I disagree. If the Soviets or the Polish communists had wanted to solve the issue, they could've done it right after the war. That didn't happen. Instead they confiscated the property of the former Jewish owners who were either dead, had fled or were expelled. The USSR and Poland could've easily corrected the situation that the Germans left behind. They chose not to.


Absolutely. Poland will almost certainly refuse to pay because it would open a can of worms with former German owners otherwise. Not going to happen.

Makes you wonder why the right wingers all across Europe are so keen to dismantle the EU and bring back nationalism from the dead. Seems they have forgotten what price had to be paid to defeat that ideology in both world wars. So what do these people want? Bring back the British Empire? Reanimate the Third Reich? That's an average temperature increase, don't forget that. Also, look at the other indicators. It's going downhill, that's pretty obvious. How much of it is caused by humans is debatable, but all data points to us as the responsible ones. What does it hurt to take preventative measures before it is too late? Green technologies are the future anyway, not coal and oil.


It's quite simple. There are believers in scientific data, there are those who trust the oil industry lobby, and then there are nutters who swallow any conspiracy theory they can get hold of.

Ignorance is bliss. All you need to do is to look at average global temperatures. They have risen by 1.8 F since 1880. Seventeen of the 18 warmest years in the 136-year record all have occurred since 2001, with the exception of 1998. The year 2016 ranks as the warmest on record. What more do you need?

I'm not a fan either. Especially when paranoid parents are involved, who are full of fear that their offspring might learn some unwanted stuff in public schools such as sex education, evolution, drugs or life in general. Here, it's often the highly religious parents who are in favor of homeschooling their kids. Is that the same in Poland?

Saw the same thing here. The home schooled kids are oftentimes far ahead of their peers in public schools (depending on how ambitious their parents were), but many are socially awkward. Never really learnt how to interact with other people.

Totally agree, it is the parents' job to instill values into their offspring. Until you run into some crazy helicopter mums and dads who insist on home schooling, because they fear that their kids are exposed to the evil real world when they are visiting public schools.

You really don't know why you received a warning? I usually do. I either went off-topic in a conversation, or the Snitch Fairy left a "B" under my pillow. Does that change anything? No. The warning system is toothless as long as it is tolerated that permanently banned members sneak back in. Let's abandon that nonsense. We didn't need it in the early days here, so why now?

The problem is that no matter how often the worst offenders here get "permanently" banned, they are always allowed to come back under a different user name. Our forum overlords are fully aware of this and they tolerate it for whatever reason. Why do we need this silly warning system then? Might as well run the forum unmoderated, as Rich suggested.
