History / Endecja - State Sponsored Anti Semitism 1935 - 1939. [138]

Ooooo I think you may have stumbled upon a section of history the "historians" may have wanted to be swept under the carpet and forgotten about ;)

Happy discussing ;)

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

I am bored with it to be honest

It was something that would annoy me a little, more of a stupid stereotype than anything else.

it appears that you have too.

Generally at the pub or at my work here. More worrying sometimes from my students in Poland :/

but you agree that sometimes its not our/his/her/their fault or are you another self-made man who naively thinks that will never have a bad luck in life?

I kinda agree with both. I'm not saying in all cases one person or factor is to blame, but to blame it on a generalisation about one "group" of people is just silly.

I'm not saying that Poles didn't have it bad. I'm saying (for about the millionth time on these forums) that if they would stop blaming others and move on from the past then they would have such better prospects for the future of Poland.

One of the reasons Jews are so unwelcome in Poland now is that there are many Poles hoping to inherit a house from their elderly relatives...that they ain,t gonna get if the decendants of the rightfull owners show up...!

Very good point! Much of Kaz was taken over by Poles, when I was last in Krk there was a big hoo haa about Jews returning to claim what were theirs in the first place.

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

I wonder what would happen to Poles if there were no Jews to blame for Polish shortcoming?

Gypsies....

Don't you love the Polish anti-jew crap :) Makes me laugh every time I hear the whole "all the Jews stole all our money".....so what happened after WWII, was there secret Jew colonies under the ground still doing it?

Problem with the Poles is that they can't admit to having their asses banged over :DBlame them, blame him, blame my neighbour, blame anyone as long as we can believe in the lie that it could never be our fault! Cry babies :D

Poles are thieves! Foreigners shouldn't go to Poland. Poles will steal you and put you into their pockets! :O

Dirty buggers!

Travel / Poland-My 9-day experience [239]

The correct side for driving is on the left, that way you have your sword arm free to defend against attacking thieves(otherwise known as Carp snatchers).

Work / Moving for TEFL job to Poland, what can I expect? [12]

I just want to balance things out a little. I loved village life in Poland, both in Kantorowice and in Kolbuszowa. Though I enjoy that laid back way of life in general. Can be a bit boring but you find things to do. Hiking, fishing, rallying ect!

Yes BEAUTIFUL!

Yes i know...but all these trees are well inside my land...they have to walk a few hundred metres over my land to get to them...

Land mines and bear traps my friend ;)

I second that!! Go in with an open mind and remember your guest status. Poland has so many good features and positive minds will see that :)

I third that ;) You cannot travel and live in any country unless you go with an open mind about what you will see and how you will fit in without it. You have to take each place as it comes, but never judge anything by only your first hand experience.

Life / What would YOU do to make life in poland better?? [72]

Da Grasso

Yes yes and yes! I loved that place, there was one at the bottom of my block. Later I found out during a lesson I was teaching the owner and he lived in the same block as me! Presto I had free pizza once a week for the duration of my time on Starowislna :)

1. Fire all grannies working in public institutions such as post offices, town halls ect.
2. Have separate carriages on trams for the old grannies to sit.
3.Remove all babka hats from shops.
4. Destroy the rule that old grannies can barge into the queue's in shops and skip ahead.

Work / Resignation fee in Poland - any way to avoid it? [21]

The rule is there basically to scare people, enforcing it is almost impossible unless the company has somehow paid for you, i.e agency, paid ur rent ect.

Dont worry about it.

To be honest, in Polish employment law its very hard to actually keep someone under contract. I doubt they would even take this further especially if you are a foreigner, did they pay ur rent for the whole year?
