Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

HAHAHAHA....can you say with a straight face you never see a Polish guy crying about something? That's what they do half of their waking hours!

Crying about his relationship...Thats what I meant

(why has the font gone really big and why have i got error messages at the top of the page all of a sudden - sorry to go off topic)

Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

I think that Polish people buy (and use!) more spices than only vegeta lol.

If you like your food over-powered with dried herbs...hmmm..personally, I prefer a good natrual stock or "fresh" herbs to enhance the flavour of my food.

And finally, it is much easier for western men to find "love" in poorer countries.

That tickled me...

well, not really. it's easier for any man with balls, quite rare commodity in poland.

Are you suggesting all the foreigners have balls? You should hear the pu*sywhipped ones that come on here crying about Polish girls!!! Strangely enough, never hear a Polish man crying.....

UK, Ireland / Brits to protest against foreigners in the workforce, including Poles. [289]

Did it ever count? Most EU countries definitely didn't count studying as time spent in the country.

Yes, the rules were changed a couple of years ago, only some of them where not aware of it, I work with a guy (a grad Engineer) who is from Maritious, he's pretty peeved he'll have to wait several years for his British passport, he doesnt necessarily want to stay here, but it means he'll be able to move freely within Europe when he does get it...sick!

No it wasn't, because you said that there's more money involved,

yet still the country is flooded by foreigner (non EU) students, they are simply more attractive because of the size of the fees they pay in comparison to the "home" students, they are big business for the universities.

Show me where I was wrong, I said that non EU students were more attractive!

They (the government) brag about how much non EU students bring in, in revenue to the country and that includes the tuition fees which are 3 times the amount (in some cases) to what a home student pays - look.... I have 3 people in my family (two brothers and a sister) who lecture, I think I know what Im on about!

I'd even close the door further and deny families coming unless the student is of exceptional value to the UK and should be encouraged to stay.

This is what they are in the process of doing, I personally think they should have to go home after they have finished and apply through the points based system from their own country, if there are jobs suitable then yes, if not, then no, there are less and less grad places each year because of the open market, young Brits are not getting a fair crack at the whip.

As for bringing families with them, I dont think they should be able to...if family members cant work, they aren't paying no tax, same as the student, if they bring kids with them, who is footing the bill for their education?

Things are changing slowly, simply because of the size of the population and the unrest about immigration, they should suspend all applications from several of the African countries too, they're all working far more hours than they are permitted, like you said, they shouldnt be able to work at all.

Not quite - the fees paid are actually the same, because...I can't remeber the name of the quango in question that pays it, but EU students are subsidised by the difference between the EU fee and the non-EU fee - so it works out the same.

I said that the "home" students which includes EU members, so I think it was "quite right"

But from a wishy-washy liberal perspective, the huge problem with non-EU students is that Asian ones in particular tend to form ghetto communities within universities - they simply don't integrate.

They only came because it was a way to get a passport..things have changed, their years as students no longer count towards time in the country..Many are just economic migrants who dont even study..get family to club to, to show they have money they dont actually have...if you looked at the link I provided regarding the new rules which come in to affect next year, this will put many of them off coming here, those that who are genuine will come, those who are not...wont (or simply wont be able to!)

UK, Ireland / Work/Trade Unions in UK - thinking about joining one [9]

I dont know a big lot about English unions but its always good to be in one.

Its a bloody farce in this country Barney, especially with one this size, bigger doesnt always mean better, my brother is a Union Rep and is finding it increasingly more difficult to be effective on peoples' behalf, simply because the way companies work these days (he works in the NHS everything is in black and white in the rule books so if the line is crossed they can remove a person - no problem!).

We also have so many laws in place to protect people "sexual harassment" "bullying" so you have rights even without having to have a Union Rep.

Also gone are the days where people will actually stage a walk out, good old cheap labour and agencies just step in! What can a Union do about that? People are not in the position in this country they were 20 / 30 years ago when Unions were effective.

USA, Canada / Most common ancestries in the USA [56]

Its negligible and..... unimportant to me or any other English person living on the Island...Who cares? They embraced a new life and now call themselves Americans, they just have "English" names ;0) They created a new country along with other immigrants, they just chose to embrace it to a higher level.

If you really want to, look at the track record of their union reps. Personally I wouldn't bother, unions have no sway whatsoever in this country these days, our governments have seen to that, you get your rule book when you start a job, if you break the rules you are out, nothing the Union can do for you, if a company decides to change your contract, they will have already had legal people look at how they can do it to get round you being able to kick off...honestly...dont bother...

USA, Canada / Most common ancestries in the USA [56]

Maybe the English ones prefer to accept themselves as American rather than the "German American or Irish American" No big deal, its nice to see that the fouding fathers accepted their home and made it their own and dont feel the need to cling on to being English. (no marks about the Native Americans, we all know that was wrong!)

A job, exactly. That could be sth scabby and unfitting!

No, its has to be comparable, they couldnt give you a job as a cleaner if you were the PA to the MD, they also have to offer flexible working conditions when returning to work.

Well, I would like him to make clear...if he can't be bothered, I will take a word of his spokesman regarding his intentions:)

I think I was closer to what he meant than Sheep...

brown English

There isnt any brown on the map, does that mean there are no people in American with English ancestry?

English Americans (occasionally known as Anglo-Americans, although this may have a wider linguistic meaning) are citizens of the United States whose ancestry originates wholly or partly in England. According to American Community Survey in 2008 data, Americans reporting English ancestry made up an estimated 9.0% of the total U.S. population,[1] and form the third largest European ancestry group after German Americans and Irish Americans. However, demographers regard this as an undercount as the index of inconsistency is high, and many, if not most, people from English stock have a tendency to identify simply as Americans[...]

I thought that everyone was guaranteed a place at university these days.

Then you thought wrong, there have been massive cuts in higher edcutation, yet still the country is flooded by foreigner (non EU) students, they are simply more attractive because of the size of the fees they pay in comparison to the "home" students, they are big business for the universities.

Except of course those incredibly "thick ones" who get a place anyway and do "sports theory"

Nearly as bad as those who did phycology :D

they give them degrees after they pay generous

They pay the same as a British person, so they are not paying generously, the fees are not too bad, Engineering degree is only about £2,000 a year, hardly big bucks for the kind of career you can achieve after studies. Also if Greeks are so smart, why is you country such a shithole?

The company has to keep your job open? Prove it,

Since this thread is about Britain, maybe he took it as red that you would think he meant Britain, where a company does have to keep "a" job open for you, it doesnt not have to specifically give you the job you left, if things within the company have changed.

I've seen many british people in the same position, the reality is there isn't and hasn't been enough work for people graduating from university.

You'll see less next year because there are less places, you'll have more 18 year olds looking for work simply because they cant get places at British universities, break their backs and study hard for 12 years only to be told...sorry not enough places!

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8472071.stm

The rise in the number of overseas students accepted was 10.1%, up from 51,603 to 56,791.

Time to limit foreign students too me thinks why should we educated foreigners and leave our own out in the cold let them study in their own countries!

Step in the right direction, but not enough!

How odd I consider you a simple guy too.....

People generally move to countries for work or because of relationships...simple..thats what keeps people there!

well, maybe if you're from uk everywhere is better

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS SO SPECIAL LIVING IN U.K [90]

Not for much longer at the rate pubs are shutting down.

More micro brewerys than ever before...so there's more choice of beer than there was even though there are less pubs.

Whats so special about England...We have beautiful countryside, lovely lakes (if you like sailing), fab canal water ways (narrow boats and smaller sailing boats) and excellent venues for bands! So if you like the outdoors or like gigs...you've cracked it...not that many Poles experience this side of England, they're stuck living in shitholes with the rest of the immigrants complaining about the weather and about the food here...

We're also less judgmental, people tend to get on with it without judging people by how they dress or what they look like....

its looks to me a little ominous

Maybe he meant that one day your country will be over-run with foreigners and it might peeve you a little bit when agencies are set up in Ukraine (or places where labour costs are lower) to directly employ Urkrainians (other others) rather than Poles even being given the chance...or your business will be exported to places where labour is cheaper...who knows..its swings and roundabouts...Only time will tell...

Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

and are you sure you're not saying that just because you're a bit jealous?

No, Im saying it because they look cheap and slightly rough, post a picture of a pretty Russian female dressed demurely (similar to Carla Bruni) and I'll be happy to make positive comments. Until then Im more than happy to make negative ones about rough looking slappers with their legs wide open....Not a good advert for Russian women!

Australia / Finding work on Prospective marriage visa, Melbourne ( subclass 300 ) [30]

He means more paperwork for the company, why would they bother when they can employ someone who is a citizen...no hassle for them.

I can understand your frustration, but maybe you should have applied for jobs before you landed there and maybe got some company to sponsor you? Would have been a lot easier all round.

Work / Working on Spouse Visa/Residency Permit from home for Non polish company [3]

Im pretty sure it only gives you rights to work in countries that your wife is residing and working in and only europeans countries that have a full open door policy for Poles which is not the whole of the EU. Your visa is for Poland not the whole of Europe, Until you have spent the 4 years of whatever it is before you can apply for your passport, you cant travel as freely as you might think on your own.

UK, Ireland / Brits to protest against foreigners in the workforce, including Poles. [289]

Manchester has really improved since I was there. Mind you that was twenty years ago.

City centre yes, nice suburban areas have been trashed with mass migrants from African countries...about 4 years ago I walked through Piccadilly on my way home it was like down town Lagos (this was over night), Manchester city council had to take their quota (redistribution of assylum seekers etc), that along with legal resettlement programmes, the UK is getting more immigrants than anywhere...

20 years is a long time...no wonder you thought the Village was provincial :D :D :D You really should pay it a visit...I dont go there that much these days but when I do, there's always a few Polish accents :D

Chorlton's nice!

Chorlton Green, Horse and Jocky...fond memories :D There are loads of nice little bars there now and still go over occassionally...I moved back over to the North side...better class of people ;0)

i don't like that they are also against immigration from Poland, but they will never be able to stop that, so no problem.

They could and would, they could put restrictions on your "free" movement - look at bulgarians..Im sure they could reverse what this government has done..

They aren't growing. A few mid-term votes in depressed areas. Hardly "cabbage".

Gaining seats in the last elections tells me something different...There are plenty of middle class DM readers who would vote for them simply because they hate what Britain has become - its a dangerous thing, personally even with some of my views, I wouldnt dream of voting for them...

Yes. It is successful.

Not really Jonnie, there are Ghettos in England now, you know Manchester, look at places like Moss Side, once afluent and then turned in to tish holes...I could name many more places too...Lets not forget the race riots - the first wave of immigrants "sort of" intergrated, but the more that arrived the less they integrated they formed their own little communities and its even worse today than its ever been, there are areas I wouldnt walk in after dark...Where I live can happily walk home from a friends at mid night and not worry...I lived in Whally Range for 12 months and wasnt comfortable going out on my own in day light! There were 2 drive-by shootings in the time I lived there...Whalley Range was also a very afluent area before certain minorities came along and trashed it...I think thats why they keep the house prices in Chorlton so high :D

what do you make of us(?)?

You all smell of cheese and walk funny...but I suppose having a backpack strapped to your back 24 hours a day could do that to a man :D

why did this die a death?

Not controversial enough? oh dear..I thought my comments of Polish men smelling of gouda cheese would be enough to stir up a frenzy! Evidently not, only Polish women who are not smelling of roses are cause for concern!

when one is successful there is always possibility that someone out there will take it personally.

I dont understand, do you mean she took it personally or he took it personally? Do you believe that because she is in the profession she is in, people have the right to approach her whenever they like?

Ah....misogynist as well Joe?

bleh, what an ugly skin and bones :/

She is naturally skinny, some women are, she also has the added pressure of having to conform to what the media say looks good...English women cant win, either too thin or too fat! FFS!

maybe he was just trying to feed her?

Maybe he tried to invade her personal space! After this who can blame her for reporting him!

Food shortages? Where? There's certainly no shortage of food in the UK...

Shows how little you know, we are struggling to produce to meet demand, hence the reason we are importing so much more and before you throw in that its because our farmers are lazy blah blah blah thats rubbish:

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1024833/Nine-meals-anarchy--Britain-facing-real-food-crisis.html

Margaret Thatcher, Buy-to-let and the unwillingness of the British public to see flats as being an acceptable choice to live in once you pass a certain age.

Flats are a totally acceptable way of life and always have been, families have been living in high rise for decades, city living is a relatively new thing, but its not only singles and now its couples that are chosing to live this way...By-to-let just ruined communties and has dragged what where nice areas down...any old scum can get the DHS to pay for a nice house in a middle class area (it took my parents months to complaining to get rid of the ***** and her disgusting brood who lived next door to them!).

an extra 10p on income tax should see plenty of job creation...

LOL...I already pay more than Im happy with and yet you want to bleed me dry?

Wasn't an issue until what, 18 months ago? It'll cease to be an issue again within a couple of years.

No it wont, we were an industrial nation, then we became a nation of service providers, now we have nothing...You explain to me how if you continue to export jobs it will cease? Whilst we have more and more immigrants flocking here, we are losing jobs daily.

regarding the above link, they closed all the stores so the figures were much higher!

I could go on Delph but I wont because you clearly have no clue as to the situation in the UK and how bad things really are...and in my opinion things are set to get even worse...had a chat with a friend who works for a company that do concrete moulding, even though they have just won contracts for new prisons to be built they are still putting lists together for those "at risk"...

Immigration at times is necessary, but at the moment its not, we dont even have enough places at our universities:

The BNP are a racist organisation Ukip are not

I think you will find that UKip are polite racists (you know the different between someone saying look at that nig*er and someone saying oh look at that coloured chap), they want to shut the doors and stop immigration, as do the BNP, why do you think they both did so well in the last elections?

The idea that the left are somehow immune to racism or the impact of migration is to nicely pigeon hole the problem.

So do you suggest we over-populate our Islands and encounter the same problems as these 3rd world immigrants left? Housing shortages, food shortages, job shortages, huge demand for schools and hospitals (of which we are already struggling)...The whole aging population debate is a lie, Poland have done okay for decades without mass immigration so have other countries....

Thousands of workers from building sites, power plants and oil refineries will join the protest.

Good for them! About time...Thats all I have to say, a friend of mines' husband got laid off from a firm he'd worked for for years - his wife had just had twins, she had a good job but was on mat leave...he was told that the work simply wasnt there (this was about 18 months ago) and he was told by a mate that still worked there, that he had been replaced by Poles! cheaper....Im not anti Polish but the situation of our open door policy has ruined the standard of living of people with families, which has already stated by Jocklorc can be hard enough when you have a mortgage and a family and not sharing a house with 5 other blokes! To Delph...You really are a prick!
