History / Give back Lwow to Poland and Kaliningrad to Germany - is it possible? [198]

The population of Silesia is not originally silesian anymore but eastern polish now

Agree but "things can happen", you never know :-) You'll be very surprised but when I was in Danzig, some young Poles living there, expressed that they would prefer to live in a free city. They said, they don't want it to be German but they want it to be free of any influence. When I asked why, the expectation of a much better live standard was the most common answer.

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

In general ancient Greeks had the highest IQ of any nation that existed on earth till the 12th century when the Turks and Albos came and lowered IQ by mixing

Good 1 LOLOLOL (still laughing)

As the matter of fact, high IQ doesn't necessarily make anyone or any country successful.

The Silesia of old isn't coming back no matter what artificial acts we try to pull off...

You're probably right about that but then again, no one has really expected the reunification of Germany too. Things happen in life, you never know.

Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

Germans are a lot better in construction,English in trade,Poles in manual labor,Italians in labour, everybody excels in different areas.

I had pretty much the same feeling when I was visiting Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Italy and Poland. I can't talk about Greece, never been there.

If they (the tests) are measuring intelligence how is it that the same individual gets improved results with practice

Because the tested individual remembers more and more questions and answers quicker and more efficiently.

To whoever is in charge of this thread today,

I wonder why you guys are moving many good comments to the random but allow an obvious fool, who doesn't bring anything valuable to this thread, to run his mouth constantly?

Just in case you have a problem to spot him, I'm talking about Mr. Moron-ironside.

Also, Poland regaining their old Eastern territories would open the door to Germany claiming their old Eastern territories too - and Poland would probably rather keep that than gain Lwow.

I guess, it's a choice you guys are making then. I wonder how the majority of Poles is thinking about it.

You gonna pay for that?

Your country gains on territory and it's an investment. At first you guys pay for it so one day this part of your country will be able to help you when you need it. Just look at the Germans, the invested billions of euros in reunification and slowly but surely it will pay off one day. I bet, they would gladly spend even more money if they had a chance to get East Prussia and Lower Silesia back from you guys. Besides, it's not only about money, it's a matter of your national pride and identity. If you guys believe that Lwow is or should be Polish then you have to carry the financial consequences too and if you're not ready to do it, you're not supposed to even mention that this territory is or ever should be Polish again.

Supposedly, there are still many Poles in Lwow, right? If so, it shouldn't be really that hostile, don't you think?
As far as the poverty in this region, it's exactly what I said above, it would be a great chance for thousands of unemployed people to find a job there while restoring it.

Germany and both Poland and Germany dont have the population to effectively settle these regions

I bet if they had a chance to get this land back, they would quickly find enough people wanting to settle down in those regions. Open employment for many people in restoring this area to what it once used to be.

USA, Canada / Do any other Polish Americans feel that our culture needs to be more well preserved? [38]

It depends how one defines Americaism. Is someone who dislikes apple pie and baseball unAmerican or even a traitor?

You know, this is not what I meant before, :-)

America is a huge salad bowl comprising diverse ingredients. Will it contain everythign but Polish ingredients is up to us PolAms.

Agree as long as we keep it as it is in a "salad bowl", all tastefully mixed together :-)

American wasps

I don't know what kind of Americans you guys meet over there but in general, we're very friendly and helpful people.
Talking about your economy etc, no one said that you're not welcome here (read my previous post) but we expect you guys to be loyal, that's it.

In time

I've met an older guy from Chicago, after 35 years living here, he barely spoke English. You have to admit that this is not right.

We are going to be hated if we seem snooty and ungrateful to Americans

Someone who made a decision to live here as a citizen of the US supposed to be loyal to this country. No one here will hate you for your feelings to the country of your origin.

However, I'm against creating little "countries" inside the US like it is for example in Chicago where a part of it is practically Polish. Cultural exchange is very much welcome but I believe that if it's so important for someone to live in almost 100% Polish environment and in many cases don't even speak English then why not just live in Poland. This is just an example, I feel the same way about any other ethnic group that lives in the US.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

I'm sure it's true, but nationality doesn’t determine whether you'll be an alcoholic or not.

But it does when it comes to drinking all day long at the "Kiosk", lol

Life / Poles - what other nationality would you say you are most like? [125]

history, love of fatherland,
honour, honesty, bravery, decency, magnitude of spirit and the overall greatness (which can
clearly be seen when you look at the history of both nations.)

Some of your points would be a great material to discuss about in another thread :-)

News / Poland could emerge as new European and world power. If? [116]

In the US, people of various European ethnic backgrounds have more in common with each other then their ancestors from their various European nations.

Absolutely agree. In the states, we're all Americans, no matter where our ancestors came from.
In Europe, it's still a very long process to become one big nation. I personally don't believe it will ever happen. Too many wars, too much hatred.

(Earlier I was talking about Europeans in Europe, not Americans.)

News / Poland could emerge as new European and world power. If? [116]

all these groups had one thing in common...european heritage!

Well, the European heritage in reality is still divided into many different heritages. Different languages, mentality, different interests in most of cases etc...

They showed that Europeans CAN work well together and build something great and successfull once they leave their little spats and centuries old grudges behind.

"the century old grudges" are still very present (as you see it very present on this forum and not only)

Poland, Germany and the rest of the european countries don't need more borders between them but less...meaning also mingling with each other.

I know, there are many people in Europe who would love those borders back :-)

Any european country alone has no big voice on the world stage whatsoever but together we are powerful!

Agree with that one

The idea about USE (united states of Europe) is great but it will take a long time (if ever) to make it work right.

Poland could emerge as new European and world power. If?

"If" is a good question. If you put it like this, whole bunch of countries around the world might emerge as a new super power but most likely never will. As far as Poland, I don't think that it will ever happen because the nowadays Polish welfare is based (mainly) on EU financial help. That means, that things could quickly change in Poland "if" or once the help quits coming.

News / €11,700 to every migrant returning to the Polish capital and starting a business there. [110]

Furthermore, why should the EU fund this?

I feel for you guys. Now the whole western Europe pays taxes so Poles will come back home, a bad joke.

The EU should not bail out Polish incompetence

You're absolutely right about that.

We are always told that the smartest people in the world are here so let's see it.

Obviously they must be smart enough at least in this point, having someone else to pay for their needs.

History / Lwów, Wilno ... kresy - Poland have lost enormoust part of our heritage... [389]

Agree. In case of Lithuania, Polish "influence" was actually limited to the Vilnius area.
In general it is up to a person to decide how he/she feels about it. Some where born there and say they are Polish and some say, they're Lithuanians. To be honest, waste of time to argue about it :-). I've met an old man who was born in Lwow/Lviv and he told me, he's Polish and then again some other people told me, they were Ukrainians.

sure, and Obama is a dwarfish giant from Venus - Wendy eh?

What I meant to say was that Vilnius area was definitely influenced much more by Poles than the rest of Lithuania. As far as the rest of it, ask some older Lithuanians how they feel about you. You'll be very surprised but why even try to discuss it with you, Americans are clueless when it comes to anything, don't you know? ....

Because of Poles like ironside I created my thread. It's hard to call someone a "friend" as long as you guys will be coming up with dumb ass comments like this him.

I know it's not all of you but "individuals" like ironside are messing up the reputation of others that really don't deserve it.
