Food / Poland's favorite hard-to-find American snacks? [18]

American snacks that are difficult or expensive to purchase, despite being well-liked, in Poland.

It doesn't make sense because if they were well liked they would be available everywhere.I don't know what's your idea of Poland but the reality there is that it is very hard to find any business niche and any "well liked" product would be immediately offered .Now,some brands/flavors may not be available simply because they are not being offered on the market but then they cannot be well liked because they are unknown .Are you following me?It is simple logic. As for snacks being too expensive, come on...

I think Reese's are not available though I may be wrong. Other than that it is hard for me to think of any mainstream brand not being offered in PL.

Poland's favorite hard-to-find American snacks!

This sentence doesn't make any sense.

/aren't available in Poland would also be helpful.

I would bet on some peanut butter stuff.

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

.do you really want pictures,

Yes I do.You know that a picture is worth thousand words?

have never seen this anywhere else in Europe and would like someone to tell me why it happens here

And never have I that's why I am asking for pics. The only explanation I can think of is that they are lumberjacks or some other kind of forest workers.

Life / Men in Poland in the forest? Just men? [133]

One can only imagine that LSD and certain other drugs might explain some of the disturbing visions you've been having recently...

I find it strange too.I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they were hanging out in front of the village store but in the woods???Strange.Anybody else noticed something like this?I never did. Also, picnicking in winter?

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

You kidding aren't you?

I am not.

Britain, for example, was still using as its main battle rifle, a rifle from before WWI, a rifle first adopted by the British Army in 1888!

Standard rifle of German army was Mauser 98k and do you know what 98 means? It's superiority over Lee Enfield is up to debate as both rifles had their advantages and disadvantages.BTW Mauser 98 was also most common rifle of Polish army in 1939.And helmets?Come on...

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

just look at some documentaries from that time and compare their equipment with that of other armies.

I don't need to.I can't think of any example of German weaponry which would be vastly superior to what French,Brits or Soviets had.Can you?

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

exactly, they had the most advanced technology and the best equipped armed forces back

You wouldn't find many examples where German weaponry/tech was the most advanced in 1939.Their main advantage was successful implementation of fully integrated combined arms doctrine.

Law / Overstaying Tourist Visa and not getting deported from Poland? I'm from USA [13]

I know I might get some flak for this but do you know anyone that overstayed their tourist visa and managed to not get deported?

Nobody will deport you man.Worst case scenario you will get 1 year ban in Schengen zone when leaving but try to fix you status even just to have peace of mind.

USA, Canada / What do Polish people think of the USA [287]

Already ancient Romans knew that Ignorantia juris nocet.Besides, you don't talk to officer if you disagree with him,you talk to the judge. Also, in petty law infractions, course of action depends on an officer.I was let go once without a fine when I was caught dumping rusted door from my El Camino to a supermarket dumpster and I knew I was risking $500 fine as it was clearly written on the dumpster.I didn't ask that dude to let me go or anything,he just told to take it out of the dumpster and to never do it again or he will indeed fine me $500.Not all cops are bad people.

Love / Do Polish couples live together without being married? [18]

Even those do live together, they are just like friend, sleeping in separate room

In fact, very few Poles do and they can be met only among the educated "nouveaux riches" or artists.

Why do you "westerners" always have to display how ignorant you are?

Life / Are Polish ppl capable of revolting? [41]

To adopt a new regime? PiSlamist one?

You PO's paid applauders are so primitive!According to you if someone is sick of P(artia) O(szustów) he/she must be PiS supporter?Really? It didn't cross your mind that people are sick and tired not only of PO but also of PiS,SLD,PSL and rest of these cvnts? So,a for your information,my opinion about PiS is that they are also crooks only to lesser than PO degree and if I was ever to support PiS the only reason would be that Kaczynski after regaining power would deal with Pierdoleni Oszuści without gloves on because for him it has become personal matter.Kapish?

Love / Why a polish girl would prefer a relationship with a foreign man? [30]

Some of the women I worked with did say that life as a Polish woman is very hard

I only know what the ladies told me, no money, long hours, few material commodities, problems with alcohol?

So,are you talking about life of Polish women or life of some women in Poland? These are 2 different things. Is living in UK making them suddenly not Polish?

I stayed in Poland several times, the housing that I stayed in was very cramped and there were certainly very few consumer durables etc.. money was tight, this was true of most of the block

I don't know I must have lived on some other block. What you are talking about is some minority.I am not coming from any well off family. My mother is a teacher in a state school. She ,lives in a townhouse built in 81 with garage and a little garden, doesn't makes much money (5k PLN) but if you told her to go work in some factory for 3 times the money she makes now she would tell you,you must be mad.All her neighbours live like her or better. Also, my father had problems with alcohol so my mother divorced him and kicked him out.I am aware there are cases like the ones you are talking about but again that's minority.

Some snobby British people may see it like that, but for most of us we instantly understood that its a normality for the majority of Polish people.

Oh come on brah,I am from town way poorer than Wroclaw yet I didn't see what you saw.

Some of the women I worked with did say that life as a Polish woman is very hard

I do not understand, very hard like what?Do you think that Polish man plows his field with his women or what?I had lived in American resort town something like 7 or 8 years.Every summer there were students from EE coming there. Many of these women were dating Americans or Eastern Euros like me who already lived there for some time rather than their fellow students. Why?It's simple, we had cars,we knew what, where and how and we were making more money. We were simply more useful as dates. The only advantage an American had over me was that he was a novelty and I understand that because the same advantage my first 2 American gfs had over average Polish women. They were novelty to me.Now you see where I am coming from?

Love / Why a polish girl would prefer a relationship with a foreign man? [30]

Quite agree with you, there are British ones too! Polish women were mentioned because the title of the thread is about Polish women.

Fine.I just had a problem with this sentence

There were some women who had less alturisic reasons for being with Non Polish men but I've never experienced life as a Polish woman so who am I to criticise.

Maybe I am wrong but you seem to associate "life as a Polish women" with some kind of hardship or misery.Being with a native in a foreign country has its advantages but who do you think those Polish (or non Polish) "non altruistic" women would (given the opportunity) choose, Polish millioner/lawyer/executive officer or a British factory worker?

Language / Slavic accent correction [110]

so why English people keep thinking I'm Austrian or German when I speak with my Polish accent?

I don't know,I can only talk about Americans.

BTW, how can one fully define persons, nations who call themselves “Slavs/Slavic nations”, only by the language they speak?

I would say YES as there is huge difference in physical appearance between e.g Poles and Bulgarians. Also we Poles mixed with other nationalities (mainly Jews and Germans but also Scotts,Dutch and God only knows who else) over the centuries so much that under different criteria we wouldn't qualify as Slavic.

How come I, Polish, can recognize what is a Russian accent while speaking English, when the natives can't?

For the same reasons for which you cannot differentiate between Southern and Northern accent or New York and Chicago accents.I cannot either but they can.

I don't know about "Western world" but in the US (except for Chicagoland) you are assumed to be Russian when speaking with Polish,Czech or other EE accent.
