News / Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)? [288]

Yes this year there will be no visa for Poles comming to Canada.

actually it's "no need for a visa" as there is no visas to USA.

you know whats so funny.. the cannucks live in canada but shop in the USA>>
work in the USA and Drink in the USA>> maybe you dont live so close to the bridge?

bridges..

and it's way, way cheaper here.. i know a few canadians that everytime they drive from one coast to the other, they do so through US because the gas is so much cheaper here and it ends up being quite the saving.

The other way we would have many Polish illegals looking for a job who would have no chance of finding one, as the illegal job market here is dominated by the Mexicans.

oh, there are plenty of illegal poles here.. believe you me.. and lately it's probably been about 8/10 that i run into.

I should mention that our cultures do bear many similarities though. Still, do you agree that our attitude towards immigration (generally speaking) are different?

yes, because nobody is running or swimming or driving their junk into canada for work.

And what South Americans would this be? :P

look at the map... there are a lot of countries in central and south americas (both are just the south in the US)

I don't see this ever happening.

why.. reciprocal punishment has been dealt against americans since post 9-11 as america got a little crazy about security.

And screw the States anyway, come to Canada, we value our immigrants,

yes the polish guy at the vancouver airport last year, just loved the welcoming committee.

USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

very easy in chicago. just go in with the money and photos, fill out the paperwork there, know your PESL (which you prob don't have but they'll figure it out) if you need a passport within the next 6mo get the temp one (extra pics and U$50-75..) check the site.. it's all in there.

then you'll get a letter sometime when they have a new one ready for you.. you will have to go in person to retreive it although they never checked my ID. if you live really far away they MAY send it to you.(extra $)..

if you do not speak polish, the whole thing may be a completely different experience.

It is very hard to accomplish anything with a polish consulate. It's a joke. Forget about returning a call...and they are supposed to take care about polish citizens abroad. Ha!

i have to agree.. completely 180 from what US consulates do for their citizens. but in person it was no hassle at all.. the soldiers (security) even helped me and got me the right forms and all.. i expected a completely different experience.

i was in very similar situation to magda but i did have a very, very old passport.

If you travel on a Polish passport, you will need to get a visa for a re-entry to the US.

are you sure? i have not been able to find that info anywhere and need to know for sure.

Try calling the embassy or write them a certified letter with your questions. They will answer letters. E-mails they don't always reply to.

nope, go in person. you won't get the full story. if you're in SE MI, the consulate will have an event there in the near future.

History / What was the culture of Poland prior to the advent of Catholicism? [17]

I don't know if Poland is considered Slavic

lol.. it is. poland became christian in 966. prince mieszko1 was baptised then. prior to that slavs were barbarians, basically. even to this day some old pagan traditions continue. the christmas tree being one of them.

USA, Canada / What do Polish people think of the USA [287]

I think Connecticut is very clean,

VT and NH even more so. Mass seemed clean too but Springfield is rather nasty.

USA, Canada / What do Polish people think of the USA [287]

Less ******* in Canada lol my bad .. I mean black people

that has abolutely nothing to do with it.

KY may be dirty more than Indiana in some of the cities , however , they are exempt because they make important beverges there!! Bourbon comes to mind and then of course the best home distilled in the country

seagrams7 is made in indiana.

just because they make the booze doesn't mean it's ok for them to be trashy.
