in Poland to the smartest people in the US ? Why you people are always so negative and bitter about everything.

A toilet cleaners work is never done - slacker.

You guys have really good in Poland considering your toilet cleaners have a computer at work with internet access. Listen, you called me a toilet cleaner at least 20 times now, I know you're retarded but is there anyway I could ask you to stop doing it already? It's lame.

Havok,do you think there is poverty and Illiteracy in any other country in the world except Poland.

ok, she is dumb, what's your point? I look at her the same way people in GB look at millions of you.

You have won Havok, it should be the sole duty for every Polish person to live your life, so they can waste the rest of it projecting their insecurities by pushing Poland down.
God you must be a bore to meet, I can actually hear you go on and on and on about Poland in real life, as if you had one

I was finished with the stuff I was doing and just killing the time @ work so I decided to post something.
But really I gotta go home soon but before that I need to stop at the barbershop. Maybe.
I was just talking to my buddy who got us tickets to see Houston Aeros tomorrow, that is if they win tonight. Gooo Aeros! and I feel like BBQ tonight.

I don't know Sean, there aren't any Polacks around here so I guess you people are the only ones who I can really talk to about Poland. Honestly it would be like talking about a faraway Eskimo village to people here because they have no clue where Poland even is. So what are you up to Sean?

Edit:
****, wait is today Tuesday or Wednesday? So i guess the game is on Thursday... sorry for the confusion.

So I guess the best possible option for Polish people is to realize that everyone in the West is poor as well. Let’s do nothing and wait for more EU loans, donate our money and build more giant statues of Jesus while our universities and schools crumble…

Let’s argue with everyone who disagrees and then scream at the top of our lungs, we will bury you Havok, you fat mouth American!!!

Let’s post photos of our refrigerators on PF for everyone to see. As a matter of fact let’s organize a parade of refrigerators in town square to prove our point!

Ha! let’s ship all of those western traitors and plastic poles for voicing their opinion to Belarus to teach them a lesson. Our version of the truth is the correct one; never mind those millions of crazy westerners in GB looking at us and scratching their heads in disbelieve. See, they scratch themselves because they're in debt, all poor and have flees, that’s right.

Problem solved we’ve won!

hmm, why does this sounds so familiar? But but Poland is all different now, rich, prosperous and open minded. It’s the westerners who are stupid … Just leave us alone! We exactly know what we’re doing.. Shhhhh just wait 20 more years and you will see.

The majority of the people on this forum, with a few exceptions, represent an ideal sample of the Polish population. Dumb'n'poor could pretty much summarize it. I think you should invest more money in building new churches and giant statues of Jesus.

I'm not sure what's so difficult to understand. There are a lot of members of the faculty who never worked outside the academia environment. Which is fine if they teach Old English (as a practically useless subject) but I know of people teaching economics as pure abstract, because they never used their knowledge except for theoretical research, people teaching computer systems who never worked for an IT department outside the university; people teaching business ethics who never worked in a real business; people teaching how to be teachers (teaching methodology), who never worked in a real school except at a college level; or - my favorite - I know personally a dude teaching what was known as WOKAOJ at the University of Opole (Wiedza o Krajach Angielskiego Obszaru Jezykowego) who only knew those countries from books and a 2-week trip to London. How can you prepare graduates to go out there and get real jobs if you don't know what a real job means, and what it takes to get it - and keep it?

I suspect that's why Poles with university degrees work in kitchens and cleaning businesses in the UK.

huh? lol, Why do i get the feeling that you hate my guts? Why is me telling you how i see it so vulgar and upsetting to you? Is it wrong? Should i pretend like the rest? If you give me a good convincing explanation, in your own words, why my behavior is unacceptable I'm willing to stop. I'm a reasonable person.

Same as your statement that Chemistry was invented after Process Engineering?

Your arguments are slily.

Prove it.

I think it's obvious. Let me ask you a question. With your education can you get a job at Texas Dow or DuPont? Can you compete with graduates from American or German or British top universities? If you can I'll apologize to you and admit that Poland indeed is rich.

Stuff you're saying doesn't make any sense.

People who teach in Poland have no valid experience in the industry. That's all.

semi Polish? like who?

Roald Hoffmann who was born in PL but learned everything overseas.

i assume, you didn't graduate from Polish uni...

It would be a waste of time in my opinion. I have a few friends in Poland who are PhD faculty at the University of Wroclaw but they never worked a day in their life outside of teaching. Compare that with our Economics Professor at Upenn, who worked on Wall Street for 15 years.

87, M.Sc. Chem. E., Politechnika Warszawska, this faculty, and Assistant (scientific post) at the Industrial Chemistry Research Institute until 1996.

That was before they invented Chemistry.lol

But seriously, what was the leading research at your University? See, it's not about memorizing books or what your teacher memorized 30 years ago, it's about learning some cutting edge technology or learning from professors who work in the industry.

Wow! A navy seal and an ivy league graduate too, you must be the best qualified toilet cleaner in the history of the world!

Ok you caught me. I'm really an Australian peace corp tool at heart, and since then i have worked my way up as an assistant to the nigh-shift computer operator at the Polish law firm.

Harry, where did you go to school?

Really? That's why Poland keeps winning all sorts of international competitions, especially in computer science?

The complete list of Polish Nobel Prize Winners:
- MARIA CURIE SK£ODOWSKA (she did her research in France.)
- HENRYK SIENKIEWICZ
- W£ADYS£AW REYMONT
- CZES£AW MI£OSZ
- LECH WA£ĘSA - he is an idiot.
- WIS£AWA SZYMBORSKA

Rest of them were semi-Polish

nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/lists/all
here is the full list if you feel like reading

The science you teach at the Universality is at least a decade outdated. They give you those awards because everyone feels bad for you.

Tell you what - instead of blowing off your fat American mouth, why don't you come to Poland and see some of the research for yourself? Naaah.

In return for what, 10 PLN worth of strawberries and potatoes a day? Thank you, I'm staying here.

May I ask you about your own scientific degree, University, and graduation year?

'05 CIS, Upenn, what about you?

I am comparing two European cities - Warsaw, PL - Paris, France

Whatever lol

Warsaw School of Economics

is ranked at 390 something in the world behind some schools in Pakistan.

@ monia

Polish education is kind of useless. The Jagiellonian University the only Polish University fully accredited in most countries. Other Universities in PL are light years behind everyone else. Polish schools are poorly equipped and have no money for cutting edge research or any research lol as a matter of fact. Well, you don't have to take my word for it, feel free to Google World's best Universities and let me know if you find any Polish one.

Havok, as the debate was about cost of living in Europe Poland v France.

You started your argument saying that 1.5K PLN goes longer way in PL then 1.5 EU in France. I'm telling you that cost of living in Paris is high so it's stupid to compare something like that. I suspect now that you just wanted to show off that you could go to Paris.
