News / What impact will Donald Trump's election have on Poland? [331]

Well it looks like Trump is dumping his 'promises' he gave to get votes and is morphing into a regular if rather stupid Republican.

Still remains to be seen how his policy to Putin will be, but so far so good.

A president needs to remain professional first and foremost, otherwise wars could soon follow.

What on earth were you expecting him to do? he's a dead duck president, he doesnt have the capability to do anything without Trumps agreement.

I for one am dissapointed at this wasted opportunity in history.

Agreed, but unless a President controls Congress and the Senate, he cannot achieve anything,

News / Corporate-linked EC attacks Poland's retail tax; govt suspends collection [74]

They both believe Poland is an excellent place ot invest thanks to a pool of skilled manpower and the country's location.

I didn't say PiS has blown confidence in Poland, I said governments must not do so.

However, they apparently don't believe in their own rhetoric and welcome foreign investment for bring jobs and tax income.

I'm glad you have also had a revelation that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is very good for Poland, even if it requires financial assistance.

On the other hand the UK (ranked 11 and is especially at risk due to Brexit) would have riots on the streets with people looting and killing one another for food once the financial market moves away and the inevitable capital flight follows,.

How then did the UK manage to run up massive debts and have a stable currency until Brexit?

Poland CURRENT low level of debts won't help if there is no confidence in the government and a belief that the country is a safe, stable and secure place to place capital.

And don't kid yourself that Poland is uniquely placed to survive an economic disaster.

Just heard Siemens is scrapping its manufaturing facilities

You think a country can obtain the IP to build unique, quality products simple by wanting to?
The communist 's tried it, and the factories have all long since closed because they produced rubbish.

Building a manufacturing base is a long term evolution, success comes through care targeting and strategic planning. And lots of money, borrowed preferably..

In case of conflict it is not imprtant to have ready access to helicopter maintenance and spares within the country rather than at the other end of Europe.

The military is by definition a state enterprise, so yes this is best done in country. Thats a view held by political parties in Poland and else where.

So all countries -- USA, Germany, France, etc. -- are dominated by non-native capital to the same extent Poland is?

Yes. How do you suggest Poland replaces capital with its own money when it doesn't have any to begin with? the who reason it borrows from abroad in the first place?

The communist answer is to misunderstand capital so fundamentally that it thinks money grows on trees and can be printed like newspaper..This produces devastating socialist induced inflation,

This is why your opinions are so horrifying -your misguided belief that governments can control economies by taking control of companies and banks by placing (usually) incompetent idiots in charge.

A government has to provide the environment for Poland's success with laws and policies that encourage and enable its people to develop the economy. through their independent industry.

What do you hear when you see the Schultzes, Junkers and other EU stooges rolling in dough from all the kickbacks and spouting pharasaic rhetoric about European values, community solidarity, etc.

I cannot make sense of your communist rants, but I take it the PiS government intends to jack up taxes?

News / Boeing or Airbus - which ones would be better for the Polish Airlines (LOT)? [35]

In an open letter to the country's prime minister, Europe's largest aerospace group accused the Warsaw government of shifting the goalposts as Airbus competed with U.S. and Italian rivals and attempting to contravene European Union regulations.

Airbus Group Chief Executive Tom Enders accused Poland of misleading the company during negotiations and threatened further action, without giving details.

"Never have we been treated by any government customer the way this government has treated us," Enders said in a separate emailed statement.

"The controversial and contradictory declarations of the Polish government over the course of this procurement proceedings created the impression of unprecedented confusion," he said

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

Russia has the worlds largest arsenal of nuclear weapons and they would use them.

A dead Pole cannot fight back and have you forgotten that Russia invaded Poland three times in the 20th centuary and only stopped occupying in 1991?

Putin wants to reinstate the Russian Empire - which includes Poland. They didn't seem to have any problem with doing so before.

Wake out from your western fantasy, the reality is that if Poland left Nato Russia would invade and occupy Poland immediatly to restore its border.

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

Poland has nothing that Russia wants.

Russia wants Poland as part of Russia. You are incredibly naive to think that Nato is a threat to Poland, without Nato Russia would reoccupy its former empire. Its purpose is to provide a buffer zone to fight a war.

Russia's plans was nuclear annilation for Poland - the Russia father land would escape. Nuking all neutral capitial cities to destroy their 'culture'.

Even 7 years ago they were planning a nuclear attack on Warsaw followed by invasion

And today they are moving nuclear missiles into the Kaligrad enclave to threaten Poland

News / Poland -- Europe's only counterweight to Russia [271]

As I said, they want the a Russian/German border, they don't believe that any other countries exist in between.

Nato has move their border and created non-countries such as Poland and Ukraine.

This is not my 'opinion', if you beleive in an independent Poland you should read Russian views on the subject.

would you want a bunch of pikeys setting up camp across the road from you and $hitting on your doorstep.

Pretty much how Poland etc are viewed from Russia, installed by Nato

Poland should boot Nato and American forces / assets out of the country. Poland has nothing that Russia wants,

Except a border with German. Russia attitude towards the border countries is that they are part of Russia, they don't think Poland/Ukraine/Baltic states should exist.

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

(Linkedin does not count),

Sorry, in the UK at least LinkedIn is vital.

I have experiences as a Bank Teller, Research analysis, Technical support, and Software quality assurance.

Sounds pretty good. You may well find work in London with that and your arabic would probably be of great help.

However, the UK is leaving the EU and your future would be uncertain.

You will need a clean (and provable) criminal record.

That's why arranging a job BEFORE you go is so important.

Not being availabe for an interview, being out of country, would a big negative I think

News / Talks on re-polonising Pekao bank under way [58]

Don't tell me it's a feather in any country's cap if it doesn't produce a single make of car, if most banks and breweries have their HQs abroad and nealry all of the products on its market are produced and sold by foreign-owned firms.

From someone who pays tax in America.

Making the banks 'Polish', will have no effect whatsoever in improving the entrepreneurial spirit of Poland. Taxation and ZUS need to be reformed. Socialist party members removed from government owned companies which should be privatised (sell shares to the people)

So why attack the Polish govt for doing it, even though to the best of my knowledge they still haven't done so.

I didn't specifically attack the Polish government for doing it. Its a dangerous practice whoever does it.

You seem to be under the impression that you have to own a bank to control it whereas controlling the currency and the banks themselves is in the hands of the government, right now.

I always thought that only the commies did stuff like that.

No, all countries have done it, its dates back (at least) to Roman times, debasing the silver currency with base metals.

Every country is doing it now with QE
