Love / How to please Polish women? [216]

Hm, to put it in a more vulgar way: I read somewhere that a Polish girl falls in love with you the moment you have sex with her. Is this true?

Some part must be true as all the Polish chickadees I ever slept with, kept calling and texting me the days following. They would stop doing it once they noticed that I didn't reply or didn't answer the phone. Or made it clear that it was a one-off.

M-G (is not an *sshole like that, but one doesn't always want a relationship after a one night stand, you know)

Love / How to please Polish women? [216]

After the thread of how to please Polish men, I am curious on how to please Polish women. Since they are women and most women are very hard to please, I would like to know :)

Life / Charity In Poland (tradition and attitude towards door-to-door collecting) [19]

"Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy".

I know W.O.S.P. My ex loved this. When asked what it was, she gave me an explanation of about half an hour and when she was done, I asked her: "so it's charity?" She said yes.

And dont be a prick.

Like said, this was just a little stinge to provoke a discussion about the subject as I think this is an important item in any society.

50s when Poland was p*ss poor and still mountains of stuff went to Hungary, we didnt have it ourselves but found it for others.

Hm, truckloads of food and clothing went to PL in those decaded, coming from Catholic NL in order to help the poor Polish Catholics.

On the other hand 2005 tsunami didnt gather that much

Hm, that should change though. If they can find the funds to help their fellow Eastern Europeans, they should be able to find dough for ppl in need in other parts of the world.

Life / Charity In Poland (tradition and attitude towards door-to-door collecting) [19]

Don't know if I post this in the correct thread; we will see what the mods say.

With the event of the Tsunami this morning in Samoa I can imagine that in the Netherlands pretty soon there will be collections in order to raise funds for the victims.

I was just wondering how is this established in Poland? I mean in general: what is the tradition and attitude in PL towards door-to-door collecting for charities? Does this exist in PL, or is it more a thing on the TV? I mean: do they show a bank account number on which you can lodge money for a good cause? And what is your opinion on this?

M-G (curious)

There is no charity in Poland? Doesn't surprise me at all, I must say :)

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

Military SS formations

But they were not part of the Wehrmacht. Where as the perpetrators of Katyn were members of the Red Army. There is a difference.

Wehrmacht units were often supervising the transport trains to death camps.

Besides that I have serious doubts about this; how do you explain that the Sonderkommandos had to operate in a secretive way to keep their actions hidden from the Wehrmacht's eye?

Nazis also used their military
personnel, NOT hitmen

No they didn't. They used the Sonderkommandos, which you could compare to hitmen. In fact they had to proceed secretly in order to avoid the German army seeing what was happening as Hitler feared that they would revolt.

M-G (wonder why that was as he was so convinced of his own correctness)

I go with the war-crime. However, I am still not convinced that it's genocide. But I guess we will never find a definitive answer to that.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

Ok, suppose I have a truck full of machine guns. I park it in the middle of a market square somewhere. The market square is packed with ppl. I then get out the machine guns and shoot everybody there. Suppose also that nobody runs away and nobody is able to stop me. I shoot, say, 1200 ppl there. They are all part of the same nationality. I know this, because I have done research and I know that at that day at that time there are only members of that particular race/etnicity/religion. I succeed in my plan. 1200 ppl of the same group have been killed. What have I committed? Genocide or mass-murder?

Fact remains that the Soviets at Katyn did not aim to wipe out the Poles as a whole, which in my opinion makes it mass-murder, not genocide.

a national, ethnic, racial or religious grou

Where exactly does militairy personnel fit in?

lesser

Would not even be such a bad idea - they can rezone Bautzen and Cottbus to recreational parks. (Absorbtion park?)

Did the Soviets attempt to kill the entire Polish nation in Katyn? Don't think so, therefore it's not genocide. Did they do this based on racial issues? No, both are Slavic ppl and the Soviets wanted to weaken any future Polish state, should it re-emerge. This last bit means that they were kinda anticipating the Polish nation to live on (even the Nazis anticipated on that, only they saw a future role for the Poles as slaves, following the Lebensraum-principle), hence not to wipe them off the face of the earth like the Nazis tried with the Jews and the Ottomans tried with the Armenians. That, my friend, makes the events in Katyn mass-murder and not genocide. And in order to wipe out an entire nation, one usually has to kill 100.000's or millions. That's what the numbers stand for.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

Joe, you're going overboard here. There were approxiamately 960.000 Jews killed at Auschwitz and 140 to 150.000 Poles and 23.000 Roma Gypsies, according to Franciszek Piper. This is the most sophisticated number as Rudolf Höss told the interrogators Eichmann said it were about 2.5 to 4 million at Auschwitz. This number seemed too high, 960.000 to 1.1 million seems more appropriate.

Furthermore, if you say that Poles merrily murdered Jews then I can say that Jews merrily murder Palestinians - in much bigger numbers not to mention to this day on!

Thank God I am not an Israelian. Why do you go to such lengths to convince me that Poles have suffered more or less than the Jews did? The example of the boy with his mom's brains all over him is just what it is: an example, nothing more. It's an isolated incident meant to portray the cruelty with which the Poles were met. Don't come with the objectivity-thing you throw at me. You're not objective yourself, so don't expect others to be objective and in general I am more objective than you are as you constantly in all your posts try to prove that Poles were worst off than Jews. At least I try to balance as much as I can, but there are too many posters here who still put all the blame on the Jews in order to make it look like the Poles suffered more. Sometimes this gets annoying and yes, then I say something boldly as a counterweight. Funny how you never react like this when somebody claims again that the Jews owe it all to themselves. But maybe that's just the "objectivity" you propagate? Wonder why that is...Maybe because your slightly biased yourself?

M-G (check the time and day on which it was posted. Should give some clue)

Joe, I normally regard your contributions as valuable, however, now you are losing track, it seems (and I am forgiving you now for that silly remark earlier that Auschwitz produced only 47.000 victims). As I understand it, Katyn was Stalin's paranoid effort to effectively rid Poland of it's (militairy) talent and intelligence, should Poland re-emerge as a state. A state most likely to be hostile towards the USSR AND on the direct Western Border. By killing off the talent and intelligentia, PL would not be able to turn hatred into an effective/successful war.

And again: it was mass-murder and not genocide.

Also, Katyn is once again a brilliant example of Slavic Brotherhood, which is so often propagated here on PF.

News / The chances for Warsaw to become capital of eventual Slavic confederation? [183]

Serbia is object of partition, Serbs are demonized in media

I know all that, and I have always pitied her. But this is mainly the consequence of Milosevic's deeds and work. Understand that I don't want Serbia demonized or destroyed. Don't you think that being part of a larger context like the EU will have loads of benefits for Serbia? Serbia is fully capable of setting up a great infrastructure and become a well respected member of the European family, but she needs stimulation and help from friends. Don't you think this and the prosperity this will bring will be much better for Serbia than just being stubborn and fighting against just about anybody else while seeking assistance or sympathy from other countries like Poland, Russia, etc, who basically don't give a sh*t?

M-G (has some very good Serbian friends, by the way)

It would be simple anexion of Serbian lands in order to secure control over Serbians.

I insist because I wanted your personal view on things. Well, you gave that. But how do you explain that your government is actually having talks with the EU about the issue of joining? I am sure you are aware of the efforts of the Serbian government to have Serbia get rid of the "rogue-state" image Serbia has at the moment. A sure-fire sign they want to is the handing over of Serbian war-criminals to the international court in the Hague in recent years. And, once incorporated in the EU, Serbia cannot scr*w them anymore, because that would mean they would cut their own fingers. Why would the be so rebellious when most of the Serbs know that it's better to be part of the family than to go back to the patchwork of (small) states that can't stand each other and wars occur all over again?

Serbia shouldn't be alone, she should be part of a bigger picture. After all, all the mischief Serbia has caused in the past, was only because the felt alone all the time.

Seanus

Of course he is on that part. I know my history :) Yes, that's a good question as Croatia is scheduled to become part of the EU in 2012 as far as I know.

Thank you for your answer, Crow. But, tell me, what would your point of view be on Serbia joining the EU eventually? You know there have been talks about that already...

Seanus

Milosevic made even the Serbs see that one can go too far and then they kick them out, because that's what Serbs do :) They couldn't kill him like they did with a couple of kings, but it's the moral equivalent.

But that's a half-half situation which is not good for her. She obviously wants more from him than he is willing to give and eventually it'll all end in tears for her. Better to cut it off straight and let her look for someone who is genuinely interested in her instead of wasting her time with this guy. She deserves better than this.

Crow

Crow, my good man, pls tell me why you always completely ignore the fact that Poland is a member of the EU and that this very EU will never allow Poland nor any other Slavic state within her borders to form a confederation with non-EU members? Heck, even Serbia is considered to be a future member of the EU. And besides, you never gave me your opinion about a pssbl Serbian membership of the EU.

Another besides: so according to you, Europe is actually Slavic and all Western ppl are derived from them, so is their language? Do I understand that right?

'problems in his life' but dosn't explain what these are

That seems to be a Polish trait, don't know why, but it seems like that. I hate it when they tell you: "there is trouble" or "I'm feeling bad" without telling you WHAT is going on. Don't mention it at all if you don't want to say what it is, that's what I would do anyway. Why don't you leg away from him? It seems clear that there is something else going on in the background, something you don't deserve.

but Jews made the holocaust theirs so everyone can feel sorry for them

Marek, stop this while I still respect you. 6 million is no comparison to 40.000, ok?

And tell me, what did PL learn? Except for complaining that the whole world treated them so badly?

Ps: tell me also what's wrong with the Poles that they even have to draw the drama of the Holocaust into the entire discussion, only to end that the Poles were worst off and not the Jews? How dare they say that they have been treated worse than the Jews in WW2? How dare they? Just let me make it very clear: Poles were NOT worse off than the Jews were. Not by far. And to be gross: you Poles went merrily on killing Jews, even after the war was over. How dare you Poles say that you were worst off than the Jews. Anyone who says that, should be put into prison or something. Even today I get called "Jew" by some Polish b*stard and they add to it that I would be better off dead. You tell me, Marek, you Poles should be ashamed of that. Just ashamed, instead of finding excuses. It's all so simple.

that the Soviets had a genocidal policy against Poles

Oh come on. Pls. Get over it. "Gee, we were glad the Jews were all killed, so that would make room for us, poor Poles who have been lending money from the Jews for centuries and just as it was time to pay back, the nazis came and wow, they killed them all! But then those evil soviet guys came and kicked our *sses. And now the entire world owes us!"

Who gives a f*ck outside Poland? I am sure not many ppl.
