Guys, be reasonable. Poland will never reach Greek levels of debt.

In 1980, the debt accounted for 9.8% of national income and interest repayments of 2-3%. Currently, debt accounts for about 40% of GDP

According to Marek Belka, Gierek debt in 1980 accounted for 200% GDP of that time. Polish debt today is the fifth of the current GDP, so there is nothing to worry about. The conclusion that follows from the considerations Belka is at least shocking: GDP in 2010 is twenty times higher than in 1980. Why are you so worried: complete luxury. The rest of the so-called. bank economists participating in the discussion in "Gazeta Wyborcza" are not so very optimistic, but all in all they also suggest not to mind the current Polish debt. But how it really looks like the current debt?

News / Failures of Poland and Tusk`s government [191]

It is mindboggling that the prime minister of a country can act in a manner so contrary to its national interests.

Tusk wants to become a new European Commission president after Barroso. It is his personal ambition as well as a way to stop any possible judicial action againts himself in Poland after people eventually decide to get rid of him. He won't become a new EC president without the blessing from Germany and France. Go figure.

In 2014 years becomes vacant the Chair of the European Commission . EPL would put Donald Tusk as a candidate for the position.

Christian Democratic European People's Party ( EPP ) is considering issuance of Donald Tusk as their leading candidate in next year's elections to the European Parliament - wrote in the latest issue of the German magazine " Der Spiegel " .

News / Poland braces for economic slowdown [30]

True that running up debt is madness, but what country doesn't have a deficit?

Life / Why do people think that Poles are culturally isolated? [126]

I don't understand why you think every Angol that comes on here is attacking Poland. Most are interested in Poland for various reasons. You kind of put people off.

yes he does put off people, he's doing Poland a big disfavour with his writing

History / Ducal Prussia 1525 - 1660 [4]

Ducal Prussia was very independent from the beginning and during the Swedish-Polish wars it acted as if it not were the fiefdom of Poland. During the deluge they actually sided with the Swedes. then switched sides quickly when it was apparent that the Swedes are loosing ground.

Travel / The Magnificent Beauty of Nature's Landscapes in Poland [44]

Interesting by the way, that the Błędne Skały labyrinth above is actually in the Czech Republic and that you can (have to?) hike in from Poland to see it.

Skalni Mesto (Rock Town/City) which is in the Czech Republic is more impressive than Błędne Skały which is in Poland.

News / Polish people's criticism of European Union [104]

I found this amusing today:-

it will be anything but amusing when they reach the conclusion that we need to pay a lot of money back to Brussels - there have already been voices long ago that Polish road construction projects are run without respect to the EU rules and that we could be made to give the money back

Tusk government's new success - GMO crops in Poland

BANNING ILLUSION - how GMO is introduced to Poland?

When interpreting the most beneficial for the Poland current government promises, we have this situation:
In the new law on seeds, the Council of Ministers issues a regulation prohibiting the cultivation eg of genetically modified maize MON810, and the Minister shall inform the European Commission. This regulation also must be supported by a majority of the EU Council of Ministers and approved by the Commission .... which is unrealistic. In addition, the rejection of the application / regulations at this stage completes the procedure and it is a final decision.

pawian:
Most Greeks are still relaxed. They have experienced bigger predicaments in their history. :):):

Greek public sector workers went on strike in protest against new austerity movements and planned layoffs. Public transportation does not work, flights was canceled, schools and taxes offices are closed. This is another from September 24-hour strike action in protest against benefit reductions and tax increases, which international creditors demanded from the authorities in Athens in exchange for financial assistance.

this is how relaxed the Greeks are

To make matters worse, the consumption of sugar in Poland is higher that our production and we regularly have to import about 200.000 tonnes each year.

the quotas were negotiated by the SLD government on our accession into the EU - in effect sugar in Poland is more expensive than sugar in Germany - and we are talking about poor country - there is a lot we need to renegotiate with the EU in order to keep our agriculture afloat - for example the amount of direct payments to our farmers which are two times lower than in Germany or France - this alll by the way shows that sycophant policies don't work - you have to bend over and take it and in the end and it doesn't feel good

News / Poland blocks any action on climate change [569]

However, on closer examination it is seen that CO2 lags an average of about 800 years behind the temperature changes-- confirming that CO2 is not the primary driver of the temperature changes.

in other words CO2 was not the factor of warming from the ice ages but the rising levels of CO2 were the results of warming, which is not surprising when you think that colder oceans retain more CO2 than warmer oceans

gumishu: what is more the ice core samples show no simplistic if any correlation between CO2 levels and global temperature
That is the absolute opposite of the truth.

sciencemag.org/content/283/5408/1712.short - here's your perfect correlation (there are considerable lags between CO2 levels and glaciatons deglatiations)

evidently better than you since you've cited something that doesn't in any way contribute to the discussion or have any bearing on the one undeniable fact

you can't understand what you read evidently - the link reads in short as follows: there are positive and negative feedbacks to rising CO2 driven global warming in the atmosphere and that scientists currently don't know which are stronger - which leaves the possibility for null CO2 driven global warming due to negative feedback from water vapour - global warming can be caused then by something completely different to the rising of CO2 levels

what is more the ice core samples show no simplistic if any correlation between CO2 levels and global temperature

UK, Ireland / How long will Poles use communism and ww2 as an excuse to move to the UK? [55]

You've had 10 years of EU funding

8 years - in 2006 all new EU members cost an average citizen of the old EU 26 euro - not much i would say - and you claim that Poland should be richer because of this funding (in the year 2006 you personally have paid 26 euros divided by 80 million into my personal pocket (theoretically)) - lots of that money returned to old Europe anyway

Usually blaming the commie past (which their leaders fully embraced)

the leaders you mention were all brought to Poland by Moscow and established there on Russian bayonets

News / Poland blocks any action on climate change [569]

can you read? i provided a link which is crucial to the understanding of whether there is a negative or a positive feedback involved in co2 levels rise and global warming

Somehow, I prefer scientific consensus to the opinion of an internet troll...

it somehow looks like you cannot think for yourself and must rely on people to tell you what you should believe in

have anyone ever heard of the effect of clouds on the Earth albedo??? the c02 warming is self-defeating becasue the more warming there is the more evaporation from the oceans occurs and the more evaporation the more clouds there are
