Work / Moving to Poland from Iceland (salary of 6500 pln a month) - can I build a house? [25]

Many people do. I think mostly in proximity of big cities with better jobs. If 6500 is net then it looks much better. I think that as a foreigner you may be a little discriminated by banks, for example by requirement to finance 30% from your cash and only 70% by loan. Also I think that it's not the best idea to start live in a new country from house building. Live there a little first.

Work / Moving to Poland from Iceland (salary of 6500 pln a month) - can I build a house? [25]

Of course it is crazy. If you couldn't limit your expenses to save at least half of this amount in 15 years living in the country with over 2 x higher salaries than in Poland, then how are you going to pay it back here?

But you can afford something cheaper:

Life / Cost of living in Wroclaw (rent price too) [119]

what I want to know is can I have a decent life with this salary and earn some money for "ex: travel, buy somethings, have bank credit to have some stuff...etc" let's say to live as human ;)

Actually you've got an answer. It's nearly double average salary. So you will be ok and if your wife can find a job then you will be quite well. (but probably she won't)

If you say that in Africa you have higher salary, then mind that also prices may vary, thus purchasing power may be much different than nominal salary indicates. Compare Wroclaw to capital of your country (usually there is more data for capital): numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp

With wife working you should be easily able to save some money. If she's not, then you will have to put an effort to save for a trip to Africa. No sense for more question, because people spend money differently and have various needs. What can be a lot for one is a little for another.

Life / Cost of living in Wroclaw (rent price too) [119]

It's above average, so if you come from 3rd world country, you will be happy, but if you come from western Europe, then you'll be struggling especially that there is not so much need for Biologists and Chemist in Poland, especially not knowing local language.

Work / Living in Katowice (programmer, 3000 PLN) - is it enough? [65]

But if you were earning 3400net in Netherlands and it is as I think above average salary, then you have chance for above average salary in Warsaw. And median Java programmer gets 10 000 pln gross, C++ 8000, database administrator 7000, web designer 8000. So earning 2000 eur net in Warsaw is possible and it's not so different from 3400 eur in Netherlands as long as you spend all this money in Poland. At least according to this website:

You would need around 8,308.67zł (1,977.15€) in Warsaw to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with 3,700.00€ in Amsterdam

Life / Lifestyle in Poland - what should we prepare for? [10]

tell us about yourself. you will get different advices if you your husband is Czech for example and different if he's Indian. Buy him whatever he likes. It's very easy it buy microsim. EUR is more common in Poland that USD. But if the intention is to come with USD or EUR and exchange it to PLN in Poland, then it doesn't matter which one of this 2 he has.

Work / Farming jobs in Poland? I've studied animal science in university, plenty of experience [9]

The farmer has to declare that he can't find Polish pickers. Then his declaration is checked in the regional unemployment office if it is true.

You're not right and Harry is correct.

Work / Living in Katowice (programmer, 3000 PLN) - is it enough? [65]

You can live sparingly with this money, but you will not save much. Regardless it's a normal salary for a programmer with not much experience in Kraków. Rent something short term through: airnb.com or lokalo.pl and when living in Katowice find something through gumtree.pl with help of some Pole (for example work college).

Real Estate / Restructuring of polish chf mortgage [42]

It's silly to complain on bank that it didn't inform about risk of currency fluctuation. Anyway in 2008 most of people were really sure that in 2011 Poland will have euro, and problem with fluctuation will disappear. Government also thought so. We were all observing Slovakia converting to euro, believing, that soon the same will happen with Poland. So the crisis is to blame too.

As for banks chasing debtor throughout the borders I think it's likely to happen when you mean EU borders. Probably it's not happening yet if you are sitting convenient in UK, but if they can charge for speeding tickets, why not for that. IMHO only out of EU country would be save.

Would it not be more beneficial to declare yourself bankrupt in Poland if you had a Polish mortgage?

I don't know details but personal bankruptcy law is nearly not existing in Poland. They introduced it few years ago I think and since then only dozen of people took advantage of it. There must be a reason for that.

Work / Salary for a senior software engineer in Poland [195]

Very good salary, taking into consideration, that the company will have to ask for Visa for you.
Take a look at this: 12000pln after deduction of income tax, health insurance, retirement and others gives 8427,87
You can live comfortable in studio apartment with 3000 - 4000 pln per month.

News / Quality of Life Index Poland 4th on a list of 10 European nations [18]

This articles quotes few meaningless words from some guy. The ranking itself is quite old - 2010:

uswitch.com/gas-electricity/news/2010/09/22/is-the-uk-really-one-of-the-worst-places-to-live-in-europe/

They have funny set of parameters and this is result.

On the other hand this predictions are interesting:

They say that according to PwC salaries in Poland in 2020 will reach 50% of average American salaries. I am skeptic of the data presented. For example Turkish salaries seems higher than in reality. What do you think about it?

Average salary per month in time:

Work / Young dutch graduate (social sciences at university level) - job prospects in Poland? [15]

But now at the moment, as currentle a lot people are unemployed, and employers can find the right people for a low price. But I don't know how the situation is in Poland, I've heard Poland is doing well economically

I think that there is bigger demand for native Dutch call center stuff in IT support than supply, but I don't know how easy it is to convince employer to teach somebody who has no idea about the topic. Take a look at this topic: https://polishforums.com/work/poland-dutch-speaker-native-experienced-66878/ I think that somebody on this forum was writing that is working with native dutch speakers in IT support.

Work / Young dutch graduate (social sciences at university level) - job prospects in Poland? [15]

Do you know what kind of salary prospects a job in a callcenter has? Maybe I can work in a callcenter, learn polish, and then look for a better job.

3000 - 6000 PLN net for native Dutch speaker I guess.

I am looking for professional experience. Something like finances or IT,

Is your education related in any way to IT or Finances?

Study / My experience in Poland (Poznan) as a student who recently moved from Syria [117]

And really, I never saw a coin used.

Of course. After it lost all it's value (probably aluminum was worth more than 0.01 Grosz) I've only heard it being used for washers or recently for scams. Here somebody payed for shopping with old 100zł coin:

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

I understand, that two years back, the average cost of living for a single guy was around 4-5k pln.

That impossible as average salary in Warsaw is probably around 5k - 6k pln. That's around 3.5k - 4.2k net. And people who earn average in Warsaw are able to save some money.
