Travel / Białowieża National Park in Poland [461]

So much for promoting agro tourism in my area , Its gonna be a bleak and horrid here soon

Welcome to the problem caused by the new laws on cutting trees.

You know fine well that Dolny Śląsk could be an agrotourism hotbed, but...cut the trees! more cash now!.

Travel / Białowieża National Park in Poland [461]

Lasy Państwowe (National Forestry) is a state within the state

I've got a friend who works for LP who says exactly the same thing. in He's disgusted by what was going on in Białowieża, and said from the very beginning that it was about cash and nothing more. I don't remember the numbers he gave, but LP has more than enough cash in reserve to pay every single forester in Białowieża to sit and do nothing.

influential friends among MPs from all political parties.

Wasn't Komorowski heavily involved with those circles too?

Language / Why is Polish such an ugly language? [22]

Polish is a very disorganized and messy language.

Is it? I think it's quite logical, and the case system makes it possible to be very precise, which isn't always possible in English.

More to the point, once you learn Polish, then other Slavic languages are open to you.

That's on purpose, it scares low IQ retards to settle in Poland.

It's interesting, but the vast majority of monolingual retards I've met in Poland have all been British or American. I bloody hate the excuse "it's too difficult".

Genealogy / Wieczorek family from the Kropiwki area [5]

I heard something about them. They were a family of peasants, who were known for their uncivilised behaviour at local hostelries. Nikon was known for drunken brawls, and his language was said to be very primitive and on the level of a 7 year old. He apparently would do a day's labouring, then would go out and get drunk. They moved around a lot, probably as a result of his penchant for violence.

Law / ZUS for owner (living in the UK) of a business in Poland [3]

For a limited company, ZUS is paid on salaries. So yes, if the person in Poland is paid, the company is liable for paying their ZUS contributions, both employer and employee.

If you only receive payment through dividends, then you won't have any personal ZUS liability.

Off-Topic / Is anyone in Poland planning a trip in Croatia? [26]

Were I a Pole traveling on vacation to Croatia, I'd try to find a bilingual tour operator or use an interpreter

It's not that bad. I've gone to Croatia 5-6 times on holiday, and beyond my very limited knowledge of Croatian, I've never found it difficult to communicate with locals. Speaking Polish is more than enough to get by, even in places like Livno in Bosnia which has a heavy Croatian majority and little tourism. Only the accent can be difficult to deal with, and it's much easier in Bosnia than anywhere else.

Slovene is much tougher though, but it's still easy to read for a Polish speaker.

Everybody outside Serbia knows that Serbia was the villain in this conflict, and eventually Serbians will acknowledge this as well.

In fairness, it's not quite true. Croats were guilty of crimes too, especially in Bosnia, but there were also war crimes committed before and during Operation Storm. I don't remember the exact name of the place, but there's a Serbian village near the Maslenica Bridge that was wiped out by Croatian forces for no apparent reason during the war.

Work / Polish private pension - is it obligatory to join? [13]

Of course you can, Gumishu.

zus.pl/pue

You can even just register/log in using your banking details. I've just checked mine, and it shows everything for the entire time that I've been in Poland.

PiS have done a very good job of continuing what PO started with the digitalisation of services, and the last minister for digitalisation was the one who had the fantastic idea of allowing users to authorise themselves through online banking.

Off-Topic / Is anyone in Poland planning a trip in Croatia? [26]

Look who's talking!

Slovenians are generally quite trustworthy. They don't really cheat and steal, and their sense of order comes from Austria, not Italy (unlike Croatia).

It's a very nice country. Crowie's right to post that, because Croatia is a pretty unreliable partner and is also somewhat of an American/German puppet.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Sorry but vast majority of sane people disagree with you.

You mean the vast majority of uneducated idiots who know nothing. WW2 left the UK in a hell of a mess for a long time, and given that we entered the war because of Poland, I think we did enough. It was a stupid move to ally with Poland to begin with, not least because of Poland's actions over the previous 21 years towards neighbours.

Most of those "rats" later fought against so called "Nazis" at every opportunity they had.

I'm talking about the leadership, not the rank and file. The cowardice of the President and commander-in-chief was astonishing, especially given the propaganda around Rydz-Śmigły before the war.

Sorry, but I think the UK did more than enough for Poland.

If you want to talk about cowardice, perhaps you should start with the rats that fled to Romania.

Your country didn't give a **** about the alliance it signed and now to "cover it up" you pinks throw **** at those they failed to help in any way.

Why should they have given a damn about a country that used Hitler's annexation of the Sudetenland to annex Zaolzie?

Life / What would you do in my situation (Americans lied to Polish cops about my reason for deportarion) [7]

You were convicted of sexually grooming a child over the internet and arranging to meet her. That never goes down well.

Did you see the report of what they did to one rapist in Rzeszów on his first day in prison?

If he's got a brain, he'll keep well, well away from the police here. Sex offenders are treated badly enough in Western prisons, in Poland, they're thrown to the wolves.

but a few unfortunate Brits (and indeed Irish) ended up in the Gulags as a result of being naive enough to buy into the ideal of Communism as presented by Soviet propaganda.

It's interesting how they were treated in the Soviet Union in general. Unlike Westerners who went to the European socialist countries, they were often outcasts in the Soviet Union at best regardless of who they were - the stories of how spies were completely lied to about their position in the Soviet Union are remarkable. Kim Philby was a great example - the KGB told him that he held the rank of a colonel in the KGB, when in reality, he had never been promoted. It was apparently one reason why he lived out his life in such rage, because he'd essentially been fed a pack of lies by the system that he believed in.

In comparison, Westerners in places like East Germany and Poland lived as everyone else. I've read one account of some idealistic American that lived in East Germany, and they never gave him trouble as such, only that they wanted him to report his contacts with anyone from the West, which was nothing out of the ordinary for East German society.

What's the best museum to visit that commemorates British colonies; )

There was one actually in Bristol, but it closed down a few years ago.

You're right there, there really should be a prominent museum about colonialism.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Even at the start of the war, the way that the capable Sikorski was sidelined says it all. Rydz-Śmigły really was an absolute cretin, especially as he abandoned the fight after building himself up as some sort of military hero. It's also worth pointing out that Rydz-Śmigły ordered the Polish forces to retreat, which is rather at odds with the nonsense that Bieganski is propagating.

I have to wonder if the Warsaw Uprising would have happened at all if Sikorski hadn't died. It's hard to imagine a savvy commander like him putting what little existed of the Polish resistance in that situation.

Law / Probate laws in Poland - banking data access and money transfer [6]

Would it be legal to transfer the money in his account to ones personal account?

No, absolutely not. The proper process has to be followed and authorised by the court, you can't just transfer money to yourself.

Our fears are that the tax authorities will rip it off before it gets to the family.

The tax authorities won't rip it off. The person handling the estate has to distribute the assets according to the law, and recipients are responsible for paying tax on the inheritance.

Life / Many Problems with UPC Broadband in Poland - Anyone Else? [20]

but the connection by wifi remains almost the same.

That's normal. The 2.4ghz band in particular is crowded in cities, though you can use a wifi analyser to choose the least crowded channel. The 5ghz band isn't so crowded, but don't expect the signal to propagate well.

Real Estate / Expatriate mortgages + Property in Poland [24]

It's entirely possible for your USD to halve compared to the zloty in a year (possible but unlikely).

Not impossible though - the PLN gained nearly 20% between January and July 2008 for instance.

Polish banks are very risk adverse, which is one reason why the country didn't have a banking meltdown.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Now imagine living among idiots ... scary ...

You're right, living in the II RP between 1935-1939 would be terrifying. Not only was the country effectively under a military dictatorship, but they were proving to be absolutely incapable of organising a foreign policy worth a damn. Poland was isolated and heading straight for disaster, but the idiots in control believed their own hype about how great the country was.

Ordinary people can't be blamed for the actions of the leadership, especially when the eastern part of the country was being run as if the feudal system was alive and well. Nor can they be blamed for the fact that the leadership ran like rats, and the brave people who took part in the Warsaw Uprising had infinitely more courage than those idiots safe and sound in London.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

It was their leadership which allowed Poland to survive the war

Poland survived the war because the Soviets let them survive. Had the Soviets wanted, Poland could have been burnt to the ground and Poles expelled permanently from Polish territory. There's certainly nothing the West would have done about it, and those idiots sitting in London would have been powerless.

Those "leaders" in London contributed exactly the same as you - nil. In fact, their pathetic leadership was the reason why the Soviets were able to take over so easily.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Hardly. It was a smart, strategic decision, and an effective one as well:

A poor one. It showed considerable cowardice and showed exactly what kind of poor leaders they were. Only cowards run like rats from the country that they wrecked.

I already did my service to defend Poland.

Of course you did. We're talking real life, not computer games.

and fought fiercely and courageously

That would be why both the Commander-in-Chief and the President fled like rats within 3 weeks of the German invasion, right?

Nothing courageous there, just cowardice.

One can only wonder when Bieganski intends to sign up for the Polish defence forces and do his part in defending Poland.

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

Yeshu isn't clearly Jesus, and if you look at the other references to him, it's not clear at all who it refers to.

Sanhedrin 54b

Have you actually checked this first?

Nowhere does it says that they can. Actually, who said that it says that in the Talmud? Why, Goebbels himself.

research.calvin.edu/german-propaganda-archive/thumb.htm

Worth reading through and comparing to what you're using as source material.

The New Testament and Gospels teach forgiveness, peace, etc.

Not sure I'd agree with that one:

skepticsannotatedbible.com/2th/1.html#7 - here Jesus promises to wage war on unbelievers
skepticsannotatedbible.com/1cor/10.html#8 - here Paul is claiming that a load of people died for the crime of 'fornication'.

It's a pretty brutal book, all things considered. These old religious texts are great reads if you like blood and violence!

The Talmud states numerous times it is permissible to kill goyim.

Actually, Talmud Sanhedrin 57a; "Taz" Y.D. 158:1 makes it clear that it's not.

It also states that Jesus is boiling in hell in excrement for being a blasphemer.

Don't.

End of 56, start of 57.

reddit/r/Judaism/comments/40smul/does_the_talmud_really_say_that_jesus_is_burning
explains it nicely.

Killing unbelievers is a pretty common theme in religious texts, though. The Old Testament is particularly bad for it, but there's plenty of comments in the New Testament too.

I really wouldn't call an occupying force which brutalised Poles to have had "honour and decency". Much of what they built was done with Polish slave labour and stolen materials.
