Work / English speaking tradesmen in Poland [8]

Well horse, I'm here a few years, don't know much about the trades industry tbh I wouldn't move here without being able to speak Polish. I had to teach for a while b4 I finally got out of it and got a decent job. But things like plumbing and that, I think you might find it pretty hard to get a gig unless you can speak the lingo.

Or you could teach for a while, do a CELTA course before moving here, then as you're teaching learn the lingo and then go back to plumbing.

Life / Poland's expats' colonial mentality? [176]

Now perhaps the term 'ugly expat' would be more appropriate.

How he is not banned for such obvious trolling & flaming?

Life / First communion - it's that time of year again in Poland! [109]

Whatever

good point.

Was Beethoven a genius

FYP

Is murder wrong?

Yes, manslaughter can be ok depending on the situation.

Is abortion a sin?

No, sin doesn't exist.

Who is to say?

Society as a whole.

Grasping at straws

You in a nutshell ;)

which research has said the contrary anyway

BS, show us some decent peer reviewed research to prove your nonsense.

And I hold there has not been morality in any society without religion or even group

Again, bullsht. Have you never witnessed altruism in animals?

what would make an parent endorse any system at all in their children instead of letting them be teh dangerous, quirky , murderous narcissits they would be without restrcitions. Why bother accepting a law?

So, you think that's it's perfectly fine to murder, but you don't because you're afraid of a boogy man in the sky?

You don't actually think that murder is wrong and everybody has the right to life?

They don't see in the word genius the same transcendent and metaphysical essence that i do

I presume your farts don't smell also?

So to sum up evolution is impossible, in your view, because it 'comes up' from lesser animals, but it's more likely that it came down from a god.

Cool story bro.

Your understanding of evolution is laughable at best.

there is only a descent from a supreme eternal principle, beyond which lies nothing.

hahaha, wow, just wow.
The sun also revolves around the earth and the earth is flat.

If

od is compelled to obey the laws of his own nature

then why can't he break those laws, if he cannot then he's really obeying the laws that were set out for him by someone else....and who would that be??? the answer is obviously Man. Man made the rules for your god to live/create by.

Please do more research into what your religion has stolen from earlier religions, you'll soon realise that it's all nonsense. Your mind is closed, you need to open it.

It stems directly from God

No, it doesn't

If we get our morals from a god, are they moral because a god says they are or because a god is bound by them? If a thing is moral because a god says a thing is moral then this god could say that raping and killing a 2 year old child is moral and it would then be good. If god cannot say this then this god is bound by outside moral laws controlling the god, which asks the question then, where did these morals come from that control the god? If god told you to rape and murder babies would you? If you found out a god did not exist would you then rape and murder babies?

Unless one suffers from sever confirmation bias and self delusion it is clear by the logic above that morals are inherent in humans with a range of flexibility in application.

This type of thoughts is what lead to each and every of the greatest massacres of the 20th century.

So you're argument is that reading Crime and Punishment will make you commit massacres?
It's not a great book I adint, but it's not that bad :P

let's blame Christianity for everything

That would be unfair, all religions should be blamed.

Yet, all western morality comes from Christianity

No, it doesn't. Anyone who has studied history to a secondary school level know that it mostly comes from the ancient Greeks, however, The Celts, Vikings, Romans, Byzantians, Picts, Greeks, Trojans etc were all around along time before the Christians came along.

The Aztec, The Inca etc

There's people had no morals in your opinion?
All of them?
Really?
Complete and utter nonsense Kon, I recommend you watch some documentaries. And indeed watch some on how Christianity stole most of its traditions from older religions. ie. the "virgin' birth, The Egyptian son-God, Mithra (whose feast day was...surprise, surprise December 25th)......later named Jesus,

Krshna, Mithra of Persia, Quexalcote of Mexico, the Chinese savior Xaca, Ya, the Chinese monarch, Plato, Pythagoras, Tamerlane, Gengis Khan, Apollonius of Tyana and Augustus Caesar, were all supposed to have been the product of immaculate conceptions.

Krshna, Mithra of Persia, Quexalcote of Mexico, Chris of Chaldea, Quirinus of Rome, Prometheus, Osiris of Egypt, Atys of Phrygia, all rose from the dead after three days.

At the birth of Confucius, five wise men from a distance came to the house, celestial music filled the air, and angels attended the scene.

The Sacrament or Eucharist was practiced by the Brahmins of India, and was introduced into the mysteries of Mithras, as well as among the Mexicans.

The concept of the 'Trinity' is Hindu. The Sanskrit term is 'Trimurti', meaning 'three bodies in one godhead'. In the Hindu trinity, it was Siva; the other members of the trinity being Brahma and Vishnu. [sidebar: In the Mexican trinity, Y Zona was the Father, Bascal the Word, and Echvah the Holy Ghost, by the last of whom Chimalman conceived and brought forth Quexalcote.

Your religion is based on nonsense, learn this and be set free.
articles.exchristian.net/2003/04/is-christianity-based-on-pagan-roots.php

And there can be no morality, or for that matter, civilisation, without religion.

Nonsense, so every person that existed before organized religion was immoral? Ha, Bullsh¡t.

Fear of God is the only legitimate morality

So you only follow God because you're afraid of him? A lot of Germans had a similar excuse following WWII. If you follow the teaching because you life in fear of a mythical being then what kind of life can you really have. You must be afraid of you own shadow.

What do you do ?

I think the best thing to do would be abolish communion for kids, let them make their own decisions when they are old enough. Take religion completely out of the schools and if parents want their kids to be religious let them teach them themselves.

I certainly won't be baptising my kids and they won't have communion or confirmation. I was made to do all these things and I won't make my kids go through the nonsense.

If they grow up and want to be religious I'll have no problem with that, but it'll be their decision and their's alone.

Life / First communion - it's that time of year again in Poland! [109]

and goes against the whole idea of the First Communion

I'd rather party than think about the cannibalistic things that it actually (disgustingly) stands for..........also the Christian robbed this tradition from an earlier Egyptian religion anyway, so it's completely null and void for me.

I've been asked to one this year here in Poland, but there's no way in Hell I'm stepping inside a church. Polish church services last for ages, why so long??? When I was a kid, (parents used to make me go), if mass lasted longer than 25minutes the priest would get a complaint............ I'll give the kid a card with cash for sure. There's no way he'd be happy if he got a bible. He's communion age, kids in Poland can't even read properly at that age :P

Plus he can buy a gift he wants with the money...if that's a silver cross then OK, his money, but I reckon it'll be an xbox game or a football jersey. Both far more useful than a bible, unless you run out of paper to light a fire. (^_^)

Anyone with common sense certainly would follow the teachings of the Church

.....errr.............nope :P
Sheeple follow those teaching.

News / Negative Polish stereotypes in US 'changing for the better' [20]

Simply tune in to radio stations in New York and hear more and more Americans, for example, able to pronounce the name of Tadeusz Kosciuszko

This 'professor' sounds a bit crazy, does he expected people to believe that Americans call New York radio stations to talk about a Lithuanian man who enjoyed fighting so much he became a mercenary in the American War of Independence?

The vast majority of NY radio stations play music, they do not talk about such trivial things as Pan Kosciuszko.

But, if the headline is true, that of course is a good thing.

Work / Is it possible to live on 2200zł a month in Poland (teaching position) [13]

No, it's not possible to live here on that wage, tell them to add 1000zl to it and then you might think about their crap offer.

They're ripping you off before you even start, plus they won't pay you for holidays, bank holidays nor include health insurance or social insurance etc.

Love / A Polish wedding for a typical couple getting married in Poland [11]

Is there anything you typically give a couple getting married in Poland?

Money, lots of it.

Do you throw confetti?

First fulls of small change. 1grz, 2 grz, 5 grz. etc
Outside the church after you give them good wishes and the magic envelope of cash you can throw coins over the couple and they must pick them all up for good luck.

Get practising on drinking vodka ;)

Law / Do I really need an accountant when I'm self-employed? [16]

the polish law says that you must have an accountant.

But what if you're already an accountant, do you have to get another accountant? And does that accountant have to get another and another? Maybe that's why Poland is flooded with accountants.

Just messin, you don't need an accountant, if you have a calculator and can understand the tax returns form (which nobody can, seeing as it's written in that strange formal Polish) then you can do it yourself.

Travel / Best way to get from Lodz to Warsaw? [48]

There's a PKS bus that would have you in Warsaw at 3.30, taxi to airport from there would have you in the airport in perfect time for the 2-hours-prior check in.

tiny.cc/uixwuw

But going from theses guy's prices
tanietaxi.pl and £odz to Warsaw bring 130km, it would cost you 150zl, plus whatever they charge for bags, pick up etc.
